Terrible Kings trades proposed by the internet super thread 2024/2025 edition

Keon is a guy who wasn't playing a lot of minutes in Sacramento and east coast fans have been cooking up trade ideas on him all season because even they could see in limited time what Mike Brown couldn't.

I'm still a MB fan but I don't get what his blind spot to Keon was. Possible it was just a personnel deal where he didn't want to hurt the feelings of the players that would be losing minutes to Keon.

.

Keon averaged 23 minutes per game in November and then in December all of his games were between 13 and 33 minutes others than 2 minutes against Memphis and then 5 against the Pacers in the blowout. When Mike benched him for that one game in Memphis we all didn’t understand but the next 5 games he logged 21, 16, 20, 33 and 21 minutes. I think it’s fair to argue he should have been playing more but he has definitely been getting solid minutes for a reserve guard under Mike.

I was scratching my head when DC only played him 13min in his first game as interim coach. His only loss, mind you

The two things the Kings have lacked all season have been efficient 3pt shooting and defense. Playing Ellis less than 20min on any night is crazy unless he's just having a bad game.

yeh I’m hoping we sorta copy the OkC model with Dort/Caruso/Wallace/Mitchell/Joe/Wiggins around SGA. Carter/Keon/Monk should be able to get a bunch of minutes especially if Carter/Keon can guard up once in awhile.

He wasn't going to change the game plan they literally practiced that day.

They had a shootaround with Doug but not a true practice, Brown was fired after leading the practice on Friday. I didn't watch the Mavericks game so I think it was during the Philly game that the announcers said the Doug only had his first full team practice the day between those games.

It will be interesting to see what his minutes are after Fox is back. After that first game, Keegan or Fox have been out. A lot less minutes to go around when the squad is fully available.

When the team is healthy and Huerter is traded Fox, monk, Keegan, and Sabonis minutes should be capped at around 32-34. Keep them fresh we have enough talent for that and lets us give ellis and Carter 20-24 mpg

True. I would hope that it would only require a few minutes being snipped off of multiple players in order to keep him at his recent MPG rate. The starters have been relied on too heavily this year. I get the reasoning for it but playing them Thibs minutes but it could cost them games at the end of the year if they're in the playoff hunt.

I do not want to trade Fox. At all. But if self-interested speculation by other franchises turns into rumor turns into "actually gotta get something before he walks", any Fox package that doesn't bring back another All-Star level guy (think Hali/Sabonis) or include at least three unprotected picks is just a non-starter.
Curious what would you think of a Zion for Fox kind of trade?

traded for whom. It’s not like Huerter who literally everyone wants to trade is likely to bring a rotation wing without giving up significant draft capital.

Didn’t we see that already in the Dallas game?

Sabonis 33
Keegan 36
DeRozan 26
Fox 35
Monk 36

Keon got 20 min
Huerter got 20 min

assuming you give Carter all of Huerters min then you still have an issue:

Keon, Carter, Monk, Fox and Heurter are not long enough to play the 3 huge minutes.

DeRozan is at best okay defensively.

you really have 3 guys Lyles, Murray and Sabonis across 96 minutes 4-5 minutes and Keegan often has to add minutes to play defense on bigger offensive minded 3’s.

instead if you trade Fox for a starter level wing

now things look a lot different

Monk / Carter / McLaughlin
Keon / Huerter / Colby Jones

Deebo or Keegan / some small ball

Keegan or new wing / Lyles

Sabonis / Lyles.

even 20 minutes I’m not sure is enough.

We won that Dallas game but I was at that game and it was not pretty basketball.

We struggled against basically the Mavs G league team. Luka, Kyrie, Lively, Marshall, Thompson were all out and we struggled to put them away.

Yeah, no. I was at that game too. The Kings came out asleep and got punked by a hustling G league squad in the 1st quarter only. We outscored them by 10 in the 2nd and 10 in the 3rd. We cruised to a 10 point win and the game was never really in doubt in the 4th quarter.

Zion can't seem to stay on the court. His weight doesn't help, and he doesn't seem to have the desire to fix that. I'm extremely happy that Zion is Somebody Else's Problem and I want it to stay that way. All the talent in the world, would be an absolute disaster to trade for. I'd rather let Fox walk for nothing.

None of those picks would probably have any value and Kuminga is a free agent this summer because the Warriors decided against extending him lol
Kuminga is a restricted free agent.

The Kings would have a pretty decent like up giving up Fox and McLaughlin and getting 3 wings back.

Domas Lyles Len
Keegan or Kuminga or Jaquez
Deebo or Wiggins.

we would add quite a bit of length. Personally I think GS is less likely to do this trade than us
