Orlando loses SVG

I think Riley requiring eastern conf. teams to come up with a pick for his services tells you what type of coach he thinks he is. Pretty good endorsement if you ask me.

Yeah... if a Pacific team had tried to get Muss away from us, we would probably have given them a draft pick to take him.

Yeah he couldn't control them all the way to a 59-23 record and going 7 games agasint Detroit in the ECF with a team that started with 11 new players than the year before. I hope he can't control Artest and the Kings to 59 wins and a game 7 in the WCF.
First of all... That team won the championship the next year... We on the other hand weren't even close to sniffing the playoffs with the EXACT same team we have currently. Second of all... After they lost, there was alot of hooplah about him not winning it, and it caused alot of unrest in the locker room including Shaq opening his mouth.

It's a ridiculous comparison. He lost control once his team lost, which for this team will come to fruition about 3 weeks into the season.

Certian irony to all this with SVG apparently in Sacto. Started off that the Magic took a huge PR bath when Donovan backed out on them, and of course it will be bigger if they miss out on SVG too.

But now with Stan in Sacto its perfectly obvious he is our #1 choice too. So now he pretty much has to sign with us or its our turn to have egg on our face, and then have to go turn sheepishly to somebody else who will clearly know he was only the #2 choice.

Dude... The Pistons were ready to dump Flip this year just the same. "What have you done for me lately" is hard to go by... What are our best choices?

If you could have any coach, who would it be? (Living)

Crap... Orlando just officialy voided the Billy Donovan contract. Lets just hope that SVG has decided on Sac town no matter what!

I guess we'll see what kind of closers the Maloofs and Petrie are. You have him in town don't let him go without his sig on the dotted line. Hell, I guess that doesn't matter these days. haha...see the Magic...!

Not to mention that it was SVG's first head coaching job. While it is one thing for a guy like Muss to rub all of his players the wrong way and have poor personality management skills in general, pushing the wrong buttons with a big ego like Shaq seems more of a rookie mistake, especially in light of the good relationships it seems like he had with his other players.
I'd listen to what Haslem or Dwayne Wade had to say about SVG before I'd listen to Shaq about coaches. Most talented big guys hate it when a coach rides them while most talented point guards understand it.

It was SVG's first head coaching job in college but he was a .650 coach in college at different levels, D2 and the Big Ten. (I don't care what level you're at -- you are a solid coach if you win 65% of your games unless you're NAIA or low-level high school).

SVG does yell in practice but it's never personal and it's meant to inspire a "higher level" of play. I found SVG to be refreshingly honest, both in practice and with the media. He doesn't play mind games with players (like so many college coaches and some NBA'ers do). SMART players will appreciate it.

I don't think it'll be egg on our face, since he didn't already sign and many have indicated his desire to stay in Orlando. That being said, I'm sure the Maloofs are pulling out all the stops on this one as he is the best prospect both short term and long term.

How about the year before ShaQ arrived. SVG got the job as head coach just days before the season started. It was his first NBA head coaching job. He a rookie Wade whom needed to be molded quickly. He started 0-7 then turned things aroung and made the playoffs. About the losing. You give me any team I MEAN ANY TEAM on any level of any sport that don't have ill feelings about everything when they are 1 win away from being in the championship and they don't make it. Same with Flip his year. '

Anyway all this aside who do YOU suggest be our coach. Are the in the Reggie Theus or Terry Porter camp. Or did you want Musselman back for 1 more year.

When you lose out on your #1 and have to go to an obvious #2, there's always egg. Not Orlando egg, no. But its awkward. "Well Kurt, sorry about all that. You want the job? We liked you too..." Followed by the news conference where its "we would like to announce as the new coach of the Sacramento Kings, the guy who we wanted almost as much as the other guy...we're back on track baby!"

As for SVG, I think we can let him leave town....but the wife has to stay. In the basement. Tied to a chair. Just for security. He can have her back if he returns to town. (best perhaps to check on the ole marital status before mebarking on this strategy though ;) ).

As of 7:15pm pacific time today Donovan is realeased from his contract and I read on a magic board that SVG gave them a two hour window to get it done and I guess they got it done within the two hours so SVG could be headed back to Orlando to be there new coach.

That window was yesterday though. And before Riley stepped up. Donavan was gone no matter what. It was just a matter of what cost to his future. So its no big deal he is officially gone now. Donavan was never holding up SVG everybody knew since Sunday Donavan would never coach the magic in 1 game.

Good point, although I dare you to name the last time Shaq ate a carrot. Maybe a carrot cake, maybe...
an artificially flavoured one.. :p

WOOOHOOO!!!! if anyone knows where stan is staying, we need like a huge cheer squad... screaming "STAN IS THE MAN!"

if only i lived in sactown, cuz i wouldve started it!

he'll want the job for sure... HAHAHA!
