Yessir, I do believe you're right. They can save the drama as far as I'm concerned...
You guys really are putting the cart before the horse. The picture isn't rosy, but there are some serious issues with moving the team, including several issues regarding MSE control of revenues, etc., that fly in the face of public comments made in the past. Giving up now, before any announcements are made, is baffling to me. I WANT to keep the team here. I refuse to cower and cry before any final decisions are made. I have contacted local representatives, including the Kings, to let them know how I feel and that I want the team to stay. In the absense of any public filing or statements made by the team, why are you already throwing in the towel when the game isn't over yet???

Hopefully. Another thing that gives me a little hope is that I know Dave personally and I honestly can't imagine him not sounding bummed out if he just learned The Kings were filing unless he's just doing one heck of an acting job. Plus, I just can't see 1140 punking fans like that, not when it comes to The Kings.

On another note, I went to Ticketmaster to try to buy tickets to the possible last game for my family of 5 and available tickets even in the very last row for that game are $100 a piece with the surcharges. I love and want to support the team but I just can't justify spending $500 for a couple hours of entertainment in this economy and trying to send kids to college. I am truly sorry that I can't do that, Maloofs. :(
To avoid Ticketmaster charges, try out this link: https://oss.ticketmaster.com/html/go.htmI?l=EN&t=sackings&o=3704114&g=2140.

I don't know much about Tony Lopez. His joke just now on the DG show that the Kings MIGHT stay and he MIGHT wake up 6'4'' tomorrow could be interpreted as him just playing around with the nonsense that DG spews. But I don't know whether that's in Lopez's character or not to do something like that. My guess, is that if he's allowed on DG's show, is that he is just playing around. If he's always a very serious reporter though, that would be concerning.
Tony has always been a straight shooter, as far as his reporting, but who knows. I'm sorry for being a Debbie Downer, but I've been with this damn team since 1985, as alot of you have...and the only way I'll approach this whole deal is to expect the worst and hope for the best...and if/when the worst happens(I.e.: they leave) then I want it to be quick and as painless as possible, I personally won't ever watch another NBA game on my own...the NBA and the Kings will be dead to me.

this thread represents all the fans that "dont get it and wont ever get it".... take a step back and look at everything...

. the maloofs dropped tons of money into building one of the best teams in the league for a few years... and as it goes for most teams that over spend to make it happen we couldn't stay on top forever, and were left with injured overpaid players....

but all these greatest fans in the NBA are now nowhere to be found... all thats left is a crapy arena and city that clearly doesn't value keeping the team.... the maloofs wanted to stay and exhausted all options but at what point do you pull the plug?

the NBA and Stern are totally over trying to keep the team here and its not because of some agenda to move its because the people and politicians of sacramento are a totally pain in the butt and arent willing to do anything...

it is what it is... if we owned a business and things were falling apart and so difficult we'd move in a heartbeat if someone offered us and upgrade a huge loan and no more headaches.... the maloofs didn't just try to pack it up right away they stuck it out and everything failed and nothing is on the horizon

The city also misses out on the opportunity to make money. Prince is in Oakland and not Arco. These events bring money to the area. You have to invest money to make money.
And Prince is once every few years.. The Kings (if good) would fill an arena 41 times a year and a LOT of those people would be out and about in Sacramento before/after. We saw what the good years did to Natomas. Think what it would do to downtown..

The idiot politicians are in the dark ages.

My wife and I went to Prince on Monday in Oakland...WOW what a show!! Just to put an event like that in perpective, they sold out 2 shows for him in only 10 minutes...then added a third show at last second for tomorrow and sold that out in 5 minutes! That's almost 60,000 tickets that sold out in about 15 minutes...plus a full parking lot at $35 a pop, plus whatever else inside...AND outside, both before and after the show. I DARE the naysayers to tell me it's all about the Kings dammit!!

I forgot to add that the Maloof's have never cared about the fans here... they only cared about the sellouts that the fans made for them.... money in their pocket is all they are worried about. It's all business for them!
And you know that How? did you speak to the Maloof's and did they tell you that? the Maloof's give to the community every year. they have waited around and have never said that they wanted to move, until all this talk came about. So, unless you have actually talked to one of the Maloof's, then don't assume that's the way they feel

Very well said. I totally agree with everything you said.

It is still a valid claim that the Kings fans had no part in the complete mismanaging of the Kings in some respects the last few years. That "sellout" streak should have ended long before it did.

We only have 102 people that have clicked like so far. C'mon guys, I know more people have a facebook account.
Since we just set up the Twitter account, we have no followers so far. If you don't have Twitter, sign up and follow @saveourkings. And if you do have an account already, send some @ saveourkings mentions to some famous Twitter users who have Sacramento/Kings ties, like @AaronRodgers12, or @realchriswebber, to see if we can get a retweet and get some followers.

I don't twit but I signed up on FB yesterday, also trying to touch base with some of the people that made MLS happen in Portland to see if I can link back to some of the locals in Sac for how they were able to synergize the supporters(fans) with city hall and team ownership.

You don't have to "twit" (lol) to follow the account. That's all that matters, is the number of followers.

There will always be teams that are below .500 and/or at the bottom of the league. There are a number of franchises that have never won a championship. If you follow a team for most of your life, there will be plenty of crappy years. It's my hometown team and I support them as much as I can, good or bad.

Punishing the team for perceived mismanagement or poor product on the floor is what is likely to costs Sacramento having any franchise in Sacramento at all and certainly didn't help the arena issue. So if boycotting the team for those reasons, congratulations, it looks like those people are close to "winning" and really showing the Maloofs what they can do with their currently poor team. A Pyrrhic victory, indeed.

I also posted this in the New Arena forum, but think it's relevant here also:

From Jim Crandell's (Sportscaster for KTXL) Twitter:

Sac Mayor KJ wanted Maloofs to give Taylor/ICON documents relevant to arena construction today..ain't gonna happen until next week...

http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2011...-mayor-johnsons-frustration-with-the-maloofs/

Marcus Breton's (from the Bee) interview with Grant yesterday indicating that if the documents were not provided by today, we should be concerned and it is an ominous sign.
I assume the Maloof's are proud men. They were given an ultimatum from someone they don't have to answer to and if they were me, that would be just enough for me to make the mayor wait.

It wasn't an ultimatum. It was a good faith request. If it were an ultimatum, he would have said "Give the docs to us or it's over." I guarantee the Maloofs have those documents easily accessible and they definitely have some lower level employee that they could have assigned to collect and deliver to the mayor. Yet the Maloofs have already delayed this by over 2 weeks before the mayor even said anything. This is not about them being upset w/KJ. This is about what they know those documents say (in the sense that they may not help us get an arena) and their presumably promising negotiations with Anaheim to relocate.

That's what Jim Crandell has to say, that he was always told they would be coming next week. Must have been a miscommunication by the Maloofs and KJ, I can kinda see why they're shocked if they had agreed to next week. They still have a meeting scheduled next week for Tuesday so we'll see how it goes.

Ultimatum may have been too strong a word. When my boss asks me for something, she is telling me to get it done but in a nice way. When I ask my daughter to do something, it is the same thing. The "good faith request" was done by press conference and in a manner that was not in a nice way. There is a time for strong arm diplomacy, this was not that time.

The Kings are on the road. Why would the maloofs be in sacramento?
