What I would do and what Brown would do with regards to Keon is very different. I would be starting Keon, at 28+ MPG. Monk would fill in at the back-up 1/2, Huerter the 2/3, Lyles and IJ take the back-up 4/5.
With what Brown is doing with the rotation, there's not much more room than the current 15-20 MPG role he's currently in. The most realistic thing he could probably do is shave off a few minutes from every one of the starters, who are among the league leaders in MPG and that lets you get more Keon on the floor. But Brown seems insistent on keeping the rotation very tight and running the starters those huge minutes. Probably something with what they see on film, in practice, etc, but that's been their philosophy this season.

I think Jordi is a good coach but I’m curious why he has already been crowned a better coach than Brown? He has had a pretty good start in Brooklyn but that team is full of long defenders and a bunch of their guys were shooting career highs from 3. That’s the type of combo that can lead to a bit of overachieving vs the talent. Again, this isn’t meant to be a slight on Jordi.
I agree he's not the using the roster in the best way to get the most wins.....and I continue to wonder why, exactly. I've laid out some scenarios that may or may not be the reasons.
Also makes me very skeptical that they couldn't find a more effective head coach, but maybe they're stuck in a bad timing spot for who knows how long

Speaking for myself, the more frustrated I am with Brown, the better I assume Jordi is. It's pure emotion!

Meanwhile we're coming out unprepared and giving up big leads every game, choking with sloppy and low IQ play in close games, and the rotations are horrible leading to us underachieving vs the talent on the roster. It could absolutely be a player issue, but it's interesting that all this has cropped up after Jordi bailed.

Of course, it happens quite often in the NBA. Compared to players salaries, a coach's salary is peanuts. Plus, there is no cap space hit, or any penalty, for a coach's salary.

Yeah but how often does this happen where the 2nd chair just bumps the head coach coming off a coach of the year season and a second where the team is 10 games over .500. I can't recall but the hire was made before our season even finished, wasn't it? It was officially announced on the 22nd and out last game was the 19th but I am pretty sure it was done before the play in?
$30 M (for three years) is the value of Mike Brown's contract and that's what he's talking about. The base value of his contract is $8.5 M per year with $1.5 M being bonuses if we made the playoffs. Moreover, it was a raise-and-extend contract, which means 2024-25 is the first year of the contract and it runs for two more years till 2026-27.
Coaches salary do not count under the salary cap and does not attract any luxury tax. Our total cap will end up being under the luxury threshold anyway.

If Brown were to be fired, who do you all see as the "next step up" coach waiting in the wings? Who are we missing out on by having Mike Brown?
Personally, after the years of dysfunction, I've been very happy having a solid, competent coach. He certainly doesn't walk on water, but I'll take his skillset and experience over "gotta go watch the tape" any day (twice on Tuesdays). I've been advocating for an "offensive coordinator" coach for quite awhile now, and I think that would fix a lot of what ails us from a coach performance standpoint. The disconnect with in the team, however...
