In the past month alone, the company proposing to bankroll an arena in downtown Sacramento bought a financial-management firm in Philadelphia for $450 million and launched a $400 million fund to invest in Mexico. It teamed with the government of Abu Dhabi and a Canadian pension fund to bid $6 billion for an electricity grid in England...

And then I find that ryanandty had already posted it in a different thread, so I pulled his post out and merged yours and his...

I really wasn't sure if it deserved it's own thread, so I stuck it in the more encompassing one. Seems important enough though.

If you post links to a new article into a well-developed thread, chances are some people will miss it - which is just what happened here. It's better to give a new article (especially one that brings a different topic to the discussion) a new thread and let the moderators merge them if they're too similar.

This deal HAS to get done...and I hope they can move quickly once they decide its the overall concensus right plan...hopefully by this time next year we'll have an arena deal. I know there's ALOT of I's to be dotted and T's to be crossed, but I wonder how soon we'll see progress in sealing some sort of deal?

There sure are alot of locals that seem to be against the deal, judging from the comments section. I just finished reporting all of them for abuse :D

We really need a public voice to push this idea out. I hope KJ and this arena task force could make up there mind soon and publicly vouch for this plan. KJ is swamped as it is with his duties and I hope he could appoint a popular respected local figure as a head to the task force. We need a CEO type rah rah cheerleader who can organize all these different entities together and sell this idea to the public the way Art Savage did for baseball.

Great plan, but dangit someone needs to start swinging the bat.
