Maloofs have trademarked domain name for Los Angeles Royals.com(something like that)

We can still send letters/emails to owners of the other 29 teams urging them to vote no. Honestly this is just messed up, the Maloofs are trash IMO and I hate them. They are taking away a team from a group of fans who love them and puting it someplace where the people dont even want them. This is not fair. WTF am I supposed to do, be a warriors fan? I dont even like the warriors.
It really astounds me how some fans think. You are entitled to nothing. Nothing is messed up, nothing is being taken away from you. They own the Kings, they can move the Kings wherever they feel like. You have no ownership, you have no rights, you have no say. The only unfair thing is that ignorant people can continue to vilify businessmen doing what is prudent to keep themselves in business.

was wearing the throwback Royals jersey planned before the start of the season?

what good market research must be available by "testing" the new Anaheim Royals jersey before the move...

Actually, they may not be able to use Royals at all. Major League baseball may have exclusive rights at this point. Yes they had the name before but that was what 40 years ago. MLB went after little league teams, dont think they wont go after another pro team.
I don't buy that.

MLB Giants; NFL Giants.
MLB Cardinals; NFL Cardinals.
NHL Kings; NBA Kings.

Just wanted to fire off a few examples before I said, Eh, there's already precedent for it.

I really don't think this Sacramento lawyer, who has represented the Maloofs in the past, would have done this on behalf of a client if he wasn't serious. Probably only a couple thousand bucks, but it's a pretty symbolic couple thousand bucks.

The domains AND the trademarks? Not good.

Besides, I'd bet that if MLB had reserved the name "Royals", the NBA has too.

In this new era of super rich owners I don't care were the maloofs take the kings, they will not be able to compete. And if they fail to field a good team they are doomed in anaheim. I give them 24 months before they have to sell the kings. They can scream that they don't want to EVER sell but if they can't spend money on players and compete with the clips and lakers they are done. And you can't spend a lot of money on players if your essentially broke. Not broke from Joe blows perspective. Im talking broke from NBA standards.

If it meant breaking the hearts of thousands of people I would never take the path the maloofs have taken, even if it meant fame and fortune. It makes sense as business men, but as a person its a heartless move.

It's really the first step in the move process. They can't move forward with out the name.
First step?????? It's the least step. I mean only a bit of disrepect but this is nothing. The significant step is when they come up with close to $100 mil and move. Oh, please let's not slip back into mourning. Tyreke's back!!!

Yes. The league requires the team to wear throwbacks 4 times a year unless I have that wrong.

The league has also threatened to fine the Maloofs if they talk about the move.

And that right there is the operative word. And while the Kings are entertainment to us, they are a business to the Maloofs. They have given Sacramento more than enough time to get their act together. They are definitely not blameless in this, but they are by no means heartless

And what if there is an introduction of the hard cap in the new CBA?!

Having multibillionaire owners would mean **** all if all you can spend on players is a hard capped amount. We need to know what the new CBA spells out before we cam make the outrageous claims like then one you just did.

I mean the first step in an actual move. You can't start marketing or doing business until the name is offical.

And like I said, those have been around and "in use" for a long time. Look at all the expansion teams in recent history for any sport. Any of them repeat in another sport?

Here's what they put on the application

LOL If I have no entitlements or anything, and no business being involved in anything, then we'll see how they do without any of the loyal fans money and without any of the loyal fans ratings when it comes to viewership. Yeah, people like me are the reason they make money off of this ****, but we really have no right to object to anything at all. That really makes sense(end sarcasm).

I honestly do not care about this news because it's really no big deal. It's just a part of the process if things get done with Anaheim, but guess what? It's not a done deal.

I just got my ticket to tonight's Kings vs Cavs game. I will be sitting in section 114, row BB, seat 16. Hope to see many SACRAMENTO KINGS fans out there tonight. I will have my Here We Stay sign at my aisle seat. We need to show our support and love for our SACRAMENTO KINGS and the Maloof Family.

