I was really pleased with the team of Miller/Moore in last night's Sixers' game.
Mikki had matched his career high of 24 pts with a lot of assists from Brad, who loves to make great passes. Brad made it clear in one of the TV interviews that one of the big reasons why he works so well with Mikki is that Mikki loves to dunk--and what nice, emphatic dunks they are--and Brad loves to pass the ball. I agree with Brad's point there.
Those two bigs dominated the game and it is logical to conclude that they can dominate/compete with other teams as well with the kind of play that they did last night. It was wonderful to watch this kind of energenic team play between the two. Hawes is a good rotation and I hope that he can absorb the valuable passing/team skills that are so finely being demonstrated with the Miller/Moore team.
Me likey it! Me likey it! The Miller/Moore team is a fun pair to watch.
I hope that Justin Williams is observing/learning those finer points of team play and trying to incorporate them into his practice play. And KT, ugh, just trade the guy--we can only hope that a team would suddenly need a rebounding vet like Thomas, so that a trade can become possible prior to Feb. Yes, the hate-KT theme is old already, but what else can one say?
Anybody still on the "Mikki is a terrible signing" bandwagon? The wheels are coming off, yes?
And it's good to see that Theus' personality is strong enough to counter Artest's tendency to put on the Superman cape and "carry" the team, when he really does not need to do so. Theus ought to yank Artest off the floor as soon as Artest starts to counter the designed plays with his own Superman plays. If Artest can adjust his play/ego to include a lot more assists and team play, then there's three bigs--Miller/Moore/Artest--who could play well together. Theus made the point that Artest is an impact player on both ends of the court and that there's only 4 or 5 guys in the entire NBA who can do that, so that goes to show Artest's value to the team. Trading Artest away is not a good idea, I would think.
And Theus made a point that he felt that this year's team was a playoff-caliber team--I agree totally. With a smooth return of Bibby rotating effectively with Beno, with an effective return of Martin rotating with Salmons and a smooth, assist-heavy teamwork of the bigs and their rotations, I think that this team is not only a playoff-caliber team, but a conference championship-challenging one as well. It would be really great if Jones can effectively rotate well with Martin/Salmons--time will tell as Jones starts to integrate with this team, as it takes time to blend in with any new team. I already like Jone's defensive abilities.
With a deeper team that has a good number of guys with specific individual skills, as well as excellent team skills, Theus would have a deep repertoire from which he can implement in specific matchups in playoff games.
In any case, this team is a good one with good energy on it and fun to watch!
