Lots of words being typed on this forum lately, but yea. Probably the most succinct way to put this team. Put whoever you want into the grouping of "these guys" but for whatever reason, it's not working. I'm not really sure I care that much at this point as to the reason(s) why? Just know it's not.
it’s good draft. Keep your pick and move Fox for assets.

I don't know what happens in the Eastern Conference since I don't watch matches there due to timezone but when it comes to the West we are by far the... Worst/Less Coached team during the games. Obviously MB likes what he sees (regardless of what he says in the press postgame) and just watches his players applying his instructions that were given before the game. So he does nothing during the game. He only did that in his first season and a bit in his 2nd. So in his first season he got COTY, Monte got executive of the year but in 2nd season none of them got a single vote, and in their 3rd season in this ESPN ballot that was released recently Monte was one of 8 I think front offices that got zero votes.

Is it a form of reverse psychology standing there with his hands inside the pockets? Why he started to change like that? Does he know that the team can't improve and looking for that compensation in case he gets fired? Are we ever gonna see him getting a "T" or sent out going at it against the refs after multiple bullcrap calls against the Kings? (yes I know it happened once already this year). Why in all his previous teams he was doing well in his 1st year and then was getting worse and worse after that?

He stopped taking fast time outs in the beginning of the game though the team has awful starts over and over again (he takes some at the start of the next quarters), he doesn't change the current starting lineup despite of the recent bad starts, I don't know what's wrong with him but this whole different behavior is not working, in Greek "passive" is actually called "pathetic" and that's what describes him the most. He really has to change, be more active, more vocal, unless he gave up and if that's the case there is no point keeping him.

That's largely on Brown. And yes, we KNOW Brown. Unless something is different Carter will have to so far go above and beyond to even get legit minutes that we can't get disappointed otherwise. Goodness gracious, look at Keon. Even all the ratings show that defense at SG is the way.
My biggest gripe with Brown is his handling of Keon.

Ending of the game was typical this season. Coach calls a time out because we are close. After the time out we respond be letting the Lakers go on like a 6 point run. Then somehow , Fox scores a couple of buckets and gets us close again. We have a chance to tie or take the lead with time running out. Fox loses the handle and regains it and short arm the attempt. The Lakers give us a gift by missing two free throws but we let them get another offensive rebound. We lose another close game.

Our clutch players can't score when it counts. That's what clutch is. We dont have it. Also we can't beat anyone by any comfortable margin. Every game is close except two games where we scored an unusual amount.

explain? He is signed this year and next. Do you really think management is going to let their best asset since CWebb leave in free agency after next year? This will either be resolved in the offseason because we turned it around and he signs an extension or he asks for a trade and we get a motherload.
Yeah, give it a full year. At least. Let him EARN that contract.

Man do agree with this. He is too quick with the entire bench to pull them after one mistake and DNP them for a few games. A player like Keon is still developing and needs the minutes and like to see him closing games honestly
I can't say for certain whether if Brown is expecting perfection from his players but since we are on the subject, this article did hit the right notes

I'm convinced it's as much a wrong personality mix as anything else, the team is too meek... I think this team is in dire need of their version of a Draymond, D. Brooks, Smart, Rasheed Walace etc. Not necessarily a big stat leader but a 'energy' leader. I love Fox but seems he just isn't that guy. I'm surprised Crowder hasn't got some consistent token minutes after the Minny game to see if that ignited anyone

I get what you're saying. The question is what that means. That team happened upon a unique duo in Bonzi and Artest. One without the other, along with Adelman of course, was fart sounds, lol. And it might have still failed in year two, who knows. I personally don't think another scorer or defender that pushes DeRozan out of position makes sense. At some point, Domas and Fox have to start willing this team to victory in the clutch. They aren't.
Very true. It's going to have to be something that shifts our carelessness and laziness in some areas but i just don't know what. If Capela weren't already over the hill and expensive, i'd say go for it, but then you have to deal with him being a liability on offense.

Edit: I wonder if our coaching staff can ask the players what will suit them best in terms of how the offense and everything is run? The read and react thing ain't working and i don't think we have enough smart players for it to work. We need more purpose and intentionality at all times. Structure.

Hmmm….didn’t watch the game. Checked the score a couple times, but didn’t care to watch the game at this point.

I tell you, maybe it’s a midlife crisis on my part, but fandom changes as you age. I don’t feel the need to sit through this pain to try to justify my fandom. Life is good folks, try to enjoy Christmas and/or whatever other holiday that brings you joy.
Same

Thank you very much for posting this article. It reflects what I have been expressing since seeing the first video of a Mike Brown practice in his first year as coach of the Kings. The article is a spot on explanation for the condition the Kings' team finds itself. It is a team-wide issue that has affected (or infected) all players to different degrees.

EDIT: Just to expand the thought a bit more. I have always advocated that the current Kings team, is ripe with extremely talented players that should be performing at a higher level than is being seen. How fine players (think Keegan and Huerter for example) can come to this team and, within a year, badly underperform based on their past history is a tragedy.

The oft-discussed "players we need" threads will result in those players being thrust into the toxic environment that is found in Sacramento. As an example, DeRozen comes here with admirable credentials, performs well for the first several games, and currently is in the doldrums on the floor. This team is not weak, it is not worthless, it is broken. You all know what needs to be done and that is a cathartic culture change...accept it. There is but one way to achieve it.

I am in watch and wait mode at this point. I thought putting Monk in the starting lineup would get things to click, and they did...up until the Denver loss, as SLAB points out. Yesterday was his worst performance as a starter, by far, and even Fox's brilliance could not pull the painting out of the fire.

And for heaven's sake, play Keon Ellis as much as possible. Isaac Jones and Doug McDermott need more run, as well.

Since we're all grasping at straws on what changes we could make, I'll throw one out there. Stop playing Heurter against good teams. It's clear we're trying to save face on the trade, but it's time to accept the trade as a loss. It started off looking great, but has unfortunately gone downhill since 22-23. Kevin clearly can't hang with the big boys and we saw it in the playoff series against the Warriors. Keon should be eating up all those minutes in game where we need defense, shooting, and intensity. We can still play Heurter against lesser competition and hope he can have a big game similar to what he did against Utah earlier this year. It's time to stop saving face on the trade at the expense of Keon.

you aren’t getting a motherload in the last year where someone is renting him for 3-4 months. You are lucky to get anything since they can just sign him in free agency. Why do you think owners set the timing for an extension before the last year?

As for …….

Do you really think management is going to let their best asset since CWebb leave in free agency after next year?

this isn’t managements call at all. How many national commercials do you see Fox in? This call is Fox saying he wants to win and Klutch telling him how many more endorsement deals he can get in a major market. Small market and not winning is death. If Fox wants to leave he can do it whether our management wants it or not.

Consider also LeBron has a player option next year and then is an UFA. Lakers could easily offer Fox the max deal without a sign and trade. This situation is clearly playing out as the Lakers signing Fox to play with AD and Klutch signing him to major endorsement deals. If the Kings don’t trade Fox now the chances of him walking for nothing is greater then 50%.

Monte had a chance and drafted stupidly. He wasted the slim assets the Vlade left him and is now on the precipice of losing his best player. If management is smart, acknowledges reality and makes a trade now they might salvage part of it.

Sadly I expect him to F it up.
