Kings trade rumor SZN 2023-2024 edition!

Agree Siakam is the worst by the given scenarios , but as far as i read here he is close page for us . He will go either in Phyly ot stays at Toronto ...
My main concern about Kuzma is that he is NOT a team player and cares more about him not about the team , that is all ...
Can not see him as great defender as you said , but i havent watch enough of him to be honest , so i wont argue about that ...
The team has its own two usperstars - Domas and Fox , team needs a teem player who is willing to help the team not his own agenda ...

Kuzma can play either forward position, so some versatility there. Im also not so worried about the idea he’s not a team player, he’ll buy into the concept of winning if here. He’s the better choice over LaVine imo, due to position, contract, age and health history. Maybe not the ideal acquisition but a likely one.
Now as far as price goes, Washington can have two 1st if they throw in Gafford, that guy is a shot blocking machine, Id imagine though he’s not part of the discussion and would want to start.

All off the names being thrown around have some pretty major risk:

Siakam- he ends up being a rental or he signs for 50 mil a year, we don’t win a championship and you can’t get off his contract for 5 years

Lavine- his injuries pop up again, monk leaves due to redundancy, Lavine doesn’t buy in to smaller role

Kuzma- doesn’t buy into role.

If it ends up being Kuz, at least know you can move a declining contract. 19 mil in 4 years will be like a mid level haha.

i trust Monte and crew on this so we will see if anything happens

Also to the Kuzma haters and people that compare Barnes to him. Kuzma is defender as the number one option he comes here teams worry about three other guys before him the efficiency sky rockets
problem is he views himself as the #1 guy. Not a huge fan, but like someone said if it is essentially for free guess I’d be ok with it .

On the Kings Pulse Podcast tonight James Ham said “there are murmurs that there may be something on the horizon here”. In other words rumor has it the Kings are working on a deal. Seems obvious but the rumor made it sound like a deal could be close.
So the person on twitter who posted “we keep hearing Kuzma” clarified where ham said it in the video. About the 35 minute mark. I re-listened and believe that he was just referring to the fact that Kuzma’s name has been brought up in the past both from the kings in free agency and past trade attempt and from the interweb. IMO he is not insinuating this is the fresh rumor. I still gather that he has heard they were working on a deal but no specifics were provided.

it’s probably both good and bad. Most of these guys think they can bust everyone’s ***.
He was a role player with the Lakers so there is precedent there. And to be fair to him, I don’t think I’ve heard one bad thing said about him coming from a coach or teammate.

I also give Monte, and Brown, a lot of credit for what they are trying to accomplish. Davion seemed like a head scratcher at the time and doesn’t appear to have been the best choice but otherwise.
Kuzma’s contract is a real bonus. Slot him in the starting lineup along with Monk and that sounds like a formidable lineup to me.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t make any significant trades this trade deadline.
  1. We’re not an old team who’s timeline is going to run out in a year or two so we can take the time to build our roster without making desperate moves.
  2. If we make a trade for another go-to scorer, that might decrease our odds of signing Monk if he feels like his role is being diminished a bit.
  3. If we hold off on making a trade this season, we can continue to observe Murray’s progress to see how best to fit the roster around him and the rest of the core (e.g., do we need to add another scorer or just defensive role players)
  4. It gives us at least another playoff series data point to assess this team’s strengths and weaknesses and how best to shape the roster going forward
  5. We’ll very likely convey our 2024 1st to ATL which would unlock our ability to trade the maximum amount of picks again (4 1sts and 3 pick swaps). This would really come in handy if a star player becomes available.
A lot of the trades we’re throwing around here don’t seem quite ideal so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the approach Monte takes again this season.

Appreciate you digging into this to clarify for those of us who don’t have time to listen to the original source. Unfortunately, it’s too easy for the Twitter rando’s misinterpretation to spread like wildfire.

Noooot that bad scenario …
I still think with this roster we can hope for Conference final at least if we miss Clippers and find a way for Pelicabs …
Or clippers do not stay healthy till then ….

Yeh I don’t think Monte will make a desperate move considering we are on a 50 win trajectory and his job is secure. If he makes a move it’s because he believes it puts us in contention or he sees it as a low risk proposition. My issue with adding defensive role players is they need to be elite to make a big impact imo. That list is short.

Very short. Isaac, Thybulle and maybe maybe maybe Caruso.

Suppose Grant is a solid target. He looked pretty deadly against us when I saw them play. I’m not sure about his defensive chops, numbers outside of scoring not as good as Kuzma, but that might be the system.
He's very long and a good defender on a team that is competitive. Last time for him was with Denver.

He is what the Kings lack, which is a long defender at the 4 who can match up against all the long wings that give them trouble. With Murray and Grant as a switchable 3-4 combo, they'd go a long way to shoring up the defensive woes

Great, then I like it.
Curious what type of offer would get it done.

Grant is a better fit than Siakam
Don’t agree that he’s a better fit, but it’s a moot point anyway. Grant is a possibility, and maybe something about finally going to a team that’s not rebuilding will help him slide into the role that he should be in: the 3rd/4th option that can take some pressure off of Fox. He seems to have had a career bouncing around a bunch of lowly teams (except for a few seasons with OKC and Denver) so I’m sure he would be ecstatic leaving that mess in Portland

He's a better shooter, which is a key point to fit in at the 4 with the Kings. They won't lose any shooting % consistency with him vs Barnes....and they'd gain a guy who can create his shot much better

If this happens I wonder if Monte goes all in on Grant and Brogdan. Would take KVon, HB, Davion and Duarte plus probably 2 picks.

Fox Keon
Brogdan Monk
Keegan Sasha
Grant Lyles
Sabonis Len

actually I like that team a lot. I think they could compete for a championship. Still some flexibility to change the roster up over the next couple years if needed.

Gafford or Coulibaly in any Washington deal would be sweet..
