Check out the WNBA photo contest. Our own Rocky Widener is featured in this weeks poll.

There are 10 pics from various photographers, pick your favorite one from each photographer. Not sure who picked the 10, but I know I've seen better pics he's taken before. There are some really good ones, and there are some weird ones. And it's nice to see what other photographers catch as well.

Hmmmm....hard to decide which of Rocky's pictures to vote for. Want to pick the one that I think has the best chance of success in coming rounds. :cool:

He seems to like pictures of people with their eyes popping out of their heads. Is the lady in the red head band a new draft pick? She better be quick. ;)

This IS a tough choice....man. I'm leaning towards the Brunson one too, Ticha's is tempting because its a great capture of emotion (if that wasn't from Camp Day where that one ref had it in for her I'd be surprised :)) any thing with Kara bouncing is good but her bouncing in response to something a teammate does is even better - I think it makes her more bouncey so the one with her and Newton may ultimately get my vote.

Maybe I'll find a way to vote more than once...;)

I definitely think I've seen more poignant shots he took of our fallen forward -I think he took the one where Yo talks to her as she's wheeled into the tunnel, that one tugged my heartstrings. I'm still going with one of the 3 above, but I agree - any shot with her on the floor...epitome of the season, hands down. :(

Tough for me to decide. So many emotions on nearly every one of these pictures!

No offense, but I'm kinda wondering why the one titled "Not the Weakest Lynx" with Seimone Augustus is doing there. Although I think it's neat that the photo has her tongue sticking out! :D

I could understand the appeal of the K-Law jumper. :)

And the DeMya one...well, that's a true bittersweet heartbreaker! :(

But for me, it's a toss-up between three photos:

1. Coach Boucek and her muscular arms!
2. "Pleading Penicheiro"
3. K-Law and Chelsea Newton (which looks right after we won a game!)

Rocky's a great guy. Very modest, but so very talented!

Before I knew he was the official photog for the Monarchs & Kings, I had his god-daughter in my 4th grade class. She'd never been to see him at work, because she really didn't have an interest in basketball.

Well, I knew that had to change. I took her and some other students to their very first WNBA game. Boy, you should have seen Rocky's smile when he saw his little girl there! :D

p.s. I agree - I've seen some simply awesome shots he's taken, so I don't know how these got chosen. Still, t'was a tough choice... :cool:

The Brunson pick on Lindsay Whalen? I'm sorry, one - she needs to identify where B is on the floor at any given moment because this is NOT the first pick that Brunson has set on her that nearly took her head off, and two-somebody needs to call screen for her, goodness....
