Who is a fan of THIS team not matter where they end up?

Not even close. You say people haven't been to LA, but it sounds like you haven't been to NorCal at all. The relationship between LA and the OC is much closer to SF and San Jose. Sacramento to the Bay Area is like San Diego to LA/OC/Riverside. They are distinct cities with separate cultures, economies, and media outlets, while the greater Los Angeles area (yes, which includes Anaheim) is covered by one set of media outlets, and is very common for people to commute to jobs from the outlying areas into LA.
The only people who obsess over pointing out that OC and LA are 'so different' are (1) racists who hate being identified with non-white people, (2) spoiled white kids who hate being identified with poor people, and (3) people who wish they were part of the main show (Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, etc.) but compensate for it by pretending that places like Anaheim are so awesome and different and totally not-LA, when the reality is the whole region is a massive exurban development designed to facilitate excess population created by the overexpansion of Los Angeles.

First off no one is crapping on LA. It's a rivalry ok. Believe it or not I used to be a Dodger fan when I was a kid living down there. LA is a long stretch to carry fans over to.
Anaheim is very close to LA. I've driven through there enough to know. If you where to say Riverside or San Bernadino werent in the same market I could almost go with that. I used to live in Riverside when I was a kid. I sure liked them Dodgers.

Yeah, i can't beleive the pettiness that is currently on this board. Everyone is saying poor me i'm a local or poor me i'm not a local so i have no say...
In the past this board has been an opinion board, where people would post opinions and a debate my arise from that. Lately everyone is is attacking everything that is put up on this board and some people are really stooping low (can't wait to see what response this invokes).
Look, pretty much everyone who supports the Kings wants them to stay, but sadly as time goes on it's looking like that's not going to happen. I understand the passion of the locals and also understand why this passion is putting off people who aren't in the area. I also understand that the Maloof's are in a business and I know how i would look at a business venture.
At the end of the day, i actually don't know what to think anymore. I was so against the Kings moving, but now there is so much false, misleading information out there. I guess ill go with, what will be, will be. Personally i have absolutely no control over the situation, i just hope that it ends up being the best for this franchise long term, whether that be the Kings or not, but i will contuinue to support the team.
P.S. i have also been though this similar situation will my AFL (Australian Football League) Team, and in the end they didn't move because of a lack of support for the move. However, in Australia no one actually has the power themselves to move a team. The members do, which does include all the fans who buy annual memberships.

I have never really hated on the Lakers or whatever since becomming a Kings fan. I still have my "Back to Back" Wheaties boxes and the rest of my Laker memorbilia from when I was a kid. Magic Johnson, and KAJ posters and stuff. I am still going to be a Laker fan.. But the question is kinda stupid. I am not a fan because they are in Sacramento. I am a fan because that was my and my Dad's thing to do. That's how we bonded. We went to about 700-800 games together since 1989. My dad is pretty hurt by it too. He's much older now so I hate seeing him this upset over things. Try to convince him that if the town gets an arena we will have a new tradition (if we get a team) but he's still real upset over it =/ .
Probably just go back to following the Lakers though.. Liked them for a long time before liking the Kings. Only time I hated the lakers was when they played the Kings. I follow a lot of teams though.. Like the Rockets, and T-Wolves. A couple of my fav players are on those teams.

Do some research on the old Sonics forums. Same thing happened there. Pretty much the locals didn't remain fans of the "Thunder", but others still follow that were not local. It's the nature of the beast. You won't see many Sonics fans from Seattle following the Thunder at all. That's just how it is. Too much local pride. If/When the new forums go up start a poll in a year or two and ask where people are from. I bet there will be less than 5% from norcal opposed to now where it's probably closer to 40%-50%.
I don't hate anyone from SoCal, but I do get pissed off at their lack of compassion or understanding from where a lot of us Sac people are coming from.

yeah, and the situation is even more polarized here because LA is both a rivalry city and there are a lot of transplants, there and here. with SEA-OKC i doubt there was a lot of cross-over seattle transplants in oklahoma or vice versa, nor was the preset 'enemy' mentality towards this city. i think a lot of us probably have connections to both norcal and socal, so there's not only the local vs. outsider fan split, but a split within the locals as well.
Once they leave Sacramento, i'm no longer a fan. I'd like to be but the thought of watching our beloved Kings win in some other city and play for a fan base that doesn't deserve them makes me sick to my stomach. It'd make watching games a miserable experience for me. Because of that, I'll find things other than basketball to fill that void The Kings leave. If that makes me a bandwagon fan, then so be it. I'm not interested in lowering myself to pissing contests with morons about whose a better breed of fan. All I know is that i love The Kings and that once they're gone it will be too painful for me to still follow and support them. Sometimes in life you have to cut ties, this is one of those times for me. As for the rest of you "real" fans, well, have fun watching the championship parade in Anaheim.
Kings fans have been waiting since Webber blew out his knee to finally have a team that was on the rise again. Now we finally do and we're gonna lose them to a fanbase that has no emotional investment in the team and are morel likely to support The Lakers. It sucks to wait all those years and then lose the team when they're on the cusp of becoming relevant again. Obviously, you disagree. I suppose you figure we should gladly hand over our team to the OC and wish them and their new fans well.

I think the only way I stay a fan is because I'm kind of attached to some of the players. I want to see Cousins develop, Evans to become an all-star, and see what Thornton can do. So I'll follow the team to see how they do, and maybe in the process will still stay a fan. Not sure though, guess we'll see.
I would support the next closest team to Sacramento...hint Warriors. Nor Cal baby! If there's no NorCal team..then yeah, I would go down south.
