Palmer Park, Md. (AP) - Prince George's County police have identified the officers involved in two recent shootings.
Police say officers Robert Lee and
Bruce Bowen shot and killed 25-year-old Anthony Johnson on Monday in Capitol Heights after Johnson pulled a loaded handgun on them. They were attempting to stop him after reports that he had threatened employees of a nearby grocery store with a gun.
Another officer-involved shooting happened late Sunday at another grocery store in Clinton. Police say officer Curtis Gouldin shot a man after he ran toward Gouldin, ignoring orders to stop and show his hands. Witnesses had told Gouldin that the man had been involved in a shooting in the parking lot.
The man was shot in the wrist and was treated at the hospital. He has not been identified. Police are still investigating whether he was involved in the parking lot shooting.
Gouldin and Lee are two-year veterans of the force. Bowen has been with the force for one year. All three have been removed from street duty while the department investigates the shootings. </B></STRONG></SPAN></B></STRONG></SPAN>
