Hilton Armstrong's Debut

So, with all the drama surrounding Kevin and the almost-comeback against the Bobcats, the fact that this was Hilton Armstrongs debut with the Kings was somewhat forgotten.

I must admit, I thought he was just going to be another Sean May on bench and didn't expect to see him play at all until GP makes his next move and includes him in a package in the next trade, so I was kind of surprised to see that he can actually contribute. He seems pretty athletic and a decent shotblocker, and I think he's pretty motivated now to prove that he can stay in the NBA. He was also involved in vocally encouraging the team when he was on the bench. Obviously, he is not the dominant big that we desperately need, but there is a chance he could actually make some kind of contribution off the bench, which would actually cause the deal with the Hornets to look like a good one.

What do you guys think?

He blocked a shot and did okay for his brief stint. I didn't understand why he didn't play again when we were getting killed in the paint in the 2nd and the 3rd. He had an assist too. He might not be great but he didn't look nearly as horrible or lost as I expected considering what hornets fans said/other people said. It wasn't like he was Justin Williams out there.

I thought that he blocked 1 shot but didn't really do anything else other than that. He got rejected on a dunk attempt (at least he tried to dunk, I'll give him credit for that), turned it over while attempting to go around the back when he thought he was the PG, made at least one terrible pass, missed a jumper, and grabbed ZERO rebounds in 10 minutes or so.

I don't think he's going to be our answer for the frontline. There is a reason Hornets fans were rejoicing when he was traded to us for basically nothing.

I thought his single block was really impressive. Him getting his **** thrown to the ground on a dunk attempt on Wallace, not so much. Thats alright though, Wallace is one of the best shot blockers in the game.

Yah his block was impressive. He also altered a cuple other shots with his presence. I think he's better then some people were making him out to be.

It's always entertaining to me to read the different points of view from people that all watched the exact same thing. It definitely shows who sees things more positively, and who is a bit more negative to begin with.

First off, people tend to see what they want to see. If they thought it was a bad deal, or had a bad opinion of Armstrong then they'll look for the negatives. Even if their trying to be objective. Personally I didn't have much of an opinion of Armstrong to begin with. I thought he showed promise his final year in college, but frankly that final year was a surprise considering how he had played previously. Since then I really haven't payed much attention to him.

For a first appearance, he was OK. Didn't do anything to make me not want him on the floor again. By the same token, he didn't do anything for me to get overly excited about. So the jury is still out for me. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

As far New O'rleans fans go. I wouldn't say you should ignore their opinions, but I would take them with a grain of salt. There are fans on this fourm that have low opinions of some of our players. Some I agree with and others not. So its in the eye of the beholder.
