We can still have something to root for tonight. Like maybe Tyreke can go for 70 to push his ppg to 21?

I'm truly dissapointed in you guys...

Screw more ping pong balls. Like that crap has ever gone our way in the first place (we're so damn lucky Tyreke was still there at the 4 spot). There is no way in hell I could ever root for my team to lose to the ***** *** Lakers. I'd much rather our young team beat down our RIVALSgoing into the off season than a few more ping pong balls. Thats pethetic. ::shakes head::
our rivals? since when, exactly?! its been damn near a decade since that rivalry actually mattered. do you know how many kings are left from the team that took the lakers to game seven of the western conference finals? zero. hell, kobe bryant and derek fisher are the only lakers left from those days...

a perennial title contender and a lottery-bound basement dweller are NOT rivals. they just aren't, no matter how many bitter kings fans still cling to events from eight years ago. however, there is the wonderful possibility that the kings could, one day, reignite the rivalry, but that requires the kings to continue pursuing this rebuild as intentionally as they can. this includes putting the team in the best possible position come draft day. the kings are an insignificant speck of dust to the lakers right now. they're not even a spoiler worth the effort of the lakers to trot out their best players...

repeat this with me, over and over again: turner, wall, cousins, favors...

one of those names very well could appear on the back of a sacramento kings uniform at the beginning of next season, and the chances of that happening increase GREATLY if the kings are able to lock down the third worst record in the league. personally, i favor a couple of those names over the other two, but no matter which of those four an individual perceives to be the best of the bunch, or the most likely fit, each could go a long way in helping the kings achieve their goal of competing in the playoffs again...

just look at oklahoma city's trajectory. i like their trajectory. its appealing to me, because it ends with them getting a shot at toppling the lakers in a first round playoff series. how did they do it? they drafted well. they hired the right coach. they preached defense. and, most importantly, they put the ball in the hands of their franchise player. the kings could follow a similar trajectory. we've drafted well so far, but more pieces are required to make this team go. we've hired a coach who has the potential to develop a special and symbiotic relationship with his young players, provided we shove the rest of the vets aside. and we've put the ball in the hands of our franchise player...

all signs point toward a positive future, but i like that future a HELLUVALOT more if it includes a starting backcourt of evans and turner, or wall and evans, or a starting small-big combo of evans and cousins, or evans and favors. the potential of ANY of those scenarios is worth salivating over, and THAT is where the kings would have their chance to make noise in the nba. THAT is where the kings would have their chance to reignite a rivalry with the lakers. that moment is not now, though. there is work to do. a loss tonight goes a LONG way toward reaching that goal, because tie-breaker or no tie-breaker, the balls still have to bounce the kings way, and i, as a kings fan, will play the percentages EVERY SINGLE TIME...

What rivalry? The only thing I see is Lakers going to the playoff and we're not. In the end, win or lose, they can still laugh at us. This game won't change anything but additional ping pong balls can.

Our luck might not be good, that is why we depend on extra balls to boost our chance a little.

No way I'm gonna root for the Lakers but here's cheers to the 3rd pick.

I'm sorry, but anyone who think Sac-LA is still a legit rivalry, is living in the past. The history is there. But right now, these franchises are far, far apart.

Only way we become true rivals with LA, or any other top 5 team, is by getting a star in this draft, and help through free agency. A top 4 pick is the only way this team becomes good enough to actually compete with playoff teams.

Winning tonight is not only meaningless, but actually hurts us. What the hell would winnig tonight accomplish? Not even bragging rights for a day, given Kobe isn't even playing.

#66
It's not just about ping pong balls, it's also about where we fall if we don't end up in the top 3. The difference between a 4th and 5th pick can be pretty big this year. Whatever the case is, the difference between one, two, or three picks will always be bigger than one meaningless game against the Lakers.

Another positive of losing tonight is hopefully that a top draft pick gets us much closer to the day we never hear or see "lin" and "woss" again.

