From the M's website:

In a nutshell, DeMya has a torn patella tendon in her right knee and will be out for the rest of the season. Shortly thereafter, the M's waived Brittany Wilkins and signed Linda Frohlich to a contract. Linda played for the Indy Fever last season.

I liked Brittany, and wish her the best of luck. As for Linda, welcome to the team!

This is a Crappy situation all around Steven.

The Brittany Waive had to be done. I think we all liked her. It really is too bad. Nobody wanted this...

Ditto to the Welcome for Linda...

And The Monarchs Website also has a e-mail link to send well wishes to DeMya. So lets fill that bad boy up with love from Crew.

REAL ****** UP... I don't even know what else to say. But, I hope DeMya takes her time with the recovery, since she's out all season anyway. I'm gonna reeeeally miss Britt... that was Kim's closest buddy, too....

Torn patella and sprained MCL in the same knee. Was at the game and you knew she was badly hurt. :( Sent my get well wishes to the e-mail address. This sucks....for DeMya and us.:(

Looked at pictures of Frohlich. She looks pretty big and I don't mean just height. Can't imagine she's too easy to push around.

Welcome to Sacramento Linda. Play hard and we'll love you.

I saw a little bit of Frohlich when she was a senior @ UNLV and they came and played a tournament at Cal. As a collegian, I would compare her a little bit to the type of player Nicole Powell is...scorer, a decent shooter from the perimeter, rebounder and someone who can find others with the ball. She had a great tournament that weekend, definitely someone who grabbed your attention because she was scoring at will.

Don't remember her standing out all that much when she was in the W.

Reading Whiz' comments in the press release, he talks about her giving the Ms a different look in the post. We need another perimeter threat for sure - we've had a steady diet of zone defenses for a while. We need a someone who can sit in the high post and pass the ball. Rebounding will help too. It'll be interesting to see how this works out.

Who is Linda Frohlich?

Anybody knows what she is all about???

I don't know that much about her, except that she is from Germany and played at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and graduated there in '02. I think it's odd how a European player would go all the way to a college in Sin City to play basketball! I didn't know UNLV's women's b-ball program had any kind of reputation to attract a player overseas! But what do I know?

Anyway, she played in the WNBA for the Indiana Fever in 2006, and for the N.Y. Liberty in 2002-03.

Here's her WNBA profile:

Her offseason diary:

She does have a website at:

Hope this helps somewhat! :)

Good research (as usual), StevenHW. Thanks for the info.

This should be interesting, but we'll have to give her some time to settle in with our white line, etc.

I think I saw Brittany on the end line last night, next to Erin Batth keeping statistics. Maybe she isn't on the roster, but is still doing administrative things?

I talked to her last night after the game and asked her if she was going to hang around. She said they are working on something for her, she wants to stay here. So it sure sounds like she will be doing something in some capacity.

MBF:

Thanks for the information. Brittany may not be on the playing roster, but she will still work for the team.

It reminds me of rookie Megan Vogel, who was drafted this year by the Washington Mystics. She wrote a highly entertaining blog of her experiences of being a small-town girl as the new wide-eyed kid on a WNBA team earlier this year.

Here's her preseason blog:

She was later cut from the Mystics' playing roster before the season began, but the team offered her an internship, so she still remains with the organization even if she isn't playing. She still hangs out with the team, accompanying them on road games, and lives in the team's apartment complex.
