Also with Kev playing good and Mike keeping one of Malik or Fox on the court at all times, there was really no where for him to play in the tightened rotation tonight.
The first subs in the game were K'Von, Isaac Jones, and Colby Jones. So yeah, I don't think it was just a minutes crunch. He was sending a message to Keon. Which I'm fine with, honestly. He seemed a little miffed with him after the San Antonio game and they'll work out whatever it is and Keon will be back in the rotation.

The real minutes crunch will happen when Devin Carter gets healthy. You have to figure as a lottery pick he's going to be in the rotation soon and that means one of Ellis or Huerter probably won't be, at least not every night. It's something to watch for anyway.

Huh? Colby didn't play till garbage time.

Apologies if this has been answered already.... Is there any news on why Ellis got a DNP? Thanks
We think largely due to circumstance (Kevin returning and playing well) and partially due to his poor and costly play against the Spurs. I would expect we will see him in Memphis to help contain Bane

This seems a lot like Mike Brown proving a point. With Monk starting there was zero reason for Keon not to get backup PG/SG minutes otherwise. Now, what he wants Keon to change if that's the case, I'm not sure.

This is the same issue with Huerter still on the team. The Kings are reportedly still shopping him so it would probably be hard to sit him entirely at this point.

It's the kind of thing a coach can get away with when it's a guy on a minimal contract. Not so much with someone who makes ~15+ mil a year.

If he wants him to not make any mistakes, then it's a delusional exercise

Rewatching the game, the biggest difference between Domas and Sengun is motor and effort on defense. Neither guy is great on that end of course but Domas works his freaking ass off every possession to try and make something while Sengun more often than not is getting lost and trying to pressure the ball for some reason and letting his man slip behind him to the basket for a dunk. Also Domas is one tough SOB (Son of Big Arvydas) while Sengun got ejected because he got mad the refs weren’t falling for his flops.

Yeah, I rewatched that play multiple times, and it was like, chest-bump on the perimeter (no foul), chest-bump at the key (no foul), Sengun half chicken-wing with the off arm (probably no foul), Sengun flop with incidental Domas hand on the back briefly (only a foul if you bait the refs). Getting ejected for arguing that is pretty sad.

Sorry, this is wrong.

There's maybe like.. 3 coaching jobs that are "safe" in the NBA? Otherwise, you're pretty much always coaching for your job, coaching for the next extension. There's 0 chance Brown is playing around with Keon's minutes because of the contract. It's because he thinks other guys might help us win more and he doesn't fully trust Keon yet.

I obviously don't agree. Keon should be a 20 MPG guy every night. He's earned and proven that. Brown's still not there yet, for whatever reason. He doesn't think Keon is fully ready to be that big rotation minute guy yet. It's not because of a contract.

Sengun is super fun, but my goodness the dude is BBQ chicken trying to defend space. Get him in the PnR and profit (which Monk did with Domas.. over and over and over again).

That's fine. I think you've implied that you don't necessarily think that they're still wanting to move Huerter. I do, so it tends to change the view of how the roster is being managed

I think they're willing to move him, but I think there's no chance they just dump him for enders. If he's traded it'll be involved to get a Cam Johnson/DFS type here.
