Well's Agent, Kings Talking

Bonzi hasn't been a bad guy since his Portland days. The crap with Fratello and not playing him many minutes and off the bench, was all Fratello. Bonzi didn't deserve that. Understandably, after being a starter and good minute guy befoe that, you'd think Bonzi's gonna be like "what the hell is going on?".

Just ask Bobby Jackson who had a similar problem with Fratello and utilization, and didn't like the way he coached. Thus it drove him not going back to Memphis.
I think blaming only Fratello for what happened in Memphis is a bit of a cop out. Sure Fratello is a ****wit and it now easy to get along with. If Bobby Jackson had problems with him then that tells you something. However, Bonzi is not a saint in all this. Bobby had trouble with Fratello but he still played and was not "removed" from the team. Bonzi was and that would suggest that Bonzi's reaction to Fratello's demands wasn't exactly saintly.

None of us know what happened but just analyzing the situation from afar, I don't think Bonzi was squeaky clean either.

Any news yet? Somehow, with each passing day, resigning Bonzi seems to be more and more unlikely.
I agree with Celt, above. It seems the longer this goes on and Bonzi doesn't sign elsewhere, the more obvious it becomes that offers aren't just pouring in.

It sure will be interesting to see how things go down... in the meantime, however, all of the other good free agents are being sucked up.

The Kings do not have anything to snap the FA's up with UNLESS they pass on Bonzi... another good sign. Improvemnts to the will come from trades not FA signings. Maybe one or tow of the kids will bring something, but the Kings are jsut not in the position to go after FA's that would make adiffernece anyway.

my patience is wearing extremely thin. if bonzi wanted to stay as bad as he said he did, and other teams aren't throwing tons of money at him then he shoulda signed already. get it done already. other moves need to be made.

Your patience is wearing thin?

Do you think Petrie is sitting back, smiling and happy that this is dragging on? He's going to do what's best for the Kings, and if he hasn't put a line in the sand yet, I'm sure there's a reason. And, for all we know - or don't know - there may be a line in the sand and there may be a date cast in stone.

Petrie always plays things close to the vest. The fact that no other team has leaked any kind of rumors lately seems to indicate the Kings are, in fact, in the driver's seat.

yeah, it is. and legitmately so. regardless of what Petrie is doing, and we clearly don't know what that is, it's still rather frustrating that this process is taking so long. my post was expressing my personally being upset at how much time this is taking, not to be responded to with a condescending post like the one that followed.

my patience is already shot.

That said, at this point, the damage from the delay is already done. There are virtually no free agents of interest left on the board. Maybe Marcus Banks if you really like him. Al Harrington of course (of no use to us). Keith Van Horn anybody? Just not much. And if the rumblings are correct, we are once again luxury tax conscious and basically have no intention of using our MLE unless Bonzi walks and we are left with the cap room. Note: that's only if he flat out walks -- because if its a sign and trade, we are still pinned against the cap + no MLE. In fact I would think we might have a hard time accepting a sign and trade if Bonzi was being paid TOO much just because if we are that tax conscious, it could put us over.

In any case, this late in the game, with all the other free agents of note gone, and with no money to spend on them even if Bonzi resigns, the only way for us to be significantly hurt further is if after all this delay we end up losing Bonzi too. Then we would have missed out on everything -- our own FA and everybody else's too.

Bad news is that as usual we now have 2 strikes against us -- we didn't solve our problems in the draft, and it seems that the best we are going to do in FA is to break even, if that. The good news is that our last remaning option, and the potenital third strike, is a trade. And that happens to be where Geoff does most of his work anyway.

Agreed.

I really wonder what our front-court will look like on opening night. Far as the draft goes, there really werent any good bigs to take in the 1st round by the time we got to pick. Other than Josh Boone and Alexander Johnson, they were all gone, and we didn't have a 2nd round pick. So hopefully we get Amundson and Williams from training camp.
