Brunson Out for the Playoffs

Um..well...kinda got a bad feeling when coach Boucek was saying pregame before they played Houston that "the San Antonio doctors evaluated her and we're going to have our own doctors evaluate her when we get home"

Never really bodes well when you have to consult somebody else's doctors anyway...

So, their road isn't going to get any easier...

From Debbie Arrington's report today...

:( I know the team will step up. I just feel for Brunson...she tried & got us in this position...''Thanks Brunson''. Get well & your presence on the bench will be huge!

i just read on another board that Chelsea is also not right, and that she will have surgery after the season ends ... i loves me my M's ...so good luck Chelsea !!!! ... can we just put the whole team in to surgery at seasons end ... and try to get healthy for 2009 ??? ...

alternatively, maybe we should tank in 2009 and get a #1 draft pick ... why not put all the bad together at one time and get something good out of it ... ???

nah, seriously i am really proud of the M's this year, they really earned their playoff spot, and it will serve the rooks well to get that valuable playoff experience, something that, say, Minny is not getting this year ...

Well, that pretty much stinks. Good luck with rehab, Bek! :(

I think we all know what this means in terms of personnel the next few seasons. We need to keep acquiring healthy post players. I don't think we have to tank for #1 picks, but we need to be better players in the free agency and trade markets. I know there are some posts out there with little to no knee issues.

I do agree with Uncommonclay that the Monarchs' rookies will get some more playing time in this playoff run. And it will be beneficial for them, because of the experience they receive, and that will be helpful to the Monarchs next season as well.

When this Monarchs' season began, I knew that this would be a considered as a rebuilding year even before Yo signed with Seattle, and I felt that we would not make the playoffs. Therefore, I had lowered expectations. But the fact that we made the playoffs (thanks to that seven-game winning streak before the Olympics), is just icing on the cake. Now, the younger players will know what it's like to be in the playoff pressure cooker. And in the long term, that experience will help the players and the team as well for next year.

As for Bekkah and Chelsea...get well soon! As much as I want to see my Monarchs win with both of you playing, I'd rather see you get healed up for next season!

Good luck, ladies!

Chelsea had said in a Bee article before the team left for their Texas odyssey that she's got floating fragments in her ankle and it will definitely need surgery to clean that stuff out. Since the floating stuff, is well..floating...she doesn't know when one will wind up in the wrong place and knock her out like it did in the game against Seattle when she sat the 2nd half. They left her here to conserve whatever she has left in the ankle for the playoffs...So she's in a similar sort of situatin that Brunson was in before the break - where you roll the dice and hope it feels good and stays good.

Definitely agree that the way this team can add talent is by free agency and trades. With all they had going wrong for them this year in terms of injuries and whatnot, I'm not sure this franchise or personnel is built to tank. For all intents and purposes with the talent that sat for stretches in street clothes or hobbled out onto the floor for this team and how incredibly young as they got - this team should be a lottery team right now as competitive as the West was this season.

In what little I did hear of their interview with coach Boucek last night, she's very much expecting Whiz to add talent next year.
