Schedule caught up with Kings who lost 5 out of the last 6 games. Still winless in 2010 Kings dropped to 14-19 for the season. Once great home record dropped to 11-7 as Kings lost 4 out of the last 5 home games. With few days rest and regrouping time Kings well look to re energize in a 2 game week hosting the Suns and playing the Warriors in Oakland.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being shorthanded playing against top teams 5 on 8 is very difficult and Kings did well for the most part. It became clear that we aren't there yet in terms of having a winning season and even getting close to the playoff spots. We are too weak up front and we lack depth in the back court - quality wise. Additionally, we have pieces which don't really fit. I do expect us to look better after the trade deadline and to be even better during the summer or before the training camp. Next season Kings will compete for the playoffs. This season we can enjoy being competitive against everybody at all times but that is about it. One thing we unfortunately can't control are injuries and we can export them because the abundance is off the chart.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Writing the NBA rule book is the biggest waste of time since internet was invented. No one follows them. Why have them in the first place ? Any time you hear the phrase - "they don't call that at this stage of the game" - you have to ask yourself - why bother having the rules ? NBA is turning into "wrestling" where everything is scripted. You know ho will win - you just don't know how. Our problem is that in the whole "wrestling world" we are the "anonymous guy" who gets beat up in the process of main characters getting where they need to be in order to maximize profit. NBA is certainly not a sport organization. I was sitting in a hotel room during my short vacation waiting to show Kings highlights of the Denver game which I didn't watch and didn't know the score at the time. In the one minute clip they showed 95% Nuggets & Mello and one Kings basket. I thought we lost by 50. When I saw the score I used very bad language towards the BSPN. WTF ?
And if You think that one day - Evans will get all those calls that Kobe, Lebron and others get - think again. Webber fouled out so many times in big playoff games. It is not how good you are - it is where you play and how much money can Mr Stern get.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whit this kind of refereeing Mr. Stern can forget his NBA Europe. It is different world when it comes to sports. People over there don't like to be robbed and fooled when they pay good money to watch something. You add the "professional fandom" to that equation and you can only imagine all sorts of problems. I have seen in person police and once even military police escort the guest and the referees out of the city limits after the host was "robbed." And that was at an unimportant women basketball game in a fairly small city. I have also seen police officers in uniform and in civil clothes attacking the referees when Drazen Petrovic and his team won on the road. And that city wasn't Athens or Istanbul or Madrid or Tel Aviv. We are talking about crazy crazy people that show up to the stadium 2 days before the game and stay 2 days after. In Euro League - You don't win much on the road and you certainly don't have a winning road record very often if ever mostly because the referees like to live.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't like Mavs and never will but You have t give Cuban credit to keeping that team on highest level at all costs. While he probably will never win it all for obvious reasons - Mavs have been to almost as often as the Spurs. Yet again they have a great veteran team and coach, playing very good defense and while they won't win it all - they will be right there o be robbed by "Heat" again. I don't like them but they deserve respect.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Will we ever seen Thompson and Hawes play well at the same time. It is always one or the other. Hawes was better last night that JT was in LA which isn't all that hard but it was bad again. When You go from 30-11-5 to 9-4-2 - very disappointing. Is it a mental thing or is it just a fact that jump shooting center will oscillate like that - I don't know. I do however know that in order for us to be good - we need both of them playing well at the same time every time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sergio Rodriguez is the 4th or 5th best PG that Spain has. There are currently at least 10 PGs playing in Europe which are better than he is. Only reson why he was successful over there is his speed which is off the charts for Europe but in the NBA - just average. His shooting and decision making have always been questioned and defensively his is couple levels below Mike Bibby. He is a "temp" in a Kings team going places. He is just playing here until we get someone better which won't be difficult. He is cheep too. We just have to live with it for a little bit.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings couldn't handle the situation last night. Physically and emotionally drained from the LA robbery they had no chance against a veteran team well rested and ready to play. Kings put up the fight but an uphill battle was just too much. We allowed way too many layups and easy baskets. Turned the ball over too much and just missed shots all night long. When Jason Kidd shoots 6-7 from the field - Mavs won't lose often.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM - As expected Barea won it in the first quarter. Scored 7 points above is average and hurt us pretty bad in the 2nd quarter run that won Mavs the game. Our own Drew Gooden came close 2nd.

LW-VC - Dampier did not abuse us

JHA - Hawes - frustrating inconsistancy

MIKKI - Sergio

SAR - Metuselah - Shawn Marion - what happened to him ?

RA&1 - Jason Terry

Jax/Walk - Udoka

DC-DT goes to Evans. He has been playing on one leg as well as he can.

WTF moment of the game - lose ball in the 2nd half. Terry and Rodriguez are going after it. Terry fouls him twice. I go in the kitchen to get a drink and when I came back - Terry is shooting free throew. I spilled the drink all over me
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Suns are next and first problem for us is the fact that they were trashed by Grizzlies at home where they lost by 25 despite the game never being that close to begin with. On the other side - we surely can beat a team which gets trashed by the Grizzlies at home by 25. Both teams have few days off. Neither team defends well so we can expect lots of points. Kings will have to play slower pace in order to win this one because if we get caught up on the 3pt shooting contest we will lose.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
My key matchups for Tuesday night

Hawes vs. Frye - which center will shoot and hit more threes ?

