I put the culture change square in Browns lap. Sure guys buying is important too, but without a good coach, a player/peer can only inspire, lead, coach teammates so much. They trust him. Browns done nothing for me to even talk about replacing him. Is he prefect? Nobody is. Also im going to miss Jordi and I hope the culture change isn't totally his doing

I'm pretty sure in an interview, I think last year, Brown mentioned how challenges aren't in his department and he relies on the assistants. He implied his only part is telling the ref.

I think he could call timeouts better and sub players a little better. Im expecting a more coherent rotation after the trade deadline.

It will be interesting to see what jobs are open next season. I figure it would be:

Wizards- they have an interim now. Don’t think this job will be desirable. They may or may not be moving and they don’t have a star to build around. I suppose they could find one in this draft or next but this team is probably 3 seasons away from even competing for a playoff spot.

Hornets- they have some nice building blocks between Melo, Miller and Williams so this one is more appealing. I don’t know if Melo is a leader though.

Blazers- not sure the plan with Billups. This is a desirable job. Ton of young talent and some
Veterans. If Chauncey is fired I’d guess Jordi lands here.

Nets? Not sure if they want to make a change.

Lakers- if they get bounced early or don’t make the playoffs Ham gets canned. Hey!

Who do we lose from the staff if Jordi does get a job? Luke would likely get promoted to lead assistant to Mike. Dutch has been instrumental to Keegan’s development so it would be hard to lose him.

Semantics aside, we currently have a head coach who was unanimously voted the Coach of the Year last year after helping the Kings to break the longest streak in NBA history of missing the playoffs. That was last season. This guy should already have a statue in front of the arena if you ask me. Of course he's not perfect, nobody is. He's still got us playing winning basketball. Our franchise guys are playing the best ball of their careers. Our top 5 pick All-Rookie selection forward is showing massive growth in all aspects of his game. It may not look like it, but this squad is also playing the best defense of any Sacramento Kings squad since 2006. What is there to complain about?

Again, Brown has some faults for sure and things he can clean up. He's also far and away the 2nd best coach in Kings history and honestly had a chance to surpass Adelman some point down the road.

Musing that Jordi could be considered to replace Brown is silly and nonsensical. Has no basis in reality

We can talk all we want about Brown's "X's and O's" but the bottom line is the biggest impact he's had is a major culture change, making the team believe in themselves, sticking together, etc. He's also greatly impacted the careers of Fox and and Sabonis, making them top 20 type players. Just compare his composure, charisma, professionalism, etc. with that of Puke Walton. Once you think long and hard about those disgusting years, you'll appreciate Coach Brown even more.
It was very very telling, when Sabonis talked about how much this team loves each other and how they’re sticking together, right after our 4th loss in a row, following an insanely heartbreaking week of losses. After the loss at home to Indiana, i actually felt better after seeing what he’d said and i was pretty confident they’d have a good road trip. That’s how special this group and the coaching staff is, though far from perfect of course.

I actually think Brown's biggest flaw is being too loyal to his former players. This is a positive on the surface, but I think he takes it too far at times. I believe this is why we see Jamale playing over Len.

like it or not, it appears the team’s primary vocal leader is Javale. Mike has alluded to this and even Fox said in the post game last night that Vale has been getting on them about closing games. I think Brown believes playing time is a requirement for credibility sake. He seems to have determined that outweighs the Shaqtin a fool moments.

Disappointing if that is the real reason. Len has thoroughly outplayed McGee, going back to last season where Brown didn't play him all season till very late, then quickly gained enough trust to use him in the playoffs.

I'm reserving full judgement on rotations and playing time until after the deadline

Makes too much sense. plus it's not a far move, Keegan's doppleganger is there, they have picks, they have young talent, they don't need to win next year and it won't be hard to improve on how awful Billups has been. The one thing is Portland folks are very eager to move on. They actually have their own Gentry situation with Scotty Brooks there. But it's possible if they fire too early he does enough that fans demand he get the job. I don't know if they are ready for another rookie coach even if its a young deserving one with pedigree. So we'll see. (also crap ownership situation but whatever)

Hall of Famer
Please remember that Domas, Keegan, and Coach Brown arrived together in 2022. Things changed with the Kings. Determining the source(s) and cause(s) of that change is open to inspection, supposition, and discussion.
The conspiracy theorist that you are regarding Brown losing the locker room is one of the most bizarre things I’ve read on here. Brown laid the foundation and is responsible for the culture change. A guy like Domas absolutely has his part in it as does Fox……Keegan was a rook last year, he was a follower last year. Monte also has his part in this by bringing in Brown and players.

But Brown is THE guy who laid it out.

An opinion and nothing more.

An opinion based on facts and not made up weird stuff. I’m starting to think GWD might be Luke Walton
Your opinion is based on the Kings being good for the first time in 20 years under Brown.

His opinion is him thinking Brown was putting these guys through "PTSD" because his practices were too hard? Or that shooting FT's at the end of practice, and if they miss, is doing them boundless ends of mental harm?

But yeah, "both opinions". Mhm