Oh please... It really astounds me how you think as well. It's fu**ed up what they are doing. It's a way of life here, and they know this. They aren't losing money here right now. So you would have the same feelings if the bank came along and took THEIR house from you or THEIR car from you? (if you have loans to purchase them)

I spent a ton of my time and money supporting this team, and now they turn their backs on the people that paid their salary? Let them start over in a new area.. F**k them, I hope they fail. We all know how crappy they have been doing managing their money with the ponzi thing, and the casino in a down ecomony which isn't even on the strip. I give them 10 years before they sell the Kings. For all we know they could be moving the team to the LA TV market so they can sell them if things go further south for more than they would have been able to sell them for in Sac.

I don't see why the MLB would care. Different sport. It's not like they are in their city or something.

Do you really not understand that a professional sports team has the right to move when they desire to do so, so long as they don't have a leasing agreement with the city they're in? The Kings do not have a leasing agreement with Sacramento; they are contractually free to move.

I am not dismissing your involvement in the team, the money you've spent supporting them, the bond you have with them as a native, etc. All of that matters, and is relevant. None of it means that the Kings can't move.

I'm amazed at the hatred displayed towards the Maloofs by some, who at the same time give the city council and local business leaders a free pass. Sacramento sits on its @ss for 14 years, while the Maloofs try to get an arena built, yet that entire time I don't remember the same people who are calling out the Maloofs now, calling out the city or business leaders when they couldn't get something done.

A bit hypocritical methinks. If you're going to launch all this venom at the Maloofs now, where was that venom the last 14 years when the city council and Fargo were showing the intellect and forsight of a 5th grader?

Scott Hervey who filed the trademark request. This is the description of the services they plan to provide.
They, meaning MSE, right?

Let's say MLB took issue with that application because of the "baseball" inclusion, I don't know how they could defend the name "Royals" as intellectual property (which is what a trademark protects) when the NBA Royals predate the MLB Royals. So MSE would have to drop "baseball" from the application, and then move forward, right?

Oh dont even get me started on this dude, I talked about this stuff and argued with people on the sac bee about needing a new arena for the last 5-6 years since I was 13. So dont say that I'm being a hypocrite right here. Both sides are at fault, but this move coming with so little warning and potentially waiting to file till end of season just so you can squeeze what little money is left out of sac ticket sales? That is bush league IMO. Yeah people knew they were talking with other cities, but until it was damn near impossible to stop a move/get something going they waited on letting anyone know. If we had known these talks with 1 specific city had gotten this far/were getting this far, people could've started this herewestay movement and sac deflated movements way sooner and gotten some momentum. Nothing was ever going to get done until the last minute and people were on notice.

Not to mention the Maloofs didnt try as hard for an arena as you are saying. They pulled support from the 06 ballot measure and caused it to tank because they weren't getting 100% of the stuff in an arena they weren't paying much for. Then they let the NBA mess around with the Cal Expo BS and everyone close to that situation should've been able to figure out that Cal Expo wasn't going to help them out or do anything.

Yes, the attorney they use for this type of stuff. The NBA predates yes, but like I said it hasnt been used in 39 years by the NBA. It's something the courts will most likely decide.

You might want to educate yourself on the tax measure before you go making wild baseless claims. Taxes are still a dilemma because it is the use of force. It didn't get shot down because of the Maloofs, it got voted down because people that voluntarily decline to not pay the Maloofs money do not want to be forced to pay money for their cause.

The Maloofs don't owe you anything. You voluntary pay money to enjoy their product. They aren't squeezing money out of anyone. You are not forced to pay them one cent for a ticket, merchandise, concessions, or to watch them on TV.

Them moving the team is not heartless. The notion that people should have the power to force them to stay in Sacramento against their will is heartless. Who is anyone to force anyone else to commit a specific action?

On top of all that, they haven't moved yet.
