The Monarchs did it all and found a way to win.

I don't care what anyone says... if you didn't enjoy this game, you just don't enjoy basketball. Gender is totally irrelevant.

Get well really quick wishes for DeMya but major props to the Monarchs bench for stepping it up when they really had to do it.

I love this game!!!!

Post your thoughts: LAC/SAC 6/2

Wasn't able to watch this one but followed the game through the wnba website (dunno why the webcast didn't work today). It seemed like an exciting game. our backcourt had a great game: Ticha 14/0/3 and made 6/13 shots in 27min was a great effort. Haynie had her moments with 7 assists in just 14 min. Kara had 14/3/3. Sho had 11/2 in 16 minutes and was 5/7 from the field while chelsea had 10/2 and was 4/6 from the field. Anyway, what happened to Dwalk? she only played 5 min. was she injured? Powell was a lifesaver and had to play 33min but 19/8/1/2 was AWESOME. too bad I didn't get her for my PickOne team tonight. All in all great effort and great win and as usual......BEAT L.A.

Yes, Powell was a lifesaver. She had to move from small forward to power forward for much of the game. And, everyone stepped up big in the second half.

DeMya went down with a knee injury with 5 min left in the 1st qtr. Taj McWilliams-Franklin and DeMya got their legs tangled. Taj fell one direction and DeMya fell another twisting her knee as she went down.....or, at least that's what it looked like to me. We got no replay in the Arena. DeMya was down for a very long time and they had to bring in the paramedics with the stretcher to cart her off. Very scary. My first thought was that it was a season ending injury. I am praying that it is not as serious as that. She returned on crutches, to the delight of the team and the crowd, sometime during the second half.

I think what impressed me the most was the Monarchs simply did not give up. The effort of every player on the team was outstanding. I was really impressed with Kara and Ticha's hustle. Add to that the outstanding contributions by the new kids and it was truly an awesome home opener.

My daughter and I had a blast! Thanks for setting it up 6th!

It was a good game. It was really scary to see DeMya go down. My daughter was telling me "at least she's okay, legs heal." I think she was worried it was a lot more serious(like not breathing) than it is. She was under the impression D might have got a concussion to go with that leg injury. I hope D gets better soon.

Second half play was better than first, IMO. Looked like they gelled better, more flow, more smooth. First half some offensive sets were too quick and out of control.

BEAT LA was good to hear. :D

I took some pics with my cell, I'll post them in the Art forum.

My initial thoughts....? %($#(%$#(($(#$( Can we freaking get through a season without having to use the "i" word? I mean seriously, just for damn fun I'd like to see that happen here.

I can honestly say at a sporting event, I have never felt so helplessly sick in my entire sportsfandom...never.

Will get back with more game thoughts, but I wanted to get those out now.

Get better soon DeMya...(I say nowhere near as naively as that sounds..sigh). Geezus.

And can we give props to Coach Cooper for being so supportive when DeMya went down? That was classy.
It was classy and the crowd gave some applause. And on the first page of the Bee today you see that it is Taj on her knees next to Demya, trying to comfort her.

But #%&*%#! It was awful to see and awful to watch Demya out there on the floor in pain waiting forever (seemed like it) for the paramedics.

I love this team, tho. They are tough and wouldn't know how to quit. It was an exciting come back and the crowd loved it. :)

Powell???...

Uhh Yeah she did what she was suppose to do, and that is play big in big situations...

I think the player of the Night was Sholanda Robinson, She really got the ball rolling in the 2nd half. But No love for Mrs. Hoston-Dorrell-Robinson.

Be back for more later...

No Robinson Jersey's Okay Steven???

Isn't there a thread for game comments already? Can this be joined to that?

Secondly, I also don't think Taj tried to foul DeMya either especially to prevent an and-1. That would have been presumptuous on Taj's part that DeMya could have caught the ball. Two, that would have been one helluva continuation where that collision occured. Granted, I've tried to block that play out of my mind...forever...unsuccessfully, neither player had possession of the bal - DeMya never caught it, Taj was trying to tip it out of bounds. Watching the television replay when I got home, DeMya was going down almost before Taj even touched her.

Thanks for the blog. seat mate;) I too got a chance to see the replays of DeMaya's injury. It almost looked as if her leg was giving out when she landed & then Taj stepped on her foot then they both fell to the floor. DeMaya was crying & in pain, she didn't want anyone touching the knee.
So my regards to D.W for a good rehab & a return to the court soon as possible.

As for Spencer she was playing like a vet. I told some fans of the Sparks that she's like a young Powelle, laughing saying that Nicole's not that old. True but the rookie's putting on a scoring show. I thought ,cool Coach Coop left her on the bench for a long time...when she returned the White Line Defense was in full effect. They came out & played team ball...everyone that played, scored.
Huge game from ShoTime...& can Ticha get a shout out, sreaking to the hoop laying it up. A nice job by the coaches they made the adjustments & let the starters & bench players to close out the Sparks. A very exciting well played game.

A must win & we sit on top with pack...next up SilverStars...Monarchs at home, once again ...confident

Confident, yes. But also should be a bit cautious. The Silver Stars are pushovers no more. They're much improved over recent past seasons. Marie Ferdinand-Harris back from maternity...and an emotional homecoming of The Erin! :)

Since we had a hard time beating them the last few years, I'm not sure they were ever considered "pushovers" here...But we should be confident that as the 2x conference champion - we should be able to defend our home floor. So confidence is in order. Rally on Monarchs...We're Ready to Bring All You Need Tuesday Night.
