We can argue about this forever. What it comes down to is mindset. Some people are ok with just being competitive year in year out. Others like me consider it a huge failure if we can’t win the big game. There’s no right way or wrong way to be a fan, everyone is different. I will admit that I’m old. I grew up watching the 49ers win, win, and win, year in year out. And when they didn’t win it all, from Eddie DeBarrolo all the way down to Felicia at the front desk, the season was considered a huge failure. I have all the SF chronicle front pages with “49ERS WIN” plastered across the front. Attended all the parades. Met all of the hall of famers in Rocklin. The 49ers use to be all about the Super Bowl win at all cost and that’s just not the case anymore. Times change and I’m having a hard time letting what I grew up with go. That’s on me. I’ll continue to watch because I absolutely love this franchise but it’s hard to accept that they may not win another ring for the forseeable future. This season was our best chance. We had the most talent, a better QB, and a down chiefs team, and they still couldn’t get it done. This was the year of “no excuses”. Que sera sera…….
My daughter turns 19 in 3 months and she’s never seen a 49er Super Bowl ceremony. I’d like to experience just one with her.

Where I have a problem with a lot of people posting on this forum these days, is they throw a silly premise out like "Brown is a second rate coach! Shanny is a second rate coach!" And the second they get pressed on that take, they have absolutely no response to what the solution would be. They just want to be the old man yelling at the clouds.
Shanny is not a perfect coach. He's made mistakes and he made some mistakes in the super bowl. He's also one of the best 3 coaches in the NFL. Both of these can be true at the same time.
