Reggie sounds like a nice guy. He sounds like he's a persuasive guy. But several times he noted how he's going to have to rely on Petrie. He also has said he really needs a very experienced assistant coach sitting next to him. He's honest. But it also shows he has a LOT learn. He admits it. And it also shows that right now he's not ready for the buck stopping with him. If he gets a media/public pass for the next 2 years, he has a shot, just a shot at being a legit coach in the NBA.
Very good first impression from Reggie IMO, his attitude is a little arrogant but he seems more confident then anything and thats what we need as a coach. He seems to know what hes talking about, hopefully now we can get a veteran staff built around him to teach him the ways and he becomes a great coach for us. Coachie would be a good start since Coachie knows the Princeton offence and Reggie said thats what he ran at NMS. Coachie would be the perfect mentor for a brand new head coach with no experience.
Not sure about that last bit: Coachie has never coached in the NBA either. He was of course a true addition to Rick's veteran staffs. But for a new guy, not sure if that's the kind of experience/authority he needs there. Needs somebody wiht a long NBA history of doing what Reggie has not. Not that Coachie would be a bad additional coach (fact is though he's really quite old and settling into semi-regional retirement) but I don't think he's the veteran coach that can really cover a rookie's, well, rookieness.

Robert William Weiss (born May 7, 1942 in Easton, Pennsylvania) is an American former professional basketball player and head coach in the NBA.
He was most recently the head coach of the Seattle SuperSonics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was named to the position on July 18, 2005, after 26 seasons as a coach in the league. After a 13-17 start to the 2005-06 season, his three-year deal was terminated on January 3, 2006.
Weiss played college basketball at Penn State University from 1963 to 1965 and averaged 16.3 points per game during his senior season.
The NBA's Philadelphia 76ers selected Weiss in the 1965 NBA Draft. He played in the NBA for twelve seasons and was a member of the 76ers' 1967 championship team.
Upon his retirement as a player in 1977, Weiss joined the Buffalo Braves as an assistant coach. In 1980, he moved to the Dallas Mavericks, an expansion franchise.
After six years in Dallas, Weiss accepted his first head coaching job in 1986 with the San Antonio Spurs. He coached the Spurs for two seasons and led the team to the postseason in 1988.
After one year as an assistant with the Orlando Magic, Weiss moved to the Atlanta Hawks as head coach. In three seasons, his Hawks teams posted a record of 124-122 and made the playoffs twice.
Weiss left the Hawks in 1993. He spent one year as head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers before joining the Sonics as an assistant coach. He served in that position until 2005, when the Sonics elevated him to head coach upon the departure of Nate McMillan. Unfortunately, Weiss did not last even one season, as the Sonics struggled to a losing record. He was fired midway through the year and replaced with Bob Hill.
Weiss is the only person to be affiliated with the Clippers' franchise in all three cities of the organization's history. He was a player with the Buffalo Braves, an assistant coach with the San Diego Clippers, and a head coach with the Los Angeles Clippers. Weiss's all-time regular season coaching record is 210-282 (42.7%).

Coachie was always good with the young players though and they look up to him, since were rebuilding were gonna have to teach players a whole new scheme of things and Coachie would add some old Kings flavor into that, I think it would be cool too have him back and a solid choice.
But yah I geuss it would be nice to have a previous head coach with lots of coaching experience aswell.

I think some potential great picks for assistant would be Weiss, Kevin Loughery (his former coach in Chicago), Bob Hill, Tarkenian (he was a former NBA head coach, albeit a very short spell, and would be a very unbiased voice for Theus to tell it like it is), and Chris Ford.

Reggie Theus dislikes (the polite word) Kevin Loughery because of bad blood between the two dating back to their Chicago Bulls days when he was inexplicably benched. He also is not fond of Mike Fratello from his days when he coached Theus in Atlanta. Those are the only two head coaches as I recall (something like 16 in his career) that he was negative on. He once told me he found Bill Russell to be seemingly disinterested as head coach in Sacramento and during practices the legendary Hall of Famer often just stood around as the majority of the sessions were run by the assistants.
