Orlando loses SVG

Geoff Petrie: Joe, Gavin I really want SVG as our head coach. I think he'll be perfect for our team, real professional, knowledgable, and has great NBA experience.

Maloofs: We don't want him, not enough WNBA experience.
Hahaha! :D

That was genuinely funny :D

I woke up to the news that we haven't lost out on SVG which is great. Not lets get it done!

I will feel easier when I see an official announcement that SVG is the new coach of the Sacramento Kings!

Shh...nobody tell Stan that the Magic are a team on the rise with way better young players.

Yeah I know.

Might be another factor involvd that nobody's mentioned though -- $$$.

Ron..er...I mean Stan, has managed to get himself into a very nice position for a prospective coach -- potentially having two franchises trying to outbid each other for your services. I am certainly not counting our chickens here, and still would not be shocked if its Orlando. But if it is us, wonder if the Maloofs siply made him the better offer? Orlando was willing to dish out megabucks for the PR move with Donaovan, but maybe they are not willing to out-deeppocket a couple of rich casino owners with a competitive streak.

If this all happens, and we get the good announcement soon about SVG coming here, we should have a SVG look-alike night at Arco. There would be ALOT of guys that would be confused for being Ron Jeremy.:D
Let's add some spice -- everybody come "dressed" as Ron Jeremy. ;)

Just hope that one is not televised.

Could be a sign of maybe becoming competitive again? A freeing of the pursestrings, perhaps?

I also think Petrie might be a draw for a coach, you know you're getting one of the better GMs in the league who also is not going to stab you in the back halfway through the season with his own delusions of grandeur.

Could be that or....

it could be that Sactown Rocks! Yeah, that's right - we Rock! We have the best fans in the NBA. We have a great GM and we have great owners. Who the h*** would not want to coach here (alright, maybe Phil J.)

No - we do not have Mickey Mouse. But we do have Tahoe, wine country and the coast for the more sophisticated vacationer.

But more than that (and I may have already mentioned this) -
Sactown Rocks!

he said this for sure????
The following was DEFINITELY confirmed:

1.) SVG is in Sacramento as we speak.
2.) The Heat asked for compensation from ORLANDO.
3.) He is meeting again with the Maloof's and Petrie, but it seems that his wife is with him, which would be unnecessary if it was anything but.
4.) Scott Pollard will be on at 4.30pm.

SVG is NOT worth a draft pick...

so confused right now.

maybe we'll get SVG for the first half of the season and orlando will get him for the second half. then rambis finishes it off. all while we interview porter. for the year after that. until donovan is allowed to coach in the nba. at which point sign him. till he backs out. and signs with orlando. and we get reggie theus.

Ya Grant was saying the appeal of Petire being one of the best GM's in the league alot better than Orlando's GM in Otis Smith, and the Maloofs being one of the best ownership groups, and with having the best fans in the NBA and with Orlando not even selling out every game and there fans being ya know so-so all work in Sacramento's favor and are all appealing to a head coach.

Clarification: Riley only wanted compensation (in the form of a draft pick), if SVG was to sign with a coach in the Eastern Conference. Since we are in the West, that caveat should not apply to us.

Obviously, since Orlando is in the East and therefore would have to deal with Riley, they are at a huge disadvantage.

That works...but just to be funny, I might still send Riles that 2030 2nd rnd pick.:D

I assume SVG is deep into negotiations on a contract to become head coach of the Kings at this moment. Right now it's 5pm in Sac and 8pm back at his home in Miami. I expect he (and apparently his wife) will be staying in town tonight perhaps having dinner with Petrie and/or the Maloof's. A red-eye flight back to Florida would seem not in the cards at this late hour so seeing all smiles at a Kings news conference on Thursday is what I expect to see - hope!
