So far, it looks like both coaches are trying to win this game, despite the fact that it doesn't really matter to either team... nice to see us on the other end of a second quarter rally for a change, though...

I'm watching the Mercury feed on webcast, so they haven't mentioned it, but unless I'm mistaken, Yo Griffith just went over four thousand points for her WNBA career.

As such, the thread title has been changed accordingly.

Not only has she become only the sixth member of the four thousand point club, but she's also joined Lisa Leslie as only the second member of the four thousand point/two thousand rebound club.

Damn shame for such a milestone to happen on the road.

It is a TREMENDOUS leap of faith to believe that the Monarchs team we've seen for 34.5 games can allllllllllllllllllllllllll of a sudden get their **** together "resting" today (whatever the hell that means for a team that plays 9-10 deep on the bench) and not playing a game in what 4 days? and then come out and do something right in the playoffs? I'd rather have them execute the damn adjustments the coaching staff made to clean up the freaking debacle they perpetrated on Friday than have this team go into the break between now and game 1 hoping they can execute something drawn up.

Rest freaking tomorrow. We've had players injured in practice this year and in previous post seasons. Should we not practice too and just welcome San Antonio on Thursday and hope for the best?

This game doesn't mean anything for the standings, but it means something in their preparation for the playoffs. I'm sure Phoenix could give a crap about making a statement, they have a leg up on us (or three to be exact). Its about doing things to get ready for the post season and playing with some sort of rhythm.

Congratulations YoGriff

What a player she's been in this league and in the ABL AND for team USA.

Absolutely, there was no other way that milestone should have been reached Captain-to-Captain.

I sense it we're going to let her know we appreciate her work when she steps back on the floor at ARCO on Thursday. It will almost feel like it happened here at home.

Only thing I can add is i am glad the playoffs are here. I am going to try my best to put this in my rearview mirror. I hate to sound like a player but everybody is 0-0 now, and we have some serious intangiles we can draw from: DEPTH, PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE, VETERAN LEADERSHIP, DEFENSIVE INTENSITY. We may not have much rhythm going into the postseason, so lets hope the intangibles mean something. Last season we went into the post season with a lost to Phoenix, and the team responded pretty well. let's hope that is the case this season.

BRING ON SAN ANTONIO, GO MONARCHS!!!!!!:D

The past two games have been incredibly difficult to watch, but I am glad that the Playoffs are finally here and I belive our Veteran leadership will help us tremendously. Congratualtions to Yo on that amazing accomplishment!! It's time for the Monarchs to step up and play at the high level that we all know they can play at!!! Let's go Monarchs!!:D

Congratulations to Yolanda Griffith! Looks like they'd better make room in the Arco rafters for another Monarchs jersey here in the near future!

That's for darned sure. When I hear she retires, I better hear, in the next breath, that she will be so honored.

I hate to sound pessimistic, so I wont...just fill in the blanks and you'll have the thoughts running through my head post game and pretty much all season.

About the only thing I can say is that this team pulled something out of their um...hats last year and became a COMPLETELY different team than the one we'd been frustrated by during that regular season. I remember Whiz being interviewed heading into the post season last year and him saying he honestly didn't know what to expect from his team. I'm certainly in that boat right now. I have no expectations from this team right now, I guess I'm going to just be surprised by how they come out and play in the second season while I wait for the post season to start just like I was surprised last year.

Re: Yo? I'll say this about both her. She is headed to Springfield and Knoxville pretty soon, that's a stone cold lock. Her co-captain could also put the exclamation mark on punching her ticket to lockness if she pushes her point and assist totals over 2 grand and overtakes Swoopes as the league's all time steals leader. MS&E will certainly honor them both by retiring their numbers once they are done or they'll look pretty silly sitting in the audience at their respective HOF induction ceremonies. I mean seriously, we have 3 player who were considered for the greatest players in this league's first decade. Think about that for a moment. Other than the big 3 in Houston, who else can say that? I'm not sure I fully have comprehended how special Ruthie, Ticha and Yo have been as players and probably won't until they are not playing anymore. The ARCO banners with their jersey numbers are probably in storage right now. Its just a matter of when they decide they are done playing.

But until then, I'm ready to celebrate it with her on Thursday :) ...and to get a damn win damnit...

I'm gonna forget about the 2 last games our Monarchs played & get ready for the real show on Thursday.
Today I'm so proud of Yolanda Griffith, she is one of the best players this league has seen. I sit courtside to watch this player & I have seen every game she's played at Arco. When she retires, I will take so many fond memories with me. I just hope she has a job in the WNBA & better yet with the Monarchs. Watching her today, she looked like the perfect assistant coach! The way the players respect her is a joy to see. I hope Yo can get the troops ready for the playoffs...I don't want this ride to end.

CONGRATS ''YO GRIFFITH''
Just one of your favorite fans!!!

Congratulations, Yo. What a player, what a leader!

Other than that, I'm feeling pretty pessimistic about the off-season. Of course, I tend to be pessimistic all the time, so ignore me. ;)

However, I just have not really felt the same kind of chemistry on the team this year. Or maybe they had some to start, but as things got tougher, it disappered. I'm not sure. DeMya out, Bekkah playing with stress fractures, Yo declining/hurt...it has been a tough year. It'd be nice to beat out SA, but I cannot imagine us beating the Mercury.

I really don't want Phoenix out of the West, because I cannot stand Taurasi (which menas nothing;) ). Not since the first time I saw her play at Arco. She b**ched and whined and cried to the refs on every single foul call against her or a teammate. Is she a great player? Of course she is and I really can appreciate her play. To me, tho, that's all the more reason she does not need to resort to whining.

NBH, I know that, like me, you are one of Yo's most ardent fans. After tonight's game was over, I began to reminisce a bit. I thought about her ABL career...about how I thought she should have been chosen for MVP over Natalie Williams. I remembered the day she was picked up by the Monarchs. That may have been one of my fondest memories as a fan of the game of basketball. I remembered getting off work early so I could head down to Old Sac where we got to meet that years players. Honestly, I was the 1st fan down there. I think it was about 3:20 and they were scheduled to arrive about 5:00. Anyway, I found out where Yo would be greeting fans and I began the line to greet her. I told her that she was my favorite player, and that she may have lost out on the MVP voting to Natalie, but that she would be the WNBA MVP in no time. Well, she rewarded that confidence in her by winning MVP her very first year in the WNBA, as you know.

I could go on and on about the many fond memories I have of one of the best players/greatest warriors to ever grace women's basketball. But, I'll save them for another time. ;)

6th I too remember the day we drafted Yo...
The day she collected all the Wnba hardwear in 99.
I only wish I could have seen more of her ABL games.
I watched the Lasers alot & maybe I saw Yo play...?
I really fell for her game when she became a Monarch.
Just the game face...before, during & after...she sometimes breaks into a smile when the Monarchs win. She is just the true professional, a class act that will go down in the Hall of Fame one day. I will be proud when Sacramento hangs her jersey high above the rafters with another great Monarch'' Ruthie Bolton.'' So much history that have entertained fans across the globe.
