Et tu Brute !

On December 15th 1999 Kings beat Grizzlies in Canada 109-106 to improve to 13-6 for the season. It was a really close game in which Kings Bench Mob outscored the starters and the best 2 Grizzlies players were Bibby and SAR. Webber lead Kings with 21/13/4, Vlade had 13/8/6/3bl and Corliss had 10/4. Kings bench scored 58 pts lead by Pedja who had 17/3/2, while Martin and Fanderburke scored 15 each.
"We stole this," Webber said. "No way in the world were we supposed to win. They are a very good young team and I know itis disappointing for them every time but we stole the decision. The reality is, we didn't play well."
"I'm just happy to get the win," Sacramento coach Rick Adelman said. "I feel for Brian (Hill) and his team. We converted atthe other end. We needed two big stops and we got two big stops. On different nights, different guys step up. We needed to getthis win. This was a huge win."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings are 9-11 after yet another abuse from the Warriors. That would put us in the third position of the "upside down" standing in the Western Conference right behind Grizzlieas and Blazers. Considering that we play nex Jaz, Mavs and Suns - we can challenge Blazers for the second position. Remember when we were saying how it is early in the season and there are many games left to play. I don't think that it is a good thing anymore. We have 62 games left to play. God help us! On the bright side - we won't lose another game till Friday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it looks like the “Mike Bibby era” is going to end probably no later than the trading deadline unless some crazy turnaround of things happens which I find highly unlikely. While we don’t know for sure what is happening behind the curtains. We don’t know whether Bibby said that he would opt out. We don’t know who and what was offered for Iverson for sure either. But if we put everything together what we know – it just looks that way. May not be for Iverson but it might be for someone else like Garnett or so. Mike has been a big part of the great team that we had and he is the last one left. It will be hard to part ways but we have enough time (or not) to prepare if that is possible. NBA is business and things happen quickly. I just hope that when all is said and done – that we don’t have to add getting a new PG to the long list of what we need to be good.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
And Ron Artest will be next who will fit this “pattern” that is developing. Vlade was let go because he was old, Webber was disposed because he was expensive and very “damaged” physically. Pedja had to go because he wasn’t going to stay anyways and Bibby is going that path slowly but surely. Ron is next in line. Assuming that he won’t blow up on us at some point (which is a bold assumption especially if we continue to lose) he will hardly want to stay for less than max and we don’t pay max anymore and he is also too unreliable to command max so his last year of contract will be an interesting one.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Losing is hard but it is also part of being a fan because if You are one – You take good with the bad (a modified version of marriage). Losing is especially hard if You have been winning for a long time. Losing is hard. You invest time, money and most importantly a part of Your heart (emotions). It matters. Everyone takes losing differently. Everyone deals with it differently too. Some fans continue with “blind loyalty”, others get upset and very critical and the rest finds a medium. Any of those 3 types is equally ok because in the end You still support/love zyour team. If You are a fan – You can’t just walk away. My point – just because some fans criticize more doesn’t make them being less of a fan. Just different.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like we will “miss” on AI unless something dramatic happens which is always possible. Assuming that he lands somewhere else we will never find out whether it would have been good or bad thing. We will miss on a future HOF player and a fierce competitor with big heart. He is also big scorer and a very good defender. And we will miss change of any kind of the team that is pretty much dead in the water. What we won’t miss is another injury prone guy coming to Sacramento which is equal to an ice cube coming close to the sun. We also won’t have to worry about practices in general. There will be no need to think about how the coach’s authority would be and how that Muss-Ron-AI triangle would coexist. And yes, there is that huge ego that never met a shot that didn’t like and prefers the one-man-offense. We also won’t miss 8-23 night in and night out either We could have used the change tough.Man, we need a change. We need something to happen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The body language in the recent game was worse than a body language that You can usually see from people at funerals or from people that bought Ron’s CD. What we looking for is a “quick fix” which worked last season. Obviously not every change is good but when times get desperate and You get to a point at which You got nothing to lose – might as well take a chance. Looks like the price to pay in this case was Kevin Martin and that is expensive considering that the trade would still not get us in the position to contend because – yes – we are still too short.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lately, I get the feeling that our front office (GP + Maloofs) have lost it. I think that “the hamster left the wheel” and did not return. In the past – the trades and changes were easier simply because we had our big guys set (CW & Vlade) and the rest of the puzzle wasn’t hard to complete. Now, we keep making changes and not getting anywhere because we have no foundation. You build a house from the ground. The roof comes at the end. Also – I don’t like the gambler’s mentality that we seam to adopt lately. A gamble doesn’t get in trouble when he loses what he has. He gets in trouble when he gambles away what he doesn’t have while trying to win back what he lost before. I am afraid that – we are getting ourselves into that vicious circle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
While watching this disaster of the Warriors game – I was thinking about things that I would rather do than watching this game if I was forced to make a choice in no particular order.
Have root canal procedure done
Have colonoscopy
Watch Bravo channel
Listen to Bill Walton
Buy Ron’s CD
Hire Linsday Lohan as my driver
Eat Taco Bell food
Shop
Move loan
Wait for Godot
Admit that poker is a sport
Etc…

Another frustrating night. We lost a game against a bad team missing 2 starters. We scored 113 pts and we were never in the game. We had 6-0 lead but unfortunately there were46 minutes left to play. We can list all the factors but the fact is that Warriors are better team at the moment which isn't hard but look, we had Hawks, and Warriors had us. They had 6 players in double figures and non of them were named Richardson or Murphy. The whole Warriors team played like a TDM all star team and we watched. Just did not feel the need to disturb them. And if You aren't Suns - You won't win on the road allowing 126 pts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
TDM award went to Matt Barnes which I predicted and it wasn't a surprise. However - 13-22 6-9 (3pt) 11rb 3a 3st 1bl 32 pts - I did not see coming. Ghame on me
LW-VC award goes to Mike Bibby and I am going to stop right here because I might cross the line.
JHA award went again to our genius strategist Muss and I have to stop here again
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jazz are next and only thing that we have going for us is the theory of big numbers or as I like to call it - even a blind chicken finds a corn sometimes. Other than that - we are toast.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - pathetic display. Great leader
Ron - thank god he still didn't realize that he is on the Titanic
Brad - whatever
SAR - tried hard to foul out and get ejected but couldn't even do that tonight
Kevin - deserves better than being mentioned in the same group with the rest of ... I feel sorry that he has to play on such a bad team
------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - didn't he say that he likes the look of the team in the paper today ?
Salmons - will miss AI very soon - or not
Hart - did in 13 minutes what SAR couldn't in 24 and why is he playing anyways ?
rest - mateen and that is a good thing these days.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - what are You doing man ? Why is Hart playing and Price isn't ? How did You get the job ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jazz are next and they don't even have to play to beat us. If they have some players that are struggling tonight - we will fix it. Just don't tease us.
TDM will go to whomever. Might be a tough battle. LW-VC awars will go to a King player - probably a "big man". Can Muss get the JHA back to back. He has the talent for it. Tough times ahead of us.
