I don’t think they’re giving up that ATL 25 pick unfortunately.
I wouldn't be having ANY of that. If Fox is traded to San Antonio, and the return does not include Castle, ATL 25, and ATL 27, then the trade is an absolute failure. Fox is worth a lot more than that. If they don't want to give it up, then they can sit and wait.

And I'm not saying that those three elements are enough. Castle, ATL 25, ATL 27, and just salary filler is still a failure. The Nets got four completely unprotected picks, a barely-protected pick, and a completely unprotected swap for Mikal Bridges - and it's not like Bojan is a useless player. Fox is a more valuable player in this league than Mikal. I know there are San Antonio fans out there who think they can get Fox for free. If they're not in for a very rude awakening I will be pissed.

why are we obsessed with the Spurs. There are 12-13 other teams interested. If Spurs don’t want to pony up or wait then ok fine, bye, next.
If that's the only team he will extend with then it will affect offers from other teams. "Bye, fine, next" might be Duncan Robinson, Rozier, and 2 2nds. Interest from teams doesn't mean they are all ready to pay a Kings ransom

The spurs ATL pick is the only thing of interest anyways. Other than that it’s just a bunch of role players. Castle is the only real prospect and I’m not entirely sold on him as he is a terrible shooter and lacks any explosiveness.
I'd ask for Castle only to flip him (either in a multi-team deal initially or separately) just because he's an asset.

When there are at least 12 teams out there making calls, the next-best offer is sure to beat that.

There's nothing forcing the Kings to deal with SA. Spurs know he will sign if/when he's a free agent so there's zero incentive to give up assets they are planning to use when Fox joins and Wemby enters his prime.

Kings need to do what's going to give them the best deal, period.
It's in such bad faith though for Fox to list preferred teams, because it decreases his value for a team that is not on that list. And he gains nothing for it. He could easily have only privately have mentioned those teams. And, he could simply leave the team he is traded to for his preferred team after a year. It's so, so petty. Fox does not have leadership DNA. He is a tiny, selfish thinker. It's no wonder he yearns to be the beta star on a team his alpha wife chooses. A pathetic man.

Klutch gonna Klutch. Let’s at least squeeze Castle and the Atlanta picks outta these ****ers.
To be fair to Klutch/Paul (and yes, I just threw up in my mouth a little), he did say they'd consider other teams. I'm convinced Barling's source was Recee (all the stuff he got fed about Wes makes a lot of sense if it came from a player's wife) and she is the one who told him it's one team only. Which again, is the emotional player response. It might even be her being the pants wearer in the family going off script and letting everyone know.

If Fox really would like to clear things up, satisfy his friends, and show good will, then he would sign an extension with the Kings right now (if they would have him).

However, enough damage has been done that it may be futile for him to try to gain back his good graces with the team.
Almost certain this thing blew up because we had a deal on the table but required 2027 unprotected first and so we asked him if we made the deal would he sign the extension and he said no.

The risk to everyone is a) maybe the Spurs eye another target. b) maybe Fox gets injured. DMC should give him a call.

I hope Monte starts leaking info about offers other teams have made to try and drum up the bidding. I’d be surprised if we don’t hear about offers from other teams today.
Monte doesn't do that but he surely has let the other GMs know what is on the table. I think having a blind bidding process with a deadline is going to weed out who is serious or not then you counter the best 2-3.

Get Utah involved. We get Collins and ATL 1st. Utah gets Castle and SA gets Fox. FHuerter and Lyles as fillers if needed.
If you get Utah involved I'd ask for Filipowski too. May as well get Cam Johnson while you're at it.

Sac out: De'Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter
Sac in: John Collins, Cam Johnson, Kyle Filipowski, 2025 FRP from Atlanta

Spurs out: Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, Stephon Castle, FRPs
Spurs in: De'Aaron Fox

Utah out: John Collins, Kyle Filipowski
Utah in: Stephon Castle, Keldon Johnson

Nets out: Cam Johnson
Nets in: Kevin Huerter, Jeremy Sochan, 2027 FRP from Atlanta

I would still much rather do a three team deal with the Heat that gets the Kings Kel'el Ware and moves Herro to a third team for additional players/picks OR make a deal with Houston for some of their young players, but this trade at least gets the Kings their rumored targets and a lottery pick.

If it ends up being the Spurs I'd also demand our 2031 SRP and the swap rights removed from our FRP just because.

Then maybe the team makes a deal with one of the other dozen teams that have expressed interest.
If they can put together a fair package they absolutely should. San Antonio gives us Castle, Sochan, 2 ATL picks and at least 2-3 more or no deal.

I would still say that odds are they win this trade in the above case. It also sends a pretty clear message to Wemby that next season they expect to compete for a top 3 seed and the WCF.

The nuclear option fans have got their wish. Ready for another 16 years?
This is not the same scenario, take away Fox and we still have the building blocks to compete. I am of the opinion we have already seen the best of Fox now is a good opportunity to move on vs paying him a huge percentage of our cap. Add to the front court and keep it moving he is after all De'aaron Fox not N.O cp3.
