Lakers discussion

yep.... shaq proved that when he went to miami that he could do it... but duncan and kobe wouldnt work if they were traded for each other. shaq, manu and parker would have eliminated the lakers with duncan on the squad because duncan wouldnt want to guard shaq and the lakers would not have a center.... maybe if it were after shaq went to miami but then the lakers wouldnt have much of a team.... they had no roleplayers and no depth at all to win a ring if that went down.... what would their starting lineup look like with duncan?

no fisher, smush was their pg....
kobe...
walton
duncan
mihm...

duncan on the lakers could win it all today, in fact that would be over kill. though the spurs wouldnt be that bad of a team with gasol and fillers to make up for the trade. though the lakers wouldnt have much depth... it would be traded for duncan.

those are shaqs rings... you could have replaced kobe for any other sg in the league at that time and they would still win. you dont think that they would have won with carter or mcgrady there instead of kobe?
Well using your same logic(which i think is flawed) what if Kobe was traded for manu? The Spurs with Kobe would be beat a team of the Lakers with Manu.

thats assuning that they make the same amount of money... they didnt then and they sure as hell dont now.... with my example i took their salaries into consideration.... you would need more than manu to make up for kobes salary... espcially since manu was on a 2nd round pick rookie salary salary at the time... and wasnt in the league when the lakers won their 3 rings... his rookie year was 02-03... and was a 2nd year player when shaq was traded. he was making less than a million at the time and kobe was making more than 10 times that amount. but shaq and duncan were both making bank. it would probably take duncan and some filler for shaq.

Hey you were the one that used Manu as an example in your previous post reguarding how good the Spurs would have been with Shaq.

And the Bobcats join the Pacers (!!!) as the only two teams in the league that have beaten both the Lakers and the Celtics this year.

A Pyhrric victory in my opinion, though: Gerald Wallace.. :(

Jeez, Crash just loves to throw that body around. I can see why Petrie was hesitant to make any deal with the walking concussion. I still love Wallace though. Back to thread...

Bynum injure again. X rays negative. MRI done tomorrow. Against Memphis again, I wonder who they are going to give us this year to make up for this. Arg.

Poor Bynum. Hope that's not serious, but he was in some mega pain there. Best case is gonna be 4-6 weeks for a sprain, hopefully not worse.

Angle of impact makes you think it probably wasn't an ACL at least...

Well, the gd lakers always get everything handed to them when they don't deserve it, so they'll probably trade Ariza for Granger, or something like that...

Actually there is an article on SacBee.com right now that states the Lakers might have a new found interest in Brad Miller with Bynums recent injury. Im too lazy to link right now....sorry

I think it's just wishful thinking from SHC. I seriously doubt the Lakers have any thought of going after Miller. The article is laughable. His facts are questionable too. (Bynums' not having surgery this time.)
Sheldon Williams and Quincy Douby thrown in...pass.
I'll take the "standing pat" lineup in the article, thanks.

Having Brad would help the lakers out a lot. Brad can play within the triangle easily. Odom is ok but the lakers have a deep bench that can replace odom's effect, but not a 7 foot center's. It would be a bad deal for the Kings since it doesn't make them any better as a team and helps out a rival.

Yeah Brad would help if he actually played like a 7 foot center. I pass on Miller, our lineup with Odom is 10000000000000 times better than if you would replace him with Miller.

Brad Miller helps LA? E gads.

To all our Laker fan friends: It would serve you all right if, for reasons known only to himself, the Cupcake decided he needed Brad Miller. Of course, with our luck, he would retransform himself into the banging inside center we actually thought/hoped he would be...

Anybody watching Cavs v Lakers? I hate the Cavs home pa. Its annoying. Its like being in a club watching a basketball game. What a difference bettwen Cleveland and Boston, the lack of noise in the background gave the game a different feel.

The Lakers scare me. How in the hell do they make Sczerbiak look like the second coming of Jordan??? He even did the freaking shoulder shrug!!!! Anyway, once West comes back Cleveland is going to be really freaking good. Depth everywhere. If JJ Hickson ever develops (still very very young and offensively raw) they will be set. Big Z and Ben are pretty much done after this year. I'm surprised that Big Z hasn't already broken down. Too many miles on those old surgically repaired ankles. I don't know how they are with cash, but somehow they need to find money for a servicable big man.

I like Hickson. And as for the big man, flip Sczerzbiak's ender for someone...like Joe Smith, part deux?

Hikson single-handedly lost them this game against the Lakers by failing to box out Odom about six or seven times in the third quarter. It was ridiculous. I would bench him for a month.
exactly.... him and ben wallace. how do you miss a 2 handed dunk.

This is the problem that young players who have relied on their athleticism instead of fundamentals have. Odom looked like Shaq circa '97. How Mike Brown stood for that I have no idea. I kept waiting for him to run on the court, push JJ out of the way, and guard Odom himself.

The Rockets fans are torching Adelman and Artest for the loss vs LA tonite. Ron got duped into a scoring contest w/ Kobe at the end, it was ugly. They also lost 3 straight to MFLA after holding 18, 16, 11 pt leads. They are not in a good headspace rite now, as you could probably understand.

someone should tell artest that you shouldnt talk **** when youre about to lose and you shouldnt talk **** to the guy that torched your team when you played like ****
