When Do We Blow It Up?

That team age wise was so different. Monte has more time. I still think at least 1 season at the very least.
my best guess is kings make a trade for a forward, see how the team looks with that guy plus the addition of Devin. Gives Mike two guys that will do what he wants and then if we don’t turn it around Vivek fires Brown ugh and promoted his initial choice Doug. I really don’t want to deal with this again haha

Still think the best timing to be a seller is this trade deadline. Another FRP for a forward that most likely is not a needle mover is a waste, but yeah it is what Vivek would do.

You have to try and maximize the talent you have on the roster. You have 3 all star level talents, why throw that away after a 13-15 start? If at the end of this season you don’t see improvement then you are probably going to see a Fox trade. He is worth a young player or two and 3 good draft picks. That’s a mini re-tool instead of a total rebuild.

I’m not the biggest fan of fox at this moment but you don’t trade him till next deadline when he demands out. Trade Derozan dudes a 35 year old ball stopper with terrible defense he doesn’t fit unless he agrees to come off the bench

I just don’t see how that’s an option there not gonna punt on the season.

Also if we trade fox we should look into getting one of Zion or ingram to replace his scoring
I would argue never punting on any season is partly why they are in their current situation.

That said if they could get a decent forward and back up forward for Fox they would be a better team.

If Houston is offering Amen Thompson, Smith, and picks yes but I doubt they do that and other teams that can offer something similar wouldn’t make a major move like that right now. Looking at Orlando with a Franz and picks or Spurs with Castle and Vassel offer

Any discussion of second rounders probably should include discussion of undrafted free agents as well, since all indications are that the lines between them are blurring. It’s not enough, but hitting on one Keon Ellis does make up a lot of ground for missing on the others.

Also, and this is a personal pet peeve, but I think bears repeating: if a player was drafted by the Kings but immediately traded to another team, the other team was the one making that selection. It’s much more accurate to refer to the pick traded, in addition to/rather than just the player.

Monte clearly sees second rounders as contract and financial assets as opposed to depth pieces. He has used them to free up space a couple times now. Both Keon (already a home run) and Isaac (potentially a ground rule double) make up for not hitting on seconds in my opinion. I think Monte knows he had one round left in the chamber and doesn’t want to waste it but I think he has to take action on one or two first rounders to give us the juice we need. I don’t worry about those picks sinking us like the Nets/Boston deal because we have a pre or in prime core that we can re-tool instead of rebuild if needed. If this ship sinks, Fox should get us a young player and 3 first rounders to restock the cupboards with. Plenty of opportunity to have a fun team with Monk, Keegan, Sabonis, young player A, Devin Carter and then up to 7 first rounders (our own and incoming traded ones). I don’t want us to trade Fox but if it happens there is still hope for the Franchise.

In answer to the topical question: It was ready 10 games ago. Are we there yet? Do we now have consensus that some fairly radical measures must be taken? Unless you believe in the tooth fairy and McNair is somehow going to get a lot of something for a lot of nothing in a trade, then you eat it - eat the delusion that this team has any chance as it is currently constructed of being anything more than mediocre. In other words, the ceiling is mediocrity. There is room for less than mediocrity if such things as injuries and player disenchantment should arise.

McNair strikes me as a pretty stubborn dude. He has his draft, trade and FA methodology and he sticks to it no matter what. But reality has a funny way of not cooperating with strict set of rules. This team has kicked him in the teeth and one has to wonder if his view of this team and of his own decision making process is now in question. My question is when or if he finally says, "No mas," and changes course.

I would take Smith and what we could get by routing VanVleet to a 3rd team.

I really don't like when a player says "I also want to win", it's not like the Kings have not been trying they built the whole team around Fox from trading away Hali to get him Sabonis,(amazing move) drafting Murray more for fit (while being a good player) and this season they got maybe the most talented available/gettable player (not a fan of the move) in DDR and added shooting last season in Huerter (looked good at one point ) and his best friend and elite bench scorer Monk. The team is trying to win it's on you to carry them to wins.

If he wants to win and show he's a superstar and max player(he showed when then Kings made the playoffs) than do it, there is far less talented players and teams currently out performing Fox and the Kings currently.
