"We're not respected"??????

For what? Losing? Not having three of our starters in uniform? Finding new and unique ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

This whole idea that a team should somehow be "respected" just floors me. You respect good play, you respect a winning record, you respect effort. You respect players who have earned it by consistently putting it all out there on the court game in and game out. I love our team and I bleed purple, but right now this current group of players hasn't done a lot to garner respect throughout the league.

Being afraid of losing to the Bulls is, at this point, like being afraid of your own shadow. We've lost to worse teams than the Bulls.

Right. I mean, what's so bad about losing to the Bulls? We've lost to everyone else the past two years...
Exactly...hell, I dont even think the Clippers respect us, and we've won more than they have in our history(but they have Caveman, who eats us alive!) As long as we have a StayPuff post presence, we'll never get any respect...everything starts with that, in my estimation.

i mean u may ask me why im so emotional about this game, and that theres nothing wrong with losing to the bulls, but for me its a big deal, kings have beaten them like 9/10 this decade, what im trying to say is that here in chicago, i take alot of heat for being a true kings fan, people dogg this team, this year they have made fun of me, what i mean by being respected, is that the kings are overcomers for all the injuries they had this season, yet they get no credit, no " u know what the kings r showing sum heart" exept for the steve nash comments, but overall we get " kings r dreadful, kings r going no where" u know they my be true but they have no right to say that without a fair assestment of the team.

Well...a bit of advice...I dont know how long you've been riding with the Kings, but as a fan of 23 LOOOONG seasons...you learn to take everything with a grain of salt. We didnt have a .500 record the first 14 years the team was here in Sacramento, so this is nothing. Do you remember the Ben Gillery years? Ralph Sampson? Dick Motta?...and TOO many more than that! Those guys were a part of some MUCH tougher years that what we're experiencing right now.

edit: once again, THIS is nothing compared to the past.

You won't win talking smack with a Bulls fan. You're living in the city of Michael Jordan. You've chosen to root for the Sacramento Kings. You're NEVER going to see the kind of respect for your team that you yearn for. Consider yourself lucky. You could be a Kings fan stuck in LA. THEY really have it tough.

sactownkings1023, basketball is just a game relax. Plus, the bulls aren't the cat's meow this year either. You can always find someway to talk smack with any team.

Dude, get over it. There are worse things in the world then having to take some ribbing from some stuck-up Bulls fans.

Trust me. I live in Southern California. Try wearing a Chris Webber jersey in the summer of 2003 in LA.

That was the longest run on sentence ever ;)

Right now we have 3 starters injured which does nothing but bad things for our bench.

Miller, Moore, Artest, Martin, and Bibby starting with Beno, Garcia, Salmons, Hawes off the bench is a .500 team.

My friend, a word of advice. You are who you are, whether the Kings win or not. Don't live your life through any sports team. Its just a game. Nothing more, nothing less. If your team loses, it doesn't make you less of a person. Apart from that, why do you care what the people there think? Do you honestly think their going to praise your team and berat thiers? If your team isn't going well, then you just have to bite the bullet. At least we haven't fired out coach. At least we can say were overacheiving. At least you can say that the Bull's are underacheiving. I think you get my drift.

I don't get it. Sactown expresses his concerns about the Kings and everyone piles on him, including a board op? And I thought this was the different forum - the "positive" board. Give the dude some slack.

Whatever, dude. It was a lame post, and he had it coming.

EDIT - And, by the way, get your nomenclatures correct: nobody "dogpiled" on sactownkings1023. We dogpiled on his scatterbrained post. Personal attacks are not permitted here, but nobody attacked him personally, and people's posts has always been fair game.

I believe the kings were 43-39 their first year and made the play offs and lost to Huston in 3. I could be wrong. I've been wrong this century already. :D

Hmm... maybe you're getting crap now because you gave it out earlier. Why does the team you root for make you feel superior? You didn't play.

I've never understood that kind of thinking.

I have understood that we get in return what we give out. So, maybe it's payback for you now.

Nor do I, creAtivetfh... The OP is a Kings fan living in Chicago, though, so maybe that's the point. He says he wants respect from the Bulls fans for his Kings... I think he's going to be sorely disappointed. The city of Michael Jordan isn't gonna be bending over backwards to "respect" the Sacramento Kings for losing or winning or doing anything for that matter. And I don't expect them to. The idea that "respect" somehow is deserved at the drop of a hat befuddles me. And the idea that someone is that concerned about how other people currently perceive the Kings just seems a little strange.

Oh well...

GO KINGS!!!
