Did Anyone Hear the Ron-Ron Controversy?

I heard this on 1140 as well, the only part I've found is in the Sac Bee where there is the quote about Theus quitting in Miami. Basically all he said was that he was glad that coach didn't give up on the starters and put in the young guys early like he did in Miami. He probably could have worded that a little better but it really wasn't that bad.
However I haven't seen anything on the part about Beno and Martin and that could be far worse. To put down the guys who played the best during the comeback last night right afterwards is very poor form.

I won't post his comments from the Bee, you can read them at that link, but they were just completely inappropriate. Not only that, but it's clear that he thinks he should always be in the game. This is from a guy that was too "sick" to show up for shoot-around in Miami and then was miraculously cured by game time. Theus broke his own rule by allowing Ron to play in that game at all. You don't show up for shoot-around, you don't play, supposedly. He seems to make a quite a few exceptions for Ron's behavior.

Artest is not a punk. He just isn't very smart. I didn't hear the quote in the context of the conversation he was having with the reporter, (the audio) but I am sure there was no malicious intent. The writer probably took the snippet of sound bite he wanted and ran with it to create some sort of controversy.
well artest does have a point about that particular line up. i mean lets face it, no one would ever accuse any of those guys as being lockdown defenders... beno tries but quicker pgs can get the best of him, douby could be much better, but he gambles too much instead of just keeping his man in front of him, and kevin... well he just plain sucks on defense. but while i agree with ron ron's assesment i can't say i agree with the delievery. you say this type of thing behind closed doors, face to face with your coach and your teammates. its in bad taste to say this sort of thing to the media.

I think the players should come out and say something like..
"It's great when we have five players on the floor who pass the ball to one another. we (the Kings) end up getting an open shot, rather than the ball with three seconds left to shoot, because one man couldn't create for himself after holding the ball for 20 seconds"

We’re 14.5 games out of the playoff picture, while other teams are within one or two games difference of changing playoff positions.

You first wonder why the coach took out Beno for seven straight minutes and then you wonder why he’s in the game because he sucks at defense. All I’m going to say is, is it just me or does Ron contradict himself?
I wish this guy thought before he spoke. I really do. This year has been a rollercoaster with him. Somebody on this board said it best “it’s a love/hate relationship with Ron.” I agree. Plus, I’m tired of talking about him all the time.
I think there needs to be audio available to hear after each post game (the entire interview with players/coaches). So if there is a comment like what Ron said we could hear all of it, from start to finish. So at least we know when the media is stirring up something.
I no way should think that Ron should be our primary offensive option. What’s even worse than Ron thinking that he’s Kobe, it’s when the coach tells you in a subliminal way that you’re the focal point of the team. Nooooooooooooo. Not good.

So, umm, Ron: does this mean you're responsible for AJ getting all those minutes, since we need to play vets to, you know, win a championship this year?
(If he likewise considered Bibby to be a liability because of his weak D, it would be easy to see where the rumors of an Artest-Bibby feud might have come from.)

Sorry, but "running" the offense through Kevin is a joke. Kevin is a great scorer, and good at drawing fouls, but Kevin doesn't get double teamed. Kevin doesn't cause huge mismatches down low and pass out of the double team creating open looks for teamates. Yes, Ron would be wise to keep his mouth shut sometimes, but you can't deny his value to the team on the court.
Ditto.. K-Mart should be a guy you kick to when driving to the lane. You can't run the offense through Martin. It wont work. But it's not working very well running it through Artest either because his idea of getting the team involved means holding the ball and watching them all stand around.
The team will have a chance to get better once Artest is gone.
I'm not saying run the offense thru Kevin. I just mean he should be our number 1 option to drive to the lane. Personally, I would rather have the offense go thru Miller than Artest. For some reason when Miller has the ball the offense runs smoothly. With Artest, everyone just watches him and standing around.
