I just got home after a very long day.

I cannot believe this is actually being talked about. Of course, I'm more surprised someone would waste their time perusing that Laker board.

Face it. The Lakers would have been a better spot for his rap career. That's all he meant.

Since the moment he's come to Sacramento, he's been a model citizen, he's been totally dedicated to the Kings, and I - for one - couldn't possibly care less if he made this statement. It's what he does on the court that matters, not how some people want to spin every single word out of his mouth.

I didn't waste my time looking at a Lakers site. My brother is a Lakers fan and he pointed it out to me. I just posted it to see what you all thought. Thought it was something worth discussing seeing as theres not much else to talk about right now. I agree about Ron, I didn't worry about anything he said, he loves it here and as long as he plays like he did last season I'm happy.

Let's not forget this quote came before....

Ron was very impressed with a Maloof brother for recently showing the sack (so to speak) and peeing in a Ghetto apartment. Ron was so taken in fact that he promised his permanent allegiance to Sacramento. You could even say he's showered his allegiance to the owners and the city ever since.

BTW Kobe and Artest would have been a lot scarier than Artest and Bibby. Duh. Let's be happy the Lakers didn't pull the trigger.

I think Ron is happy in Sac as long as he feels like he's on a team that's trying to be good. His goal here is to get his reputation back so he can get the regard he deserves.

But if you were Ron having to decide between the Kings and the Lakers, not caring at all about the rivalry wouldn't you rather go to a team that is almost guaranteed to go the finals in any 5 year period? Play with NBA giants Kobe and PJ on a legendary franchise in an international city?

Ron was just keepin' it real.

I really don't believe that this is a comparison of him being on the Kings.

Indiana was trying to trade Ron for whatever they wanted back. Ron thought about his rap album(it's not like he was playing at the time). You got players calling saying "Come to __________"(Not just Kobe mind you, Bibby called Ron as far back as the "Suspension" to say that he should be a King). Nice of Kobe to try considering they've never talked before then.

What did he ultimately choose?

He's not hurting anyone for saying what "might have been" It's all about the end result....he's not a Laker but a King so be happy for that.

OMG, they are so confused in that forum!!!

these posts are hillarious...

"I wish we had Artest, I'm not sure if I would've traded Bynum for him though."

...and

"it was either bynum or artest..

i pick bynum"

stupid Laker fans...
You can no longer be a member on Clublakers when you hit the age of 16, similar to the old Latino boy band Menudo. Most threads there are about Kobe's shoes; the ranking of Kobe on NBA Live; Kobe's muscles; Bynum's muscles; "Kobe > MJ"; etc.

Some of youz may have forgotten that Webber admitted that he was hoping the Maloofs would "just trade me to the Lakers" as soon as he scoped out the team and landscape in Sacto. This was during an NBC halftime segment in his contract year (2001) and on the heels of his whining about soul food restaurants, etc.

Yes, Webber said it BEFORE he had ever played a game in front of the Arco faithful. After a very short time here, he was pretty obvious in his feelings about the community and the fans. He loved both - and still does.

I'm just saying that considering Webber said the same basic thing, it's not that monumental if a kook like Artest says it.

why do u get so defensive about Ron. Bynum is a 7 footer and he will be in the league for another 15 years atleast if he is able to run. that is the state of the nba, when you see players like O'tag, Kandi etc etc having a career when they cant even catch a ball, I guess the kings even signed one of those kind of guy and already have potapenko who may not even get off the bench anytime. if the kings released them there will be another team to sign them cos they are 7 footers.

On the other hand Ron does have a reputation of being unpredictable and the reason the pacers wanted to trade him was because he wanted to focus on his rap career and not basketball.

But for players like your user name they have to be carefull cos there are so many of them and might find themselves out of the league soon. Talk to Sprewell, Isiah rider, Bonzi etc etc to see how those smaller guys have a tough time staying in the league

I find it hilarious that we have discussed this to 40 posts and the above is the case. :D
