I'm beyond estatic right now...congratulations Eli and the rest of the New York Football Giants....fantastic comeback.

:)

VF21, you won't be banned, but perhaps you will be on Arlen Specter's list of people to chat with about assorted stuff that he should have better things to be concerned with than..

Patriots will win by at least 10 points. I'm guessing NE 34 - NY 24.

Gosh, I guess I missed that one. The Giants absolutely floored me with how well they played. Solid coaching and game preparation played a big part in this one. They were in Brady's face all day and didn't allow the passing game to get going. Excellent 4th quarter performance by Manning.

Congratulations, New York Giants, you earned it!

After Moss caught that pass in the fourth quarter i thought to myself - oh no not again - the ever so smug Patriots thinking that they are going to steal still another game late in the fourth as if it's only a matter of time. And then Moss doing his hand gesture like a fish in a bowl or something - after his touchdown. What the h3ll is that anyway.

I was so flipping happy to see the Giants come back in the last few moments and was thrilled that Plaxico caught the winner. Brady scoffed at the fact that he boldly predicted a 23-17 win for the Giants trashing the notion that the Pats could be held to only 17. Plax was not so far off and they didn't even get 17. The odd get even. Great game!

Well, 6 of us were right! :D (in the poll)

The only thing better would have been if Moss didn't get a TD. That was one of the best SB I've seen. I went to a SB party and there were only 3 of us pulling for the Giants...what a blast!

Eli Manning grew up during these last 4 games in the playoffs and winning the ultimate in the end. Everything everybody ever had questioned about Eli before these last games was shot down and destroyed. He no longer will be known as Eli the punk as a player, but Eli the Super Bowl Champion. Love him or hate him, he led his team to a ring, and you cant deny that. Me as a lifelong 49er fan even have to give credit where credit is due, I loathe everything Dallas, and hate the Cowboys...but have to recognize that they have 5 Super Bowl rings just like my Niners. It was an incredible coaching job by Coughlin, too...that cant be denied, either. That NY defense is awesome, too. I cant wait for next season already!

I can't believe someone I went to middle school and half of high school with won a super bowl ring.

not really a good kid (nice to me though), he took roids in college too

Back to Back for the Manning family;)
Now that was some special game, players making big plays...the escape from Manning & the catch was just amazing. I am so thrilled to see NY come out & play with so much Heart.

As for the Patriots staff...sorry you got busted for the illegal taping & couldn't get near the Giants walk through. You may have got my Rams, but your karma went out the door & hit you on the way out.

NY GIANTS SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!
NFC TAKES BACK TITLE...SWEET.

The Pats have already paid for their mistake regarding the illegal taping. And what are you talking about the Pats didn't go near the Giants walk through. I didn't even know they were trying too. Also, they DENIED the taped walkthru with the Rams.

By the way, do you think you could have made this post any bigger?

As much as i had come to despise the smug attitude of the Patriots over the course of this season, especially Randy Moss, i have to say that i was extremely impressed w/ how they handled themselves in the post game interviews, especially Randy Moss.

From the things i heard there was no whining or complaining or put downs. They had nothing but positive things to say about the Giants performance. Even when they could have (and bear w/ me now cause this may only be my perception) argued that Manning was in the clutches at midfield w/ only a minute plus to go and should have been whistled down before escaping out of the pile to send off that ball that became the miracle catch by Tyree. I do have to call that The Catch of All Time Super Bowls (sorry Dwight Clark) given all the variables that were acting on this matchup and moment.

But again, something i gotta do is respect the Pats for showing some real class and respecting the phenomenal effort by the upstart New York Giants. I don't think this could happen again in a million years and would be surprised if the Giants came anywhere near a Super Bowl next year.

But the fact is, they played the game of their lives. So much heart. So tenacious on defense. They shut down one of the most talented offensive juggernauts in the history of the game....

Wow.

Yeah. I've been bagging on the Patriots all season long for being classless. I have to give them credit for being gracious in defeat last night. I didn't watch all the post game interviews, but I didn't hear anything negative or disrespectful. They were all very gracious and respectable. I appreciate that.

Belichick, on the other hand, was Belichick, as always. I can't help but marvel at his aloof personality. I wonder if that's a byproduct of being such a brilliant football mind. And while I respect his accomplishments and his football acumen, I have to wonder if he's losing his edge. His abrasive front isn't as intimidating as it used to be, and he's kind of been brought back down to earth this season, with the taping scandal and now the biggest Super Bowl upset in history. And some of the decisions he made last night (going for it on 4th and 13 instead of trying the field goal being the most glaring one) kind of showed that he isn't as untouchable as he has been regarded in the past.

But it was a great game, start to finish, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Eli was absolutely terrific in this game! He responded to every Pats attack, he was so patient in finding his receivers, best game of his which I've seen. The Giants deserve that win even though I was rooting for the Patriots

Think about what they just lost besides the Super Bowl. A chance to be immortalized. To do something that may never happen again. To be remembered throughout history as the greatest team ever assembled. I mean it's hard to put into words exactly what it was but it was all riding on that game and it slips through your fingers on dramatic plays like that 4th and one at midfield, that third and 8 to Smith out on the right sideline where he miraculously tip toes to the first down marker before falling out of bounds to stop the clock and then the Hail Mary to Tyree at the 15 yd line or whatever to set up the waning seconds winning score.

I mean after that crushing defeat the Pats go out and do nothing but pay positive regard to the Giants. That had to show some class...

Just will leave it at that. Only to say that that is one of the things that impresses me the most besides the grandeur of the kind of wins that Tiger, or Federer or the Patriots put together. But when you go down, finally go down, cause we all go down sooner or later, how do you handle it....

Being brought down to earth? He was one freakish play away from coaching the best season in NFL history. (but I do sooooo find the guy irritating)

and btw, that bum Eli is the QB of my fantasy football team (in a semi-keeper league) I have a real decision to make!

(is his late-season suckitude REALLY broken? If so his stock is quite high!)

First Spygate, now losing the biggest game of his career, with more negative attention hanging over his head going forward...

He's not untouchable, the way he was three years ago. The Patriots don't just continue to win in the face of all odds, losing free agents, plugging holes after injuries, contract holdouts, etc., and still winning Super Bowls. They even went out and grabbed as much offensive talent as they could, and while they had a great year, they still came up short in the biggest game of their careers.

And when you consider Belichick's decision to go for it on 4th and 13, along with the decision to keep sending out 5 receivers instead of keeping a man in to help slow down the Giants pass rush, you have to look at him and wonder what's going on in his head, as opposed to marveling at the great decision making that led him to three Super Bowls in four years. He used to be this ultra-conservative play-caller, a micro-manager even, but he was always under control of the situation. He didn't appear in control last night. At times, it looked like he was in over his head.

And a part of my opinion has to do with the sense of entitlement the Patriots seemed to have prior to this game, and most of the season. Sort of like Tom Brady's reaction to Plaxico Burress predicting that they would only score 17 points, as if because they scored 37 points a game that it would just come automatically. Players were inviting the Giants to their celebration after party during the game. Richard Seymour told the Giants offense to give up on the game-winning drive. They acted like they were "supposed" to win it all. They were all brought back down to earth.

I agree with you. I can only imagine being in that situation. That's what I was trying to say. They were all very gracious in defeat, except for Belichick.

And why isn't Randy Moss playing in the Pro Bowl now? I can understand Tom Brady, but unless Moss is injured, the NFL should require him to be there.
