Chad Ford's Analysis:
Draft Projection: Late first to early second
Similarities: Poor man's Ben Gordon
Notes: Douby declared for the 2006 NBA Draft on April 11. Douby hired agent Keith Glass, ending his college eligibility.
Positives: Scouts like a lot about his game. An excellent shooter with deep range. He's quick, athletic, can create his own shot and is shooting a respectable 40 percent from three. That's a pretty complete package for a guard.
Negatives: However, that's only half the story. Douby measures in at 6-foot-3, doesn't have many point guard skills to speak of and has a rep of being selfish on offense. His slight build and lack of strength also work against him.
Summary: Douby got a lot of love in the press after several dominating offensive performances in February. A 41-point effort (and nine 3-pointers) versus Syracuse on Feb. 1 really started the draft Douby campaign. Now that he's decided to enter the draft, where will he go? NBA teams do like scorers like Douby who can come off the bench and put up some instant offense -- but only if they understand and accept their role. Can Douby? He's a bubble first rounder at this point. He could go as high as Indiana at No. 17 or slip down to a team like Houston at No. 32.
Scouts Inc. evaluation: Douby could be the steal of the draft. This kid can score. He has great range on his jump shot and has shown the ability to make shots beyond the NBA arc. He is very good at putting it on the floor and shooting one-handed floaters and mid-range shots. Does not really take it to the rim and finish.
Has long arms and is wiry strong. Good speed and quickness. He can put it on the floor and get his own shot. He has a scorer's mentality and thinks he can make any shot. Great self-confidence and wants to take big shots. Makes them in crunch time. Gets his shot off quickly and will be very good in a two-man game situation. Comes off screens intelligently and comes off thinking score. Never hesitates, which makes him such a great scorer.
He is long and athletic enough to defend, but he needs to have the same passion on defense as he does on offense. Should he get that, he will be able to guard people in the NBA.
Tough-minded kid, likes to be challenged and likes to take over the game. Has a "bring it on" attitude and loves to show people he can play. This attitude is what makes him good and is something you can't teach. Could be a big-time scorer at the next level. Super confident and has a scorer's cockiness that many players wish they had.

I have a horrible feeling this selection could mean that Bonzi Wells will not be suiting up in the uniform of the Sacramento Kings come fall. I just hope they're able to get something worthwhile for him...

Agreed w/ Slim on MArcus Williams.
I'm not buying Bonzi's gone yet. A 6'3" scoring guard rookie means Bonzi wells is gone? I don't think so. Not like he's going to start at SG, Martin would if Bonzi's gone. If anything, it's to help our bench! and play a combo guard role, and were likely getting a veteran at PG since we have no back-up PG right now.
Quit jumping to weird conclusions guys... I'd be absolutely shocked if Douby's the reason Bonzi's gone.
