De'Aaron Fox Traded to Spurs for Zach Lavine, three first round picks

regarding this trade my feeling are mixed and on a 1-10 scale, i'll give it a 4

first, i'm happy that fox is out. never truly liked him and always had a bad feeling bout him.

I think I criticized him the most out of everyone on this forum, calling him a stupid player, so some people here labeled me (troll, burner account, being on a bad list). Ok, he’s improved in the meantime, fixed some flaws, stopped playing 1-on-5 basketball... what I couldn’t get past was that he was extremely 'coddled' by this franchise, and still only gave us a maximum of two seasons of really good basketball. I don’t know how his first four seasons looked to most people, but for me, at times, it was painful to watch...
Luka was skipped in the draft, Hali was traded, proven three-point shooters were brought in... all just for him to 'blossom'... and he really did. However, after the first challenge after 2022/23 season, he decided to pull up anchor and walk away.

7 years of nurturing for this?

THIS! After Luka was moved, everyone is and should be a little spooked until that deadline passes. Dubs lost and Suns got smoked in similar fashion tonight as well
Dubs were pretty short handed after the Butler trade. They are either going to go an a big run or Butler and Draymond will be fighting in the locker room. Doubt there will be a middle ground.

as for the return, i'm pretty much ok with the picks and consequently valanciunas move, but why lavine?

why are we collecting players that bulls so eagerly wanted to get rid of?
if their best shot was play-in in eastern conference, so why anybody thinks that in the western conference will get better?
plus, lavine's contract...

we would suffer because of this move.

I thought that if we don't manage to make the playoffs this season, we should slowly break up the team in the summer and collect picks. with lavine's contract, I'm afraid that will be very difficult. actually picks will be needed to get rid of his contract...

i'm smelling constant play-in limbo here, with late lottery picks every summer, just like bulls recently and just like MJ's hornets.
oh, and we will probably hand our pick to the hawks this summer.

I wonder if we will get the Fox experience graph like we have with Buddy. What would it look like?

OMG this dude is a super star!
He looks a bit worn out lately, is he injured? Why isn’t he talking to media?
Mad Fox is good Fox, he’s back!
What’s wrong with his finger?
50 piece! Never mind on the finger haha!

Just a joke, you could do one of these for every player.

good. Get it out of here and give us a clean slate. After the draft we will have 6 first round picks to move in a trade.

why Lavine? Probably because if you strip away name and reputation he has been a better player than Fox this year. How many more games would we have won this year if we had a high volume 45 percent shooter instead of a 32 percent shooter? We lost a lot of early games due to poor shooting. I’d have to think at least a couple games would have went our way if we weren’t near the bottom.

I doubt both Lavine and Deebo are here long term. Or ideally, Deebo takes the 6th man role next year.

. . .
He's texting players on other teams.
He's demanding to go to specific team.
He pretends agency is doing things while he plots and schemes.
He give fake goodbye.
He talks sh1t about former team (instantly).

from “Monte needs to hold a presser” to “We didn’t need to hear from Monte! where’s Vivek?!” In a span of 24 hours lol

this is why you never negotiate with terrorists

God, why would anyone want to hear from Vivek in this situation?! That's not how the hierarchy should work. The owner should be heard from rarely on matters of team business. The owner should be present upon hiring a GM, and both the owner and GM should be present upon hiring a head coach, to show a united front. But after that, it's the front office's show. Monte is the one to answer the media's questions. If he chooses to offer brusque or vague answers, that's his prerogative (and after that disastrous Nico Harrison presser where he openly admitted to all kinds of idiocy, it's probably best if GMs keep their cards close to their puffer vests). Vivek isn't going to be able to tell the media a damn thing that Monte is disinclined to offer.

Not sure how tight the rules are nowadays, but I wouldn't mind if Monte was petty and pushed for an investigation into tampering charges. Are the players really supposed to be strategizing with other teams on what to trade to get you there?
I imagine it would be Vivek that does this and I hope he is.

Maybe they'll give us #1 overall next time we're in the lottery to make up for it lol.
