Kings trade rumor SZN 2023-2024 edition!

Perhaps Coach Brown told Monte to load up on defense. So he did with Duarte, Edwards, Ellis, Jones, and Davion. Unfortunately, they all sit but for maybe a few minutes here or there.

Now the trade effort is to get an all-start offensive/defensive talent (that all teams want). We shall see if one can be had and if he (or they) will actually make monumental game-changing and playoff differences.

If nothing happens in trades, then the Kings could work the defensive specialists that we already have into the rotation while letting the burden of shooting go to the shooters we already have. With five defenders rotating with six fouls each that adds up to a tremendous amount of potential disruption to the opposing team. And maybe the 3-point line wouldn't be quite so bare naked on defense. Seems worth a try if everything else falls through.

If Herb Jones is truly available, you have to try everything you can to get him. Would be a perfect fit. A Herb/Keegan wing combo for years would be awesome. I also really like the idea of getting Grant and/or Thybulle.

Not sure why we’re linked to Bojan. Not long or athletic, he’s old, would be a fourth option at best on offense. Also not a good defender. Please stay away from him.

By god, my dude Stan Helsing was apparently right? Haha
I’m not sure who Matt Moore is or what type of credibility he has, but the reasoning of “they won’t be able to afford all of their stars” doesn’t make sense to me.

Jones is on a terrific contract. He’s only going to be taking up 9% of the cap the next 4 seasons (counting this season). That’s EXACTLY the type of player and contract you would want around your stars that are needing to be paid.

Not really buying it.

Jones would be awesome but I fail to see what the Kings would have to offer. The Pels certainly don't need to move Jones prior to this deadline. Murphy still has 1 year left on his deal and all the max contracts on the Pelicans cap are those lower rookie extension level ones. If the Kings could nab any of Harris, Grant, or Bojan that would be a nice upgrade.
Harris is back to being a stud again. I still don’t know what Philly plans to do, I don’t see a great trade target for them.

If we do target someone like Grant (who will take his fair share of shots), I don’t think it will be long until Huerter begins to get more heat around here.

Huerter obviously is a solid ball handler & passer and is now rebounding at a solid clip, but he would effectively be the 5th option in the starting lineup (Fox, Murray, Grant/Kuzma, & Sabonis) and 6th option overall (Monk). He’s basically going to be relegated to the scoring role Barnes has now. And if Huerter’s offensive role and shots are going to be limited, you’re better off filling that position with someone who’s going to bring a lot more on the defensive end.

I think that’s another reason to target someone like Caruso, Thybulle, Brown Jr., or O’Neale if you’re also targeting Grant. Doesn’t mean that Huerter isn’t a fine, young player. You just wouldn’t be maximizing his skillset with the other pieces we’d have in place.

Agreed we got to got heavy defense on one of the positions. Kuzma / Grant you gotta get a thybulle type at the 2. You can hang on you kev if you get herb. If you get herb for cheap you could also swing for fences with Lavine.

Would be surprising if any big trade is made without Huerter part of the deal

I think a 3 way trade with Blazers and Bulls be beneficial for all parties. The bulls get some win now players on good contracts and a haul of picks and move on from Levin's contract. The blazers get a better lead player (Levine) to pair with their up and coming young guys and a strong mentor presence with HB and soem draft compensation. Kings get better both offensively and defensively.

Kings:
Fox/Keon
Caruso/Monk
Grant/Duarte/Murray
Murray/Lyles/Sasha
Sabonis/Lyles/Len/Mcgee

Bulls:
White/Davion
Brogdan/Carter/
Huerter/Terry
Derozan/Williams
Vuc/Drummond

Blazers:
Scoot/simons
Simoms/Sharpe/Levine
Levine/Thybull/Sharpe
Barnes/Camara
Ayton/Reath

Doubt Portland would want any part of Lavine contract

Not really but how bad can he be as the second guy off the bench playing 23-28 mpg be other bench players
as bad as he is playing as stater 30:35 minutes per game ….
As far as I see from him , and I had said this few times, he seems just as a happy with his contract employer who doesn’t give a …. for the company , in this case the team …
He is playing like a shadow , you may not understand he is on the floor , but when you see the stats he played 30+ min ….
Hate such attitude , doesn’t matter who the player is

apparently the Raptors want at least a first round pick and a quality player for Bruce Brown.
Doesn't sound like a lot if he’s as good as some here think.
Had he been added as a piece to the team in the off season but, swapping him for Huerter or barnes PLUS a 1st doesnt move the needle enough in my opinion. It improves us but not sufficiently.

Well, the Raptors want a YOUNG player. Barnes and Huerter that is not. However, they also wanted picks and youth for OG and superstar package for Siakam and settled for far less so who knows. Maybe Davion/Barnes and a 2nd rounder? haha.

I'm not sure about sending a pick as deep as the Kings would have to for Brown. Monte might have learned that lesson with Huerter already. Picks going out better be for a game changing talent. Brown would be awesome need wise but by himself might not push the Kings very far.

Second straight Blazers game I’m watching Malcom Brogan is really good and Portland barley plays Thybull
For all the impact on defensive end Thybull is extremely limited offensively: he can hit open shot, but he doesn't cut or pass. Portland needs to develop their players, so of course they will play guard, who facilitates offense, even if defense drops.
On/off OffRtg/DefRtg shows that Thybull is not improving defense that much, and Brogdon impact is a bit bigger on defensive side alone. Of course, it is also clear that Portland has two sieves in Simon's and Henderson, so whoever spends more time with them gets statistical hit.
Advanced stats show Thybulle as a top10, maybe even top5 defender, but he's also worse rebounder than anyone on Kings roster.
