NFL 2023-2024 Thread

The 9er defense was incredible today. We let them get away with some big plays, but they really stepped it up in the Redzone to keep Eagles from going up 2 scores while our offense was slow to start. It was frustrating that we gave Hurts unlimited time to throw, but Bosa mentioned during his post-game that the plan wasn't really to sack Jalen today, instead, they were trying to make him stay in the pocket and limit runs. I thought we did a great job of making him a passer and taking away any of his running lanes. He attempted 45 passes with a season completion percentage of just 57.8%. The only other time he attempted 40+ passes in a game this season was against Robert Saleh and the Jets in their lone loss of the season. He was at 45 for both games.. I think Shanny likely hit up Saleh to discuss some things.

With all of the time we gave Hurts, the secondary played phenomenal. The amount of pass breakups were great. I also really applaud the refs for letting some of that 50/50 contact go. We've seen players get flagged for DPI for much less. It's hard to play perfect all the time, but the Eagles possibly have two #1 WRs. Brown is near-elite, and Smith has a case as a #1 WR. Ward is fun to watch when he can shut down passes like this. I wish we gave up less 3rd and longs as a defensive unit, but it happens. As the offense dominated, the defense did what they needed and prevented the game from becoming a shoot-out. This was one of the most important factors. We could've imploded after losing Greenlaw and letting the whiny Eagles players get chippy, but everyone re-focused on defense and took care of business.

For how incredible the defense played, the offense played even better. The first two drives were atrocious, but the team bounced back like nothing after the defense held their own. Deebo is the ulimtate "talk your crap" player after the way he played. It felt like Brock had a quiet game for his standards but somehow ended up with over 300yds and 4tds?? He played a great game. CMC added this game to his MVP resume.

glad we shut up the eagles and their fans. would've won last year with Brock. this beatdown left nothing else unanswered for anyone who would've thought otherwise. the fact that it wasn't even a close game makes it so much sweeter

They done messed up by choosing a defense over Tyreek Hill. Kelce is losing a step and everyone else is just jabroni's. They had the biggest mismatch in the NFL and probably traded away the guy most deserving for MVP this year.
I doubt they make the SB this year - not nearly as good as last year - especially on offense. 49ers get to play the Ravens on Christmas, and that may be a SB rematch perhaps

I think the Dolphins and the Ravens are the clear class of the AFC this season. Bills and Chiefs have not looked the same, the Chargers are worse, Cinci lost Burrow, etc.

The 49ers are favored by 12 over Seahawks, 7 @ Cardinals, 3 vs Ravens, 4 @ Commanders, and 6 vs Rams.

There's a fair chance they win out, and a very good chance they go 4-1. Both Cardinals and Commanders will probably be tanking. The Seahawks must win next week - they do not have the tiebreaker with the Rams who may sneak into the playoffs. Rams draw the Ravens, so both teams could lose. and be 6-7. At that point the other divisions start to come into picture battling out for wild card . No clue who the wild cards will be besides Eagles or Cowboys. There could be 5 or 6 teams battling for the 2 slots.

A week where both the Kings and the Niners take on and defeat the best teams in their respective conferences is a very good week! Cheers to my fellow Kings/49ers fans!

I think in the old "football move" standard that 100% is a catch but no way that is ruled a catch under the new standard unless it somehow benefits Patrick Mahomes.

Sad I was so excited to listen to Murph and Mac after a big Niners win and found out KNBR canned Paulie Mac.

Murph and some Raiders fan that replaced Mac also called him Draymond Greenlaw

I want to like this but we still have 5 weeks of regular season football left and the last time the Niners dunked all over a top NFC contender they followed it up with a 3 game losing streak. Nothing is settled yet so I'm still only looking at one week at a time. It was a beautiful revenge game for sure and another test passed with flying colors for Brock Purdy but we also don't want this game to be the highlight of our season.
