Phil Jackson confirms: Lakers and Kings ARE rivals

I wonder how many profanities we can throw the Laker's way in this thread? Hey, it's nice to know we have a pulse again! Hey, we may lose a couple or few to them this year, but we'll make sure their *** remembers EVERY second of who and where they just played!!

I was thinking the same thing. Did anyone actually hear him say this or is it only in print? Knowing Phil, he said it with disdain in his voice. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him...as the saying goes.

I think he said that to annoy the Nuggets, not to praise/admit our rivalry. Like do not think that much about this win, we do not care and/or consider your team is a rival anyway. Phil reminds me of Sir Alex Ferguson - both are super successful managers but love annoying "mind games" with other managers or teams.
Plus, I think there is no such thing is rivalry in NBA now. I just do not see it. Obviously, it depends on what we think this word really means but IMO the Celtics-Rangers derby (e.g.) is a rivalry; Inter-Milan derby is a rivalry, Real-Barca classico is a rivalry. Again, it is just my opinion.

I don't think Phil Jackson is - or should - be worried quite yet. I'm enjoying the youthful exuberance of our new team and new coach but even I, the resident Kings homer with 3 inch purple lenses, am not ready quite yet to buy my tickets for the 2010 WCF in the belief the Kings will be a part of them.
Indeed! I hear what you're saying VF, and I'm not jumping onto the Kings making the playoffs bandwagon just yet...but what we CAN do is give him hell again when they come to town during the regular season. Playoffs or no playoffs, our excitement is returning, and that cant bode well for opponents...especially the Lakers, becuase after all...we ARE without a doubt the loudest arena in basketball in the NBA and quite possibly in the world!!
Sorry Hoopsie, but you HAVE to remember what 130 decibels sounds like when Arco is rockin', right?? Especially after Bibby's shot in Game 5! They made this HUGE deal about how loud the fans were in Oakland during the playoffs a couple years ago, but the most they could do was 110 decibels...our 130 was just a little bit louder, eh??

I was at the last game of the Puerto Rican basketball league's finals and the home team (who hadnt even been in the playoffs in like, 10 years) ended up winning the chip.
The arena was maybe junior college sized but jeeze....Crowd erupted, mobbed the court, people were throwing firecrackers and cherrybombs everywhere. All the players were carried out by the fans to the town's park, instant revelry with like, 6 bands. Rum and beer everywhere.
Phil is such an effin d-bag though. I hope Jack Nicholson punches him in the face after the Kings blow them out in Staples.
