I had a big one right after that foul on Arenas...which evaporated about 1o seconds later. Shows how cool that kid is even when he makes a big mistake.
He didn't even make a mistake. That was NOT a foul that should have been called, especially in crunch time when referees call it even tighter. Tyreke is clutch though...

He worked Arenas the whole game. Gilbert had the threes and the bailout calls to keep the Wiz in it, but the matchup looked pretty one sided in Evans favor.

Getting pick pocketed is one of the most embarassing things that can happen to a player especially with the game on the line. I wonder how arenas feels by getting owned by a rookie? Haha that was so clutch. I'm watching the game with a bunch of friends who are all lakers fans and they are soooo impressed. They can't even find anything bad to say about him... He's a special kid. His demeanor and all. Very mellow and grounded. This was my first full game watching the kings play and they're something else man. They've come along way since last year. Good to see them and Evans get the media attention too

Yeah, my question is how does Tyreke not have a steal credited in the box score? I could have sworn he had one or two earlier in the game, but even if not, what the HECK do you call that play with 3 seconds left if it wasn't a steal?

maybe it was a close call but it looked like tyreke grabbed on a couple times as gil was moving...certainly wasn't HOLDING him, but he was grabbing. ticky-tack foul but you don't want to give the refs the chance to make that calll. i say it was a mistake, but he more than redeemed himself

All my buddies are Blazer fans and last night after the game everyone one of them told me how impressed they were with Tyreke and you should hear some of things the Portland coaches and media have said if you haven't heard them yet. Truly is a special player.

One of the announcers compared him to a younger shaq, when he sat down for his postgame interview. He said it wouldnt be fair if he a had jumper the same way it wouldnt have been fair if shaq could make free throws when he was in his prime. Pretty high praises from a non-kings homer. The scary part is Tyreke can/will develop a jump shot, shaq will never shoot a high free throw percentage from the stripe. Congrats on a great gaem on both sides of the court reke! keep it up young fella!! NICE WIN, GO KINGS!!!

Its not out of the realm of possibilty he starts getting consideration for the allstar team.
I think you're absolutely right. Of course, the Kings record will hurt his chances but the fact of the matter is if he wasn't on this team our record would be much like last years -- that's how valuable he is for us.

yea he was grabbing the jersey a little but did not grab and hold. and he definitly did not prevent gilbert from moving. no foul should be called in that situation. u rarely see fouls called before the inbound. shocked to see it called in that situation.

Sure, that might have been a bad call but you gotta remember the Wiz got robbed on a 2 pt shot when the shot clock didn't get reset. They would have possibly been tied on that possession if the shot clock operator/refs had got that right so I think things even out in the end.

The referees missed a couple of big calls tonight. The shot clock not getting reset for the Wizards was unbelievable that all 3 guys missed that. Also, when Gilbert blocked Beno's layup it should have been goaltending. The replay clearly showed the ball hitting the glass first.

As for the call against Reke I don't have a problem with that whistle. He grabbed his jersey which is pretty much an automatic foul. Not a smart play there by Reke but he more than made up for it with his steal and 2 FT's at the end.

That is confusing, maybe since he never gained possession before he was fouled they don't count it as a steal, but I really don't see why that shouldn't be a steal. ESPN's game recap line even says "Evans has 26, big steal to lift Kings past Wizards."

he didnt have possession. he knocked the ball away from arenas and then gilbert fouled him.

The rule is that you have to gain possession of the ball to be credited for a steal. Gilbert was called for a "loose ball" foul before Reke was able to get control of the ball. He never gained control until after the whistle and that is why he wasn't actually credited for a steal.
