Tyreke and Omri untouchable? (split)

I don't want to get into this whole Omri vs. Donte thing. I think they are both extremely talented and have the potential to be allstar quality players in the future.

I will, however, correct you on one thing: Donte is not younger than Omri. He is actually 4 months older.

The other thing is, understandably you guys are impressed with Donte's progress, but I'm not sure that you are aware of what Casspi has done over the summer. He is a completely different player than he was last year. He has improved pretty much every parameter of his game, and the impressive thing is the systematic way in which he does it. He sets extremely high goals for himself and doesn't rest until he reaches them.

Which brings me to your last point, about Donte having the desire to become an elite defender. I would say that Casspi has that desire just as much as Donte does. He is not as good a defender as Donte is yet, mainly because he is not as athletic, but also because he is still learning the NBA. He played pro ball in Europe and that shows in a lot of his traits, but the pace and the level of players you have to defend in the NBA is a whole different story. I can assure you that by this time next year Omri will be considered a great NBA defender.

Again, all of this is not to take anything away from Donte. I think he has great talent and I hope that him and Omri, along with Tyreke and the others, will become the legends of the new Kings dynasty.
As a Casspi fan you obviously want him to out play Donte. But as a Kings fan I just LOVE the fact that we are talking about 2 players that have the potential to be GREAT! Let the 2 show us what they can do, we have room for both on this quickly growing team.

Did you read what I wrote? I'm not saying any of these things about Casspi to take anything away from Donte. I am a Casspi fan, but I am also a Kings fan ever since Casspi joined this team. I want both of them to succeed, and when it's game time I don't care who's playing as long as the team wins. The reason I wrote those things is to provide some insight from someone who has seen Casspi play before he came to the Kings and can give some perspective on his game that maybe you guys don't have yet.

Wow.

Donte has the capacity to become one of the elite defenders in the league if he can keep his focus on that. That in my mind is what gives the edge to Donte.
Yep, an athletic sophomore who can slow down the best wing players with great offensive potential, I'd take him over Caspi.

He is the guy who lost to the Raptors last night, including getting stuffed by Bargnani... I lost respect to superman ;)
I've just seen him shut out way too much. He coasts, disappears for long streches of time, and is not a go to player at ANY point, let alone down the stretch. And people put him in with LBJ. I'd knock him down below D Wade and Melo at this point in his career.

I take a sure thing over potential. :p

Also Casspi still getting better by the week and he too have a lot of potential. But like a lot of people, I'm happy having both.

This is a very ridiculous argument. Who cares? They both play for the Kings and unless you root for the player and not the team it really shouldn't matter. I understand Casspi has a lot of fans of him and not the Kings that have been brought over, but listen yo, we love them all, we love what Casspi brings, we love what Donte brings, and we all want to see them and the team succeed. So why argue over who is better? Chill, crack a brew and sit back and enjoy the ride. All this hostility and negativity over some spilled milk. Jeez.

I don't really understand this whole Casspi vs. Greene thing. Along with Evans they are the 3 best things we have. Yes, they both seem to be natural fits at SF, but there will be plenty of minutes for both if we choose to make room for them.

half the team is relatively untouchable. Obviously JT, Reke, Green and Omri are the untouchable players because you couldn't trade them for anyone and get the same return. I like the idea of keeping the same team together for as long as possible, and just keep adding to the mix. Next summer, things will begin to get interesting because of the cap space the kings are projected to have. I would like the kings to make a run at acquiring Bosh if possible.

It's just a comparison of the two players. Noone is being hostile (well atleast I don't see it that way).

Some think Donte is better and some think its Casspi. Shaq or Kobe....it's just like that. I'm happy to have both and glad to have a discussion of how good our players are instead of discussing how bad they are.

Something to talk about while I wait for the next game.

Tyreke is effectively untouchable since there are basically 2-3 guys in the entire league with the talent/youth that you might trade him for (LeBron, Howard, CP3) and only the latter could even remotely in the wildest of imaginations ever get offered for him. Lakers offer Kobe? Go jump in a lake. Heat offer Wade? Same thing. So once you're at that level you're untouchable.

Omri is a half step back -- there are a number of players around the league you might trade him for. And Donte is a step further back still. Bu the thing is, wiht any of those guys, why would you trade them? I mean...WHY? Young team, loaded wiht young talent, bright future...out fo what sort of spasm of fan shortsightedness would you trade those guys? None of them have the value they will ahve in a year or two. None are well known enough yet to actually bring back value. And right now you are sitting on a gold mine -- your three most promising prospects are also your three youngest players at age 21 and under. One of them looks like he could be a superstar. The others both occasionally flash star stuff. You should be dreaming of 10 years of contention, not quick fixes.

Burn anythign and everything else that is needed, but not those guys.
