I love you Lebron, but you sir are what we call a b*@$*! Compete in the dunk contest man. He's scared to lose. All the greats have participated AND won. No reason for him to not compete other than fear of losing

All the greats being MJ, Kobe...and Nate Robinson? Richardson?

Its a young guy's game to help establish themselves. You rarely see guys in their prime championship years messing with it. Just nothing to gain, and a lot to lose (yes reputationwise).

I'm reasonably sure that Andre Miller just became the oldest player to have their first fifty-point game. Even more impressive to me is that he had forty-five, as a guard, before he first even attempted a three-point shot.

Haha yeah sure. 'Nique, Clyde the glide, Dr. J, Shawn Kemp, Vincanity, and lots of others. The dunk contest has become a travesty lately with these stars not participating.

Vince won it in one of his first few years in the league, as did Kobe. MJ didn't compete in it after... 88? Several years before his first title. That classic battle between Jordan and 'Nique was about the last time it ever really meant anything, after that it was Kenny Sky Walker, Dee Brown, yadda yadda. A few rooks and 2nd year players that turned into stars along the way, but its been a joke for 20+ years.

The hell is wrong with you people? I can't possibly be the only one who doesn't think the dunk contest isn't a "joke" just because the stars aren't in it.

It's not just cause they are stars, it's because they are the biggest names in the game and are stars and they can dunk(Lebron, Wade, etc...). The dunk contest blows now. Dwight Howard is a disgrace and Nate Robinson is no Spud Webb.

To a certain extent I could deal with the loss of star power, but all the rule changes, do-overs and scoring tweaks killed it for me.

I'm not really a fan of All-Star contests in any sport, and the NBA has far and away the best one, but for me it peaked in the late 80s/early 90s.

I kinda agree here, but still enjoy the All Star weekend. The dunks should go back to no re-dos, etc. I like the 3 pt shooting when there are big names performing. Watch the games if I can. But I don't get upset if I am busy and miss most of it either.

Well I will watch the NBA all star festivities which is more than I can say for the other leagues (I'd also watch the NHL's if it wasn't buried somewhere, a few years ago they even had it on a Wednesday).

How is it ok for Kobe to push off Sergio but not for Pierce to push off on Artest? Not to mention Artest flopped out of his minds. Superstar treatment as its finest.

Why the hell do we, as fans, put up with this crap?
