Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

This is self-fulfilling prophecy...

Sacramento players don't get the benefit of the doubt on foul calls, All Star selections, or End of Season awards. That translates into lower salaries, less endorsement opportunities, and a tougher path to playoff success. Why would anyone want to stay if they can go anywhere else and have a better chance to win, put up MVP type numbers with friendlier whistles, and collect the kind of awards which everyone will point to as defining their legacy?

Moving Fox just reinforces the same status quo which keeps this franchise irrelevant in the overall sports world. And yet we don't really have a choice. This is why I talk about officiating all the time. We've arrived here with Fox because he's a superstar who never gets the superstar calls, rarely shows up in highlight packages, and is already forgotten about by fans, players, and coaches by mid-season even after dropping 100 points in back to back games. I can't really blame him for saying "enough is enough".

And it probably doesn't matter who we draft -- the pattern has already been established. This might be a fun stopping off point for a youngster to build their resume but once the conversation turns to "legacy", if we're not a top 5 team in the league, we really have no chance at keeping our star players.
Why do the rich keep getting richer? It's rigged that way.

At this point I’ve made my peace and just want it done the earliest it can be done so we have a chance to fully adjust before the deadline.
I don't know how to make peace with it. At the end of the day, the team, the fans, and the city aren't good enough for him. Unless something personal happened behind the scenes, I can only be upset with him; and I don't want to be.

His demand to go to 1 team kills all trade value. He is screwing the FANS.
Get picks, picks, and picks and Monte/staff being as good as they are pays out. They might even win in the interim. If the Kings front office bent any more to Fox? Be worried. They'd have no clue what they are doing. Do NOT be the Suns 2.0. They traded Hali for Fox, that was enough. Didn't work for a variety of reasons, time to move on.

So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

We hope. If we do another guard in this trade I will call for Monte’s head
I hope we get Castle back but he is more of a long term play we maybe even flip down the road. I think the other big piece we get will be a wing though, and enough picks to keep some for ourselves and also go get Cam and solve the Huerter problem.

It's actually falling into place nicely and I like Cam a lot more if Fox is gone because it doesn't crowd out the development of Keon and Devin.

It’s always been rigged that way
Cleveland and OKC are the top teams in the league by a large margin. We were too once upon a time, no reason we can’t again. Sac is a much more desirable destination than it was 20 years ago too (altho maybe not for multi millionaires). CBA is more rewarding to small markets than ever before
