Comcast & Universal might join to help fund an Arena?

If The Maloofs don't bite, I wonder if something like this would have any effect on a potential BOG vote.
If things get a bit more serious in terms of discussions not only will the Maloofs bite- they will devour. This new Comcast idea at least has been presented to the Maloofs. The Maloofs may just say "sorry, Anaheim, but we're staying put for one more year".

A City Walk type venue? Are you kidding me? With the river close by? That would absolutely transform the city of Sacramento. It would be a shot in the arm for the local economy. Universal has the bucks to get things rolling.

I can see this taking off with comcast wanting naming rights.. Which is fine by me.. Comcast Arena has a ring to it.

Write to the NBA. I know KJ is going there but let us not assume someone else will take care of it. Comcast and the presence of Luckenbill gives me real hope - and that little item of a massive outflow of money necessary for the Maloofs to move.

Many things were mentioned at the rally that could be done. All had been mentioned on this forum. A lot was met with huge yawns previously. So now it makes sense? Write to the NBA. Write to the BOG whoever they are. If they are a select group of owners and no one knows which owners, write to them all. Things are rolling and the momentum just cannot stop becasue Carmichael Dave is leading the charge. It takes more than that.

Having a regional authority has always been available. It is out of our hands.

These things still need to be done and can be done. I will make my offer again, get me addresses and I will write a letter. Everyone can sign the letter electronically. It will go to everyone who has a say in what can be done. Now there is more ammunition to put in the letter.

I missed one item but it'll come to me.

Crandells report was correct... the lack of information on it though led to us fans putting way to much hype behind it....
Two things.

As the funding was "not in place" and anybody that's covered this issue for more than two weeks would know the "Maloof would NOT be interested" in a remod ... the "report" was not correct.

Second, Jimmy had about 1/4 of a story that wasn't very strong and he left the details out for the purpose of getting some hype going ... that's a strike, not a plus.

So...where does this potential plan stand at the moment, with 12 days to go before the Maloofs can announce the moving trucks are pulling into Arco Balance?

It's a longer time frame than that. The 18th is the last day they can file for relocation. If they do then the league sets up a committee to gather the information on the relocation. At some point in the future the committee will report the findings to the board of governors. Then they will set a vote date.

Indeed...I'm just curious as to when this potential Comcast/Universal thing might become public...as in The Bee, etc.

I am not sure of the validity of the report, but it wouldn't surprise me for this reason.

Comcast doesn't serve Orange County. Only Cox Cable, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse along with the Satellite services so Comcast would lose a large part of their sports programming. I think Comcast sees the future, and the future seems to be combining sports and media creators with distribution networks into massive conglomerates. They are already on their way with their purchase of NBC-Universal, and what better way to keep and enhance power and prestige then to create a massive presence in the town that makes all the legal rules for California. hmmmmm

Well...it looks like mums the word until this thing either becomes savior or dies...unlike all the other rumors/proposals we've heard in the past, this one seems to be more than just talk, otherwise I'm sure somebody would have officially spilled the beans on it. If they've been in contact with all parties involved, and no one is talking about it yet...might be a good thing, for a change...the silence may spring the dawning of a new and brilliant day for our city.

In the SI thread it says the Clippers TV deal is $22.5 mil. If comcast can do around $20 mil for the Kings in Sacramento I think that would be huge for them staying.
