The score isn't close but this game could have gone either way. The Knicks probably made a few more threes than their averages say they should and the Kings smoked a lot of gimmes. There's a lot to like about this current iteration of the Kings but giving up too many second chance points and points in the paint were the problems tonight. I hope Monte is paying attention. The ball is in his court right now to finish the roster building job he started. The West looks winnable this year with a few tweaks.

Again he was playing fine before the hip and right thumb injury if his left hand had the possibility of getting worse they wouldn’t have let him play with it to begin with
I think Fox is making the decision regardless. I’m not really sure when his pinky on his left hand got jacked up but since it was revealed a few games ago, it’s been an obvious problem with his touch and his ball handling.

It makes sense that he would. Just thinking about how he has to tape his fingers on his dominant hand. He pretty much has to immobilize an extra finger to keep his pinky straight.

It seems too difficult to effectively play through consistently . It probably can’t get worse if he keeps it taped but it won’t get better without surgery.

I think it’s probably best if he considers surgery. He isn’t getting All NBA.

So only tejusin can be sarcastic sir?
You can drop the sarcastic "sir", it really doesn't help you.

And the answer is: When literally one of every twelve posts - one in twelve not of your posts, of ALL posts - in this thread is you complaining about Fox, you have overused your latitude. Latitude is over. And that bucket is empty for the next game, too.

Well, you hate to see a game like this where you can't even say you kept some legs fresh. Doug has to realize that the contest isn't against teams, it's a battle of math. Stay fresh and notch enough W's to stay in the hunt. Don't burn your guys up because if that happens you might get caught by a team like the next one. Weak legs alone can throw this off the rails in a hurry and if it takes 3-4 games to get them back that could be the end of your play in hopes.

Yeah, the irony is that the reason why he won't take time to rehab is because he wants to maintain eligibility for postseason awards, which he's literally p***ing away right now, because he won't take time to rehab.

Fox’s lackluster play in January is interesting considering he was also much worse in January last season. For reference, below are the deltas in his stats when comparing Oct-Dec to Jan these past 2 seasons…

2023-24: Oct-Dec & Jan Delta
USG% Delta = -5.3%
TS% Delta = -6.8%
FGA Per36 Delta = -3.5
FTA Per36 Delta = -1.9
PTS Per36 Delta = -8.0
AST Per36 Delta = -1.7

2024-25: Oct-Dec & Jan Delta
USG% = -5.9%
TS% = -5.9%
FGA Per36 = -2.6
FTA Per36 = -0.9
PTS Per36 = -5.7
AST Per36 = -0.2

His efficiency has not only been much worse in January, but he considerably lowers his usage, takes less shots, gets to the free throw line less frequently, etc. From an eye test perspective, it looks like he is taking a step back, deferring to others, complacement, indifferent, nonchalant, etc. I think it’s fair to say the stats and eye test line up here.

Maybe next year we can just give Fox the month of January off and tell him we’ll see him after the all star break ;)

Ellis with 17 minutes, Carter with 8. Granted Ellis made some bone headed plays also this game, but this team with our regular rotation is a bottom 10 defensive team.

Keegan is our only long defender who can move his feet and we a having him guard Brunson because neither of our starting guards is up to the challenge. We have seen this same **** every year with Monte and he twice uses a lottery pick on a guard who can only get 8 minutes a game because the back court is too damn crowded.

Monte is approaching Vlade as worst GM ever.

You can make your “Monte sucks point” whenever you want. That’s your prerogative, but to the bolded, you don’t need to lie to try and make that point.

The Knicks didn't even play that great.
They passed the ball exceedingly well, starting with Jalen Brunson: 40 assists on 52 baskets, or 77%, compared to 72% for the Kings. Brunson had 11 all by himself. Also, they took 104 shots to 95 for Sacramento. Why? Because they also rebounded very well, 53-38. On top of all that, New York shot 47.2% from beyond the arc. Sometimes it seemed like they couldn't miss.

The Kings made it to within two points a couple of times, but New York played tough and soon pushed the lead out once again.

I think outside of Mitchell every one of Monte’s drafts have been good to very good. If we end up using Carter to upgrade our roster or keep him as a good rotational price that is good value. Yes we need a trade soon, but based on the only other big swing he has taken I have faith.

do you want to include all the seconds he drafted and traded away for cash?

Another bad start to the match, another run to bring us closer but wasn't enough. I hope DC identifies the issue and make some adjustments.
Ok the refs were awful and NBA is pushing the Knicks as much as possible (let me remind you how we lost last season at G1C with Hartenstein playing rugby/NFL or whatever at Domas), they are the only team with 2 starters in the All Star Game anyway.

For those mentioning Hart, ok let's say miracle happens and Hart is a Kings player... do you honestly think he can have the same hustle without called for his fouls as it has been happening to NY all those years? Was Hart "so good" as a Pelican? I doubt! Keegan was trying to play like him and he got 3 fouls in 1 minute or something at the start of the 4th quarter. I don't doubt he is great player (and great hustle player) but he can't have the same impact as a King 100%.

Also like several of you pointed out, DC messed the rotations/substitutions quite much tonight. DC (the player) was on the court for 4', he had a decent play in both sides of the floor and we saw him only at the garbage time afterwards. Huerter was good as well but I think from that Monk not passing him the ball that he is like a "foreign body" (greek term, dunno if it's the same in English) to the team.

Last but not least, I think we should have a change in our two-way players, Mason Jones has been barely given a chance to play with the senior club and I don't think he can get it, even McLaughlin that came as a Davion upgrade for reserve point guard hasn't been playing either (he is upgrade of Delly in a way). Colby also barely gets a chance since this is a team full of guards. Crawford should be given a chance since we don't have that many forwards. Crowder also seems not to have a place in the roster, apart from that match in Minnesota he hasnt done much. Doug (the player) had some highlights and can be useful when we need his shot. I get it that trades are about to happen but if only Huerter is the one to go (from guards) that won't change anything.
