I'm not sweating the PJ Washington numbers; that guy has gone for 40+ multiple times in his career, and he's basically the only guy they have left. He and Dinwiddie (who has averaged 20pts a game for a season before) are the only guys actually getting buckets for the Mavericks. I predict that Washington will cool off, and then the Mavericks will be screwed.
PJ Washington: 6-12 first half, 2-8 second half.

Drapes was praising Monk several times but he hasn't been good lately including today, many turnovers again, some of them for no reason, just trying to make "flashy" passes or dribbles. It should be him or DDR NOT starting just not to get punched in the mouth from early on in each game.
Something has to happen. The defense between these subs is glaring. If all offense was Dougs idea the whole time with subs, we'll have to see how far this can actually go.

Considering we haven't been anywhere close to "get right" in the last 3 weeks, i'll gladly take the "get" in this scenario. Maybe the "right" comes in the next few games?
I'll be happy - even ecstatic - if we can manage to pull off the "ght" or the "ht" sometime in the third week of January. I've got too much PTSD to believe a three or four game turnaround. I need some good, consistent improvement over a longer term.

Jaden Hardy:

20 minutes
8 points on 7 shots
3 reb
0 ast
2 block
1 TO

Omax:
8 minutes
0 points on 2 shots
1 reb
1 ast
1 steal
clamped by Icraw on the last possession
How the hell did OMax only play 8 minutes while the Mavs were literally missing half the roster? They played a random dude I’ve never heard of at backup point guard against De’Aaron Fox instead of him.

I think this is where we see if Doug really has some potential. Can he get these guys playing all out, for 48 minutes, for a sustained period going forward. This team can’t afford anymore letdown games.

I think that's his strength. I also saw how he benched fox rifht as he was getting ready to play full on hero to start the 4th. And mixed Derozan in perfect time. Along with Ellis. Great sub out there

And here's the thing. Keon had A LOT of errors tonight, by no means a perfect game from him. But he's just such a defensive playmaker and that's something we do not have, outside of Keegan.

I think this team can just erupt if we start spamming the 3 offensive hubs with Keon/Keegan for a good chunk of the game.

This is a "bit" of a cherry pick, but we have 18 "2 man" duos with over 300 minutes. Keon and Keegan are by far the best with 313 minutes on the floor together and the team has a 102.2 DRtg. The next closest? Fox-Keon with 343 minutes and a 105.4 DRtg.

Maybe this is where that "players mentality" the guys keep referencing comes in. Nobody has done a better job of leading by example so he knows what he's asking.

Keegan has it made really. I mean he has no pressure of losing his starting job. No competition pushing him. He can be as bad as he wants.
That is not how these guys think. Do you not see the look of utter concentration in Murray's eyes when he is guarding his man, the crouching stance, the arms spread wide? That is the look of a man who wants to beat his man and beat the other team.

only two games but Doug’s rotations have at least made sense in a way that MB’s didn’t for the last month. Helps that Trey might finally be healthy
So far the main difference seems to be we aren’t seeing that last slot off the bench being split between two guys. Not throwing Colby Jones out there to take a few minutes from Ellis. Not rolling the dice to see if Doug McDermott has it rolling for 5 minutes. Seems like Len is part of the regular rotation but the only guy whose minutes might fluctuate based on the flow of the game.
