Dalembert for Jason Richardson, what do you guys think?

I read yesterday that Orlando is not done dealing. They want a legit backup center for Howard after losing Gortat in the trade.

Dalembert is exactly what they want and then some. Sammy is better than Gortat and has a huge expiring contract just like Jason Richardson. Basically they swap the backcourt depth that they have for a legit 2nd option big. To content for a championship, they will need bigs to go up against the Celtics, lakers etc and they know it.

We do it because JRich is still relatively young and still very productive. Good 3 pt shooter, can create his own shot and take the offensive load off Tyreke's back. JRich is a decent defender as well and forces our opponents to guard Reke with their PG. We lose a big and though I like JT starting, we can use him as DMC's backup for now.

JRich or similar type of player is most likely the biggest borderline "star" player we can trade for and have a good chance to resign.

We have absolutely no need for a player of Jason Richardson's ilk -- older selfish defenseless gonner with a very shaky chemistry quotient -- nor can I imagine why they would move him so soon after picking him up.

People have mentioned Nelson, which...maybe. I still have my doubts they'd move him too but hwho knows. I suspect they are thinkings somethgin smaller. Shifting out Reddick or Rochardson or somebody for a lower level backup. Dalembert is kind of too major a player/contract for a 10min a night role.

What are the poor "ilk" that you see in JRich? From what I see, he is a decent defender (when he wants to be), but that goes for some many players.

According to the ESPN report I read, JRich is one of the guys that they are open to moving again. Their main goal is to land a legit backup big. Though undersized at the 2, Arenas may end up starting there if JRich is gone. Otis Smith likes Arenas too much to move him again. Nelson is supposed to be staying too as he works well with Howard.

Crawford, Stephen Jackson (although the defense is better) etc.

JRich because his contract is expiring. If we don't like him we can just let him walk and use part of the $14.4 mil his contract clears up to pursue Crawford. We are giving up a good center in Dalembert, but he is not really playing much right now and I don't think we can resign him for cheap.

I like Stephen Jackson but I don't want him on a young team as he has a history of wearing out his welcome. He is also going to be 33 soon with about $10mil/yr for 2 more years after this.

I think if we are gonna deal with Orlando and Dally is involved you just go and get Redickk. I saw a thread a minute ago, but I saw this one as well. Redick had a great series IMO against Ray Allen last year in the playoffs, he has shown he can play some pesky D. He won't lock any body down, however he also won't let you just light him up either. I also don't think Orlando would be willing to deal JRich as they probably feel he has the goods to put them over the top.

Both expire next year, so I don't see much sense in it unless you're just doing it for the extra 2 million you'd get by letting Richardson expire. I don't want any more expiring deals or cap maneuvering moves, though. I'm tired of that song and dance. Get someone who's going to be in the plans long term, or just stop it already.

With the continuing Cousins saga, I doubt Dally is traded. The Kings would have only one center that they could count on - Thompson.

Why can't we keep Dalembert past this year and put Cousins at PF? Dalembert is a true C and Cousins body type looks more like a PF to me. Is there a reason why we don't want to keep Dalembert and is Cousins just not projected to be a PF at all?

If Cousins has a PF body then I must be a ballerina.

Cousins is not quick enough to guard a lot of power forwards in the league.
