Brian Agler?

Terrible hire, plus the ESPN story said Clay Bennett did the hiring. Wouldn't the new ownership want to make that decision?

Makes no sense.........

Perhaps because the new owners are not yet officially "approved" by the WNBA Board of Governors yet. They have just secured the rights to buy the Storm, but pending a detailed process that involves full financial disclosure by the new "Force 10 Hoops LLC" partners and a business plan to determine how the Storm will operate separately from the Sonics' support in the past. The WNBA powers-that-be will make their decision by the end of February. But until then, Force 10 Hoops LLC cannot make any coaching decisions.

PR...I pulled that picture from the Rebkell site, I have no idea whose babies they are! I know Chealsea sure looks like a mom;) That is the coolest, cutest photo & I really like the Black & White finish. If anyone knows the story behind the photo please tell.

I agree with you 100% 6th I am not a big fan of Agler...good luck Storm....
I bet they wish Anne D. was back!

That guy was a WHACK GM in Minnesota and I just don't think he got to be a better personnel man with time. I have missed yelling at his whiny-butt on the sideline so in that sense I'm glad he's back.

I also hope he gets to be reunited with Betty Lennox...:giggle:

EDIT: I have no idea who those babies are either, but if they help her keep her upper body strength in some new regime she might be on, I'm all for it. :D

Just a little weightlifting, how many pounds do you think they weigh;)

Well I guess if I give Angler any props it would be his 2 ABL championships with the Columbus Quest...if my facts are right. Too bad his girl Katie Smith is gone...

I watched some of their wins vs. The Lasers, the Quest was tough.

Yeah, a team with Katie Smith, Nikki McCray (back when she was good :))Shannon Johnson, Andrea Lloyd Curry should have won titles...and begrudging props for that (although I hated him and the Quest too, I'm sensing a pattern here lol)

Other than trying to draft or sign every freaking player who ever played for the Quest onto the Lynx roster, he drove the Lynx into the ground and had a penchant for trading everybody he ever drafted out of college, especially his first round picks....giggle. I really hope he tries that with Seattle, or trades us their first round pick and cuts out the middle man. ;) He really needs to be mentioned in the same breath as Trudi Lacey, I mean seriously.

Oh yeah, they had Vallerie Still as well. Back then I thought it was awesome, but I was a fan of the Lasers & the New England Blizzard. I really would have liked to catch more games that ''YO'' played in... then it all ended.
Lucky for us we got the Wnba & our MONARCHS:)

What is the story with Agler and Lennox?
Could she be available?
Lennox off the bench in Sacramento? I'm sure she must have some kind of relationship with Boucek. Could you imagine Lennox's relative (that man on the Seattle baseline wearing those loud a** pimp Huggy bear suits) at Arco Arena?

A good job with Dan Hughes' players and with the Coach of the Year looking over his shoulder? I guess...:shrugging shoulders:

I don't remember all of the particulars of the Lennox/Agler feud, I have a vague recollection of her having had some sort of surgery for an injury she had in 2001, then coming into 2002 with some question marks on her health which were further fueled by the way Agler wanted to use her in his lineup. Some with better memories than mine recall him wanting to move her to PG. But the fact that that conversion did not work well and whatever else was going on behind the scenes betweem them, Agler shipped her off to Miami midseason. From what I vaguely recall, she purportedly fluked Miami's physical and they wanted to rescind the deal and Agler was so adverse to having her back on his roster that he sweetened the deal by giving up their first round pick and Miami took her anyway. Agler, who wore dual hats in Minny, stepped down as coach a few weeks later - which raised the question, why trade her if you were gonna fire yourself and not have to deal with her? Lennox has been vocal about her feelings about Agler since then.

From this article, coach JB might see something she could get out of Lennox.

<snip>..."I believe Betty is misunderstood," said Storm assistant Jenny Boucek, who worked with Lennox when both were with the now-defunct Miami Sol. "She's got a heart of gold. She's one of my favorite players I've coached."...<snip>

But given the animosity Lennox displayed at this franchise in 2005 (including the brilliantly wonderful "I think this interview is over" moment between her and our broadcast crew? I see p o w d e r k e g, in an otherwise harmonious lockerroom. I mean geewhiz, she was carping about the number of shots she got (or might no longer get in Seattle) when Donovan said Bird needed to shoot more last year.

Betty???

I thought we had an overload at the guard position.

Who goes if Betty Comes in?

I am not vibing Betty in a Monarchs Uniform. But then Betty Lennox knows whats Best for Betty. Ask Betty... Betty will tell you. However I can just Imagine how happy Koz and Krista will be to have her here.

We are going to involuntarily lose a player and I think we had consensus that it would be a wing/swing player. So conceivably we will have at least one roster spot to play with. Still shouldn't be filled by Lennox, no matter how enticing the numbers might be..

Almost forgot about the Expansion Draft...

I agree with you on that MBF.

However I think that who we lose depends on how the CBA Plays out. If The Expansion rule stay the same, we should be able to protect the wings who producted for us. If not the conversation gets interesting.

But it is a moot point until the CBA is done.

I think regardless of what happens with the expansion rules with the new CBA, we're going to lose a guard or a swing(read: Smith or Atkinson) - numbers dictate we have more of those playing that position to lose - and we happen to have more of them to lose under attractive cap hits relative to experience for an expansion team. The changes to the expansion rules and/or free agency and/or coring may mean the difference between whether or not we lose more than one player this offseason one way or another. And, I also think Whiz intends to keep whomever is drafted in the first round in this draft, unless he trades that pick for another body.

If we open camp with Haynie/Atkinson/Smith/Robinson all on our roster, I will be completely and utterly shocked. There's an outside chance that we lose Williams to expansion, but I think her leaving to expansion would surprise me more than all of those four being on the roster. And, that would completely and utterly shock me in and of itself.

Of the 4 players you mentioned, the one I absolutely...definitely...want to see on our roster is Robinson. I do not care which (or if all) of the other 3 are gone as long as we have Robinson.

hmmm....

We kinda shifted the thread a little.

But since it came up, I think 6th gets The Big Fat Ditto for the day.

In the list of prioritites for this group I think Sholanda is at the Top no doubt. And if the CBA holds then coring her and Haynie should be easy. Yeah yeah...I am holding out hope for Haynie. I know most want to ship her out, but I think she has been useful. She has under achieved this past season, but I have a soft spot for her.

I know 6th is not very fond of Tangie. And lord knows I was ready to ship her butt out the first two weeks of the season myself. But I thinks she has tools to be worked with. She is definately an athlete and I doubt we will lose her to expansion. Which Leaves Kim Smith. Personally I think that was a wasted Draft pick. I am sure she can ball, and I think she will make someone a capable utility player. Just not us. As far as I am concerned The Kim Smith experiment is over. Package her with the Meg Bulger Blunder Pick and Get a 2nd round pick for 09.

I don't believe we will lose A-Dub to expansion, and if we do... not to concerned. I know we are short in the post right now, but I think there are a lot of options for that 3rd and 4th post player in the rotation :cough: Barb Farris :Cough:

Anyone have any off-season activity for Tangie, A-Dub or Sholanda?
