(Non Monarchs) Vicky Baugh Story

#33
Sorry, I must beg out of this game (Jan 16th). I have been sick with a cold for 5 days now and I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. Ugh!!! :( I plan on going next week (Jan 23rd) if you all want to go again.
6th, I think 5 days is plenty long enough. Stop it. :)

Just wanted to update...

Tuesday's game will pit the Metro League's two unbeatens (in league play) Grant High and Sacramento High. Grant High is an undefeated 16-0 coming into the game. Should be a cage rattler for sure!!

As far as how Baugh did in the game we missed?...she was same-o same-o, yawn...

29pts, 13rebs, 7blks, 2stls, 3asst.

pretty pedestrian night I'd say...;)

They beat the stuffing out of Rosemont a few nights later to the tune of 92-21, the game stats/box score for some reason aren't available (probably because they BURNED UP they were so hot...lol :D ), so she might have filled the stat sheet that night.

We had a very fine time at the game....MBF, 6th, & MamaBristow.I'm not sure on the final stats for VB...something like 7 blocks, 25 rebounds & 18 points. She has game & at 6'4 not a easy player to cover. She missed alot of easy shots & her teammates didn't take advantage of the mis-matches. Most of her points came on lay-ups.One aspect of her game that I liked is her quickness & ablity to go coast to coast. A very good passer as well.We saw Kara Lawson & friend. Ruthie was also in the house. Great to see the pros supporting the high school teams.Nice hanging out with you all. Lets do it again soon!

Congratulations Vicki Baugh

WCBA High School All America list has been released and Sacramento High's finest was named an All American and will be playing in one of two high school allstar teams during the Final Four in Cleveland.

When last I heard, they were awaiting the naming of the McDonald's All America team, Baugh had been nominated for that honor - and those finalists will play in the 2nd all star game that weekend.

The rest of the list?

San Joaquin Section Play Starting

Vicki Baugh and her top seeded Sacramento High Dragons will open section play this Tuesday (February 20th) hosting the Inderkum High team @ Sac High at 7pm.

Should they advance, they will play their second round game on Thursday @ home again 7pm tip, hosting the winner of the Livingston/Manteca matchup.

If they win that game, they'll play at 7pm @ Galt High School on Wednesday Feb 28th for the right to play for the section title of division III at ARCO on March 2nd.

I'm interested in seeing them along the way, but I can't do the two games this week, hopefully Sac High will do their part and advance to ARCO ;)

If folks are able to go, could someone post game thoughts?

Last Friday (Feb. 16th), I happened to catch Vicky play on one of Access Sacramento's public access cable channel (ch. 17). I think it was against Grant High School, but I'm not sure. Did any of you guys go to the game in person?

Semi Finals Set...

Vicki Baugh and Sacramento High defeated Manteca High 91-50 to advance to the Division III semi finals next Wednesday...where they will face #4 El Camino High who narrowly avoided an upset at the hands of #5 Placer High.

The other half of the semi finals bracket also remained true to seeding and will feature #2 Del Oro High against #3 St. Mary's.

I'm leaning towards making a trip to Galt to see these games...anybody up for another Baugh related field trip...? Both semi final games will be played at Galt High School.

OF COURSE should they advance to the Section Finals ARCO, we gotta be there for that too right? ;)

What I like most about Vicki is her attitude. Yes, she has tons of skill, but her attitude will take her far.

From the article: Stats, though, hold no importance for Baugh. "If we can win by 60 points and I only have two, that's fine with me," she said.

You saw Ruthie, and if you looked real hard at crowd shots (besides seeing your fellow boardsters ;))you would have also seen Kara Lawson taking in the game.

Ok folks, for those weighing trips hither and yonder (or is that just me?:) ) The game times for the semi final games being played at Galt on Wednesday are 4pm and 5:30, which essentially nixes my ability to go. So, its on to ARCO if they advance for me.

If you haven't read it yet, the Sacramento Bee featured Vicki Baugh in the front page of Sunday's sport section. Check it out, its a great read. Also, a little nugget caught my eye. Pat Summit is planning on making it out to Sacramento/ARCO for the NorCal championships. I guess she figures that Sac High will make it that far. I'll post those dates and times as they become available, 'cause I'm not one to miss coach Summitt when she rolls anywhere drive-able. ;)

I bought this morning's SacBee, and I agree. The article about Vicky is great!

Boy, I can't wait to see what she does at Knoxville. Hopefully, she'll play for the Monarchs someday!

That reminds me...has there ever been a Sacramento-area high school product who later played in the WNBA? Didn't the Monarchs had someone named Viglione?

Danielle Viglione was with the team in the first season. Both Dosty twins got drafted, but never made it out of training camp, IIRC.

Looks like Tennessee and Stanford are getting nice freshmen in next year -- each has at least three from the McDonald's All-American roster!

I'm in. Who else is going? I'll have to take my radio for the Kings game unless it is being shown at ARCO somewhere.

Had a great time at ARCO last night watching the kids play. I may have missed the Kings/Lakers game on TV, but I was proud to support our high school athletics. Besides, I got in for the senior rate. It seems that seniors are much younger to the CIF Sac-Joaquin program. :p

Monty'sBiggestFan, MamaBristow/Little Man, and I watched Vicki and her Sacramento Dragons win the Girls Class III Sectionals and advance to the Regionals.

Stay tuned here for information on more upcoming games.