Youve failed to realize that perception is reality. If someone believes that the 7akers are the Kings rivals then its true to that person. I GUARANTEE you that a majority of Kings fans consider the 7akers to be the Kings rivals. Therefor the 7akers are our rivals. I know id like nothing more than to somehow cause that franchise to collapse.

The Kings MUST LOSE this game. Its a must lose.

Padrino, youre also neglecting the fact that the worse the record a team has the MORE ping pong balls they secure. Yes the balls still have to bounce the Kings way, but would you rather have 50 ping pong balls or 100? Beating a bunch of clowns wearing 7akers jerseys wont help anyone in anyway.

**** the lakers....are you guys ****ing kidding me?
Seriously. The team MUST develop a winning mentality. Beating the defending champs the last game of the year will definitely make an impression on the young core. Call me short-sighted if you want. I am a die-hard Kings fan and win or lose I have pride in my team.

The Lakers would WIN if we lost our chance at Turner or Cousins. Look at the long term. I want to see [insert top 3 pick here] helping us dominate the Lakers for A DECADE! Not one game that no one will remember 3 months from now.

I don't buy the "protect the winning attitude" excuse for wanting to win meaningless games that might hurt our draft. If we have a player on our team that doesn't have a "winning attitude" tattooed on his very sole, I don't want him on the team!

Get real people. There is no more rivalry. For nearly the last decade the Lakers have trounced us. When was the last time we won a playoff, let alone season series against them? Lakers fans laugh at our shouts of "rivalry", and rightfully so.

This is the epitomy of losing the battle but winning the war. When Kobe is 35 and has arthritis in his knees and we are throwing out a lineup with Reke and Cousins and pounding them into the ground, who the hell in their right mind is going to look back at today's game and cry over a regular season loss?

Wake up. All of the people arguing for a win need to take a statistics course. Cutting of your nose to spite your face is absurd.

Sorry...I had to rant. You don't go guns a blazing into battle when you are guaranteed that the outcome won't be favorable. Geez.

It's a joke, this isn't deciding with 30 games left "ok, playoffs aren't realistic, don't win another game". I was against that once it became clear we had keepers on this roster. This team has played with honor all season. Now we are down to one game. Winning it could add another 2 or 3 seasons to the rebuild. Anybody who hates losing so much is going to be in more agony for years to come if we win this game. Grin and bear it.

The joke is the defeatist attitude that's prevalent on this board. Put on your Laker jersey's all you fair-weather fans. Nothing would make me happier than having my Kings beat the sense of entitlement off of those yellow and purple bastards.

Grow up. I'm guessing many of the people looking for a Kings loss have been Kings fans since you were pooping your diapers.

Ha. At least I'm a Kings fan. I'm guessing many of the people looking for a Kings loss have also been Lakers fans for about 2 quarters. You included. Way to go moderator!

Ah man, my feelings are crushed. Not that I need to defend myself but if I were a "fair weather fan" I probably wouldn't have spent the past 4 years posting on KingsFans while my local team was blowing up. I'm willing to give anyone else who has been active during that time the benefit of the doubt, regardless of whether or not I agree with them, which is why I frequently find myself biting my tongue.

I don't have to defend my loyalty at all. It's refreshing. Even if the Kings lose, I can hold my head up high.

And guess what? I am effectively TROLLING on a Kings message board for a Kings win. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Someone take that website banner down. This message board has ceased to contain "the best fans." Choke on your Lakers win.

I dare for someone to ban me for rooting for the Kings. It will prove that this board is filled with egomaniacs and hypocrites.

And children lacking all perspective.

You are far too shrill to touch any real nerves just by not getting it, but you are going to have to stop being a jerk to people who have put up with years of losing.

As an aside you are not troling for the Kings to win, you are trolling for them to LOSE in the long term, whic I have always dound offensive. don't come on here and root fro my team to lose int he future and then get self-righteous about it.
