I dont really like this superstars teaming together to win a ring.. sure the league can play it as "two people with big prides and egos humble themselves to join forces as a TEAM for a common goal" etc. but it really is detrimental to every other fanbase not in the big market city...

if the heat and lakers come out... i wont be rooting for neither... I hope the spurs knock the lakers out in the playoffs, and the celtics or some upset team dethrones the heat..

the unexpected teams to reach the finals is what makes it all the more interesting rather than the generic laker, heat, teams....

So? None of that matters to me. Has a lot more to do with NoCal, SoCal animosity.

Lets' see the Red Sox didn't win a chanpionship for 80 some years and the Giants didn't win one for 54 years. I don't think equality of team talent has as much to do with rivalries as some poeple think. Territorial rivalries generally have more to do with pride than equality of teams.
To me, this rivalry goes one way. I doubt the Lakers or LA fans even care where we have been for the last half decade. You can't compare Red Sox/Yankees and Giants/Dodgers to Kings/Lakers. Those are legitimate sports rivalries that are hyped and continually kept alive. The Kings/Lakers rivalry to me, is pretty non-existant right now. If anything, Golden State and Clippers are more likely rivals for us at this point.

Those rivalries are "hyped" becasue the fans keep them alive, regardless of competitiveness.

The Laker fans always say its not a rivlary to them. but they always go out of their way to make negative comments about the Kings and pay far more attention to the Kings than one would expect normally. Kobe always loves to taunt the crowd at Arco, too. They'll say its not a rivalry, but their "talk" online reveals otherwise. Sometimes, I feel like they make an even bigger deal about it than Kings fans. We're the team thay always love to beat.

Wow. I'm shocked that 26% of Kings fans would root for The Lakers. I see no reason to hate The Heat other than the fact that they're a bit arrogant. But The Lakers, well, they're arrogant as well, plus there's about 100 other reasons for Kings fans to hate them. Horry's shot and Game 6 alone should be enough for any Kings fan not to root for them.

i'm not the sort of person who doesn't watch the finals if my team isn't in it: If there's basketball on my tv, i'm watching it. And i'm also not the sort of person who believes that you can hate two things equally: You always hate one, at a minimum, a little bit more than the other. And i hate the lakers a lot more. Lebron james is a punk, but i would root for the klan against the lakers.
qft.

By the way, I don't think Miami can beat Boston if the Celtics are healthy, particularly if Rondo is healthy. They have no answer for him at this point. And with the way the Lakers are playing lately, they won't make the Finals either. I'd love to not have to choose between the two.

Blame the refs not the Lakers for 2002

If it came down to it, id root for the Lakers. From a basketball standpoint theyre a good team with lots of experience. I think they deserve it more.

Lakers fans are also some of the most annoying, classless, spoiled, d-bags in fandom. Not all of them of course. Just 99.99% of the ones I've run into living down in SoCal. And if you dont live down here (which I'd imagine would be the case with most Kings fans), you need only go to other forums to see what jerks those guys are (although to be fair, a lot of the people who post on forums are jerks. I'm always amazed at how civil and cool most of the people on this site are).

I dont even really hate the Lakers as much as the their fans. Even Kobe will say something nice about us from time to time. Well, I do hate Phil Jackson. Just because that guy clung to the coat tails of some of the all time NBA greats and got some rings out of it he thinks he can talk **** on anyone.

The Heat...Man, whatever. LeBron will never be the GOAT, or the GOAT of D-Baggery. Those titles both belong to MJ.

So true. The Lakers attract arrogant morons more than any other team in sports. I can't tell you how many Laker fans I've seen boasting about how they "destroyed" Boston last year. Barely beating a team in 7 games that was missing its starting center in game 7 is "destroying" them to these idiots. They can't even give props to The Celtics for a well fought series that came down to the final minute.

I do blame the refs but that doesn't mean I don't hate the Lakers for benefiting from the refs! And I disagree. The Lakers deserve it less precisely because they've been bailed out by the refs so many times. They were gifted a few titles. The refs helped save them in 2000 against the Blazers, 2002 against The Kings, and 2009 against The Celtics. They're the last team that deserves another title.

You do make a good point. Some of those rings they shouldnt had won, but what can they do? Its not their fault. Im talking about the players of course, i realy dislike the Lakers' franchise. As for 2009, they definitely did deserve the ring because they won. If only Perk didnt get injured then i have no doubt the C's wouldve taken the championship. Still, if it were the Heat vs Lakers, from a basketball standpoint i think the Lakers team deserves it more. I just hate the thought of superstars coming together and dominating the league. If Miami didnt have Lebron then i d root for them.

I don't. i think it makes the league more fun. I wasn't watching basketball in the 80s but it seems like that was a more exciting time for basketball than now. You had teams like The 76ers, Lakers, and Celtics that were loaded with hall of fame players. Of course, they didn't intentionally team up the way the Miami guys did, but the result is the same no matter how they come together.

The problem with loading teams with superstars is it creates an ENORMOUS separation between the 3-5 haves and the 25-28 have nots. It may be great for fans of those 3-5 teams, but the fans of the other 25-28 teams are left with crap to root for and presumably, we would be in that crap pile.

i see your point but I'm not really a fan of parity in sports.

After LeBron's latest douchebag tweet regarding Cleveland, I might just have to root for LA in a Lakers vs Heat finals. Blech.

Seriously, LeBron... at least act like you've made it through your teen years... what a child.

Lakers.. Used to be a Laker fan when I was a kid (up until about 1989 or so when I became a Kings fan).

I hate what the Heat stand for.

Lol if wade lebron and bosh chose sac, all these haters would love what they "stand for"
Exactly! All this manufactured disgust over them teaming up is hilarious. There isn't a fan anywhere who doesn't secretly wish their team could have pulled off what Miami did.

Now that's funny on numerous levels. I wonder how Karma will smile upon LeBron James?
Other than handling his leaving poorly, which he's said himself he'd do differently now, what has he done to deserves any karmic payback? Wanting to be on a better team? Exercising his free agency? Just what did he do that was so evil?
