Breaking News: Mayor says Kings more likely to move

#61
And even if that the case and they could have built the arena themselves, I pose a question why the hell should they?!

This is the problem with the thought process of some in Sacramento. Its a top 30 media market, yet it is the only major league town that has not built an arena. Arco was privatly funded and its one of the reasons that it can't be renovated or remodelled. Its the responsibility of the city to build a sports and entertainment complex, not of the owners. The owners by all mean can do it, but why should they?!

Lets look at all the arenas around USA and tell me how many of them were built entirely by the owners of the team?!
Some of them were, but it's not par for the course. In reality, the team uses the facility about 1/3 as much as the community does, in the NBA. In the NFL, it's even less, and it's more in MLB. But the community benefits from the arena and the development, and they use it as much as they possibly can. This is what a lot of even die-hard sports fans don't realize. To insist that a team build the arena without help from the community is unfair and shortsighted.

What's funny if the Maloofs were out of the picture, I could see the region being more supportive of an arena for the community.

It's that whole "Those greedy millionaire's won't profit from MY tax money" mentality that has killed a lot of public support.
Well, I would love to hear from those same people after the team leaves and takes a huge economic chunk of the city with them.

I wouldn't support an arena because I am in the mindset of "If they wouldn't build it when we had a chance to keep the Kings why build it now when we have nobody to really use it?"

I hate our politicians here. It's like they are living in a town of 500 people and just don't get it. Sad thing is that most politicians that actually WANT to be politicians are retarded beyond belief. They have huge complexes and egos to go with it. It's sad that we can't get real people with their heads on straight that would want to do the job. We are so used to the retard politicians failing that we don't know what a good politician could do for this city.

If they want this town to be a ghost town then so be it. If they are too stupid to realize what will happen to the city when the Kings leave then they should be here to reap the windfall, and get rode out of town on a rail the next vote. These people that were in charge of this need to be in prison. they just cost Sacramento billions over the long haul and about 10,000 jobs (if not more).

You are - and have always been - the biggest hypocrite on this board. When you were a moderator, you were always quick to censor someone with a strong opinion, either threatening them with "penalties" or banning them altogether. However, on the small chance that you "allowed" a poster who differed from you to stay online, you usually had a pithy or smarmy remark directed at them.

I don't care what happens to me about this post. This has needed to be said for a long time. As Charlie Sheen said recently, "bring it on."
I've never really addressed this before but I guess I might as well at this point. The mods in general here seem to be control freaks and are often quick to label anyone with a view or opinion they don't like a troll. I've had quite a few threads "sanitized" or closed for no reason other than a mod didn't seem to like it. That happens to lots of people, I've noticed. It's their forum and they can certainly run it how they like but i think that kind of obsessive censoring and constant policing probably deters a lot more users than it attracts. It creates an atmosphere like school where you can't really speak your mind because you don't want to get sent to the corner, lol.

Is this how it ends...we devour our own in an orgy of pent up, misplaced anger and resentment? Kingsfans is a family in a way. We should try to get through this as a family no matter what happens. Well, not like my family. ;)

It's not obsessive at all unless you like having post upon post of p*ssing contests and baiting nd troling clogging your forums. It's not like anyone's forcing you to post here. There are other Kings sites, you know.

because apparently this is a "family friendly" forum, which I still don't understand. Because families always run like utopias?

I've gotten several infractions for "insulting" other members whereas the mods seems to be immune to this themselves.

But, like you said, it's their forum.

I'm not talking about baiting and trolling. I'm talking about legitimate threads. I had a thread closed earlier today where I was asking folks if they'd prefer contraction to relocation. That was an honest question, not trolling or baiting. You're correct of course, no one is forcing me to post here. That doesn't mean however that I'm not going to speak my mind if i don't agree with something. I can understand not allowing profanity, spamming, etc. but I don't understand discouraging dissent.

I think the problem there was simply the fact that there were already several other threads of a similar bent going on elsewhere on the forum. And honestly, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask the mods. IF they are "dictators" as some claim, they most certainly are benevolent dictators rather than those of a draconian bent.

I, for one, feel the mods have been too lenient. But to each their own. This isn't the yahoo sports free-for-all forum where you should say anything you want. Someone ponied up the dough for this website. This is his house. We are all guests at his house and are asked to abide by his rules. It's as simple as that.

It does feel a little bit like the last of hour "Titanic" around here.

So I have to be on the bandwagon with a few members here in order to post?

I don't think that's the way it works son.
And given your posts in this thread, I don't think we will be seeing any posts from you for a long, long time. Congrats!