Udrih vs Dragic - real vs fake Slovenian

Barbosa vs Amudsen vs TDM - Barbosa used to be lock of all locks for the TDM bur our own Amudsen will be fired up

Amudsen vs Brockman - I want to see it

Sergio vs Kingsfans.com - will he finally be blamed for the global warming ?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Evans - has to initiate offense much quicker
Udrih - keep it up
Casspi - class
Hawes - twice in a row was too much to ask
Thompson - bounced back as expected

Udoka - do what you know how
Sergio - this isn't Europe
Brockman - more minutes please
Greene - I wish he was smarter
Noc - trade please

rest - mateen
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Suns are 21-13 and 8-10 on the road. Had a great start of the season. Seem to play top teams great but lose against "lower" opponents. That is where we come in. They play what they can and know how. If You get caught up in that - You will lose. Amudsen gets the TDM, LW-VC better goes to Frye in order for us to win the game. Hill will get his SAR-Metuselah one way or the other. We need to stop this slide but if we don't - that is why we have the Nuggers for.

I hope Sergio plays a good game and redeems himself from sucking a little bit in the last games. Last game against the Suns he played pretty well, it's a good team to use him against.

Frye will hit ten 3's just because he loves hanging out in our city so much.

Edit: that being said...Kings lose this one by like 16.

Wow, what have you done for me lately??? I still like Noc, Ime and Sergio. They are important players off the bench. Remember early in the season when Noc set the tone for hustle and defense? Ime has played good defense and better offense than should be expected for a waiver wire pick up, remember those 3 point shots in Chi-town??? Sergio was brought to Sac for the cost of dropping 7 places in the SECOND round so GP could pick Brockman. Sergio is the second coming of JWill, remember that guy? It was No, No, No, great shot, No, No, No, clang!!! No, No, No great pass and the guy was fun but he made his coaches hair turn grey:)

Lighten up, it is fun and its good:) The Kings are improving before our eyes.

I think Sergio can go far in this league, at least an starter PG or important PG from the bench, he has JWill pass abilities and he is more hard worker. But he is being given confidence by Westphall and he has to get concentrated in every game; he isn't a rookie anymore. He is more free here with Westphall, but he has to stop being irregular and deal with his minutes.

About him being the 4th or 5th PG of Spain...I don't agree If he hasn't go to the national team it's because the ****ing scariolo Scariolo got his playmakers: Raul Lopez (who passed one year in Utah Jazz as a benchwarmer) and Carlos Cabezas (solid PG but not better than Sergio). The only two PG who may be better than him are Ricky Rubio and Calderon.

I think this series of bad games will stop soon, but losses against Lakers are hard to eat

why all the Udoka hate?

the guy isn't a rookie or a young player -- when know exactly who he is and what he gives us

remember when he hit 4 three's in the 4th a couple games back and got us the big W -- the guy isn't a consistent scorer and doesn't shoot at a high clip -- it's Westpahl's choice to play him because he knows EXACTLY what Udoka brings to the game.

I think Cabezas gets minutes mostly due to his defense. God only knows why Lopez does.

Besides, I haven't seen Llull play yet this season, but he might be better then Rodrigues as well.

the back court of the suns will have a problem against tyreke

well the key here is to defend the 3 point line... no open looks... and there's no one here to guard that needs "help defense" JT can handle amar'e with his size...

a young team trying to help on defense usually ends up with an open 3... and we dont want that

ill be watching the game at home i am so glad i am able to watch more kings games now its about time!

LLull is more a SG than a PG altough he plays at both positions, but I agree he may be better than Sergio. It's more athletic and defends better, but he doesn't have Sergio's court vision. I think he can be solid in the NBA if he decides to come in two years...

Hmm...I can understand Noce and Sergio to an extent, but why Udoka? He's been solid so far defensively and doesn't make a lot of noticeable mistakes.
Agreed, he's like Brockman, they do what they're best at. No more, no less.

Sergio and Noc sometime try to be a little more than what they can be.

But at the same time he also doesn't contribute too much and at times seems to become possessed by the same ghost of Kobe that's been controlling Noce the past few weeks, couple that with his free throw flubs and I just am not feeling him at the moment.

He plays defense.

That's all I need to be feeling anybody as we wallow around in the bottom 1/4 of the league again defensively.

Yeah. It's just a matter of preference right now. I was huge fan of us signing him but right now for whatever reason, he's on my hate list. Just like how Donte was on my "WTF is he on the floor for?!!!" List for a loooong time until he finally began to show signs of skills other than knocking out a guy in the tenth row with a forced three. I'm sure I'll be back on the Udoka bandwagon soon enough.
